I'm helping a friend work on a 98 GST and I'm starting to get a little stumped. The relevent mods are 255 pump, S16g, FMIC, AFC, 650s, Greddy Type S. Magnacore Plug Wires, NGK Plugs. Basically what happens is that the turbo spools up fine and pulls but at 4K, the car starts to sputter and buck...
An MSD DIS-2 is a CDI.You guys should pay attention to people that give correct advice instead of flaming. It is an established fact that the COP are an issue in a stock inductive ignition system. When a CDI is introduced everything changes in terms of coild dwell. The car will perform...
The inducer on a 4094 is basically the same as a T67 wheel with the exducer just being larger. It isn't that much larger.Who is that quote actually from?
When I bought the HKS T04Z 3 years ago, there were no Garrett alternatives available here in the US. There was nothing BB between a 35r and 42r at the time (not even the 4088r was out yet which I don't regret getting). The turbo does as advertised but there are obviously similar, much cheaper...
I think you will find that you will lose virtually nothing in spool by switching the housing. Last year, we ran a T67/P trim(standard journal) on another buddy's car that had a .84 housing. The setups on the car's are almost identical and there was very little spool difference between his...
The car currently traps 140mph.Exhaust housing play a big part in backpressure readings as well as wheel itself. On my setup, I'm running a very tight .61 A/R T4 housing. This year, I will be swapping to a .84 A/R and the pressure probably will drop and the car will make equal power at a...
The 3065 is a BB CHRA and they(FP) probably want you to take the oil feed from the head where it's much lower pressure. With all of this, you should just call each turbo manufacturer and do whatever they say to cover your ass on a premature failure.
What's become pathetic about this whole mess is that Showdown, Hudson, Shepherd, and Rau all set new best times during sanctioned racing and nobody is talking about it:confused:
I HAVE talked to them at length about it. I was specifically told the FP3x was way too much cam for my setup which just made short of 700whp on boost with what they called a "medium" sized turbo. I was told the 3x was for 85 lb/min type combos and up.Also, like I said, people that are...
So you called FP, told them you are running a turbo this small on a 2.0l, and they told you the FP3x would be fine? I call BS.For the record, I am running the FP3 cams in my 2.0l with aT67/P trim and my car just made a noticeable improvement in spool and peak power over 272s. My car has...
I just ordered Percy's Speedglass for my car last week (complete kit). It is a drag only car but I still opted for the molded, coated sheets. Hopefully, it will hold up.
They are allowed to run nitrous, he just chooses not to. They all run straight methanol though which is what makes the lack of nitrous not as big of a deal.
I have had Buschur built shortblocks that did not have oil squirters in them back when my car still was driven on the street. There were never any issues. The reason was that both cores were NA blocks which don't contain the squiters from the factory. In an ideal scenario, it might be...
Unless you go through the trouble of properly plunging out the area underneath the seat (which takes A LOT MORE porting time), then stuffing oversize valves in a head is a waste of money and is just adding additional weight to the valvetrain.
OK, let me rephase. How do you expect to keep your eyes down the track with the SHIFT LIGHT mounted way over to the right? Perhaps my periphial vision isn't as good as most :) ?
The other windows besides the windshield can be .093". The windshield must be at least 1/8". If you do 1/8", you need a centering strip as well do to it being pretty flimsy. This place offers 3/16 and 1/4" as well but I'm doing the 1/8".
http://www.percyshp.com/producthomespeedglass.htmlHere's where I'm getting most of my numbers from. Check it out. According to it, the total factory glass of an 01 Camaro weighs 96 pounds.
I posted it in handling because I didn't honestly see any other place to put it :)As much as I'd love to believe a windshield weighs 85 pounds, there's no way it can be close to that. A 1/8" thick Lexan sheet, based on the dimensions on a 2g windshield, should weigh around 10.5 pounds...
I found this FAQ thread: http://dsmtuners.com/forums/showthread.php?t=127313I have done a lot of searching but haven't found any answers. Has anyone been able to measure the weight of a factory windshield and rear window on a 2g? Even if its a 1g, I would appreciate the datapoint as I...
Shep stopped using BJs because the company is having problems with money and delivering product. He now uses Buschur for his shortblocks and someone else for his cylinder heads.
Glazar runs the same exact class as Shepherd and he is going. The only reason Shep wasn't at the SO last year was because there was a NOPI race. This year, there is not. He has already made a lose commitment to some that he will be there.
http://www.switzerperformanceinnovation.com You can also go straight to the source and buy them from Tym Switzer. He is the one who created the product while at Buschur.
Both the BR500 and the BR580 are available in BB center sections. The 580 is basicaly a GT35R with a mitsu flanged hotside(GT35turbine/61mm compressor). The BR500 was the 50 trim compressor wheel. I do not know for sure whether he is using the 50 trim compressor wheel in the BB version or not...
You can use any wideband you want with an EMS. The Bosch sensor will/would fail regardless of what type of standalone and wideband controller you are using.
A BR500 is a 50 trim turbo. The newest version uses a BB center center section mated to a GT turbine wheel. You can search tons of threads on comparable 50 trims to get the answers you are looking for.
