Well, it happen to me two days ago. Blast those plastic door handles! It just snapped right on one hinge (the one that controls the spring). Well, there she is below: $84 of DSM quality. Good news for all you white 2g people. The parts man said that Mitsubishi only sends white handles...
I just installed an Apexi N1 and Apexi downpipe. After taking off the stock exhaust, I noticed there was a short, black grounding wire that was bolted to the stock piping. After I installed the N1, I couldn't find a place to ground this wire so I just left it dangling right now.Was this...
I had my master and slave cylinders both replaced about 1,500 miles ago. I had a new clutch and throw out bearng installed as well as a transmission rebuild 600 miles ago. Now, with the car on or off (in any gear) something from underneath the car makes a squeak / creak sound when the pedal is...
Even when you hit a pothole or a bump? No rubbing? On one instance, I cut up some rubber as I entered a Blockbuster entrance ramp. It cut off a sliver all the way around the tire about 2 mm thick.
Yeah the combination of too wide and wrong offset will slice those tires up. In the front when I was lowered on 18s, it was funny. My wheels would hit the fender...and after a couple of times I check for damage. I was surprised that nothing was bent..but all those bolts that hold the inner...
I drive a GST. I got my car aligned with 17" tires. Firestone pulled up the GSX spec because it has 17" wheels standard. So, they aligned my GST (sporting after-market 17" wheels) with the stock GSX specs. A week later, I put some 18" wheels. I took advantage of my lifetime alignment and...
Yeah, stock height and 18s work fine. But lowered height, even a 1.2" drop will be murder on 18s. I was lowered 1.5" on 18s, and every time my suspension compresses, BAM...my unrolled (and highly sharp) rear fender would hit the upper sidewall of my tear...tearing up some rubber! I drove like...
Hmmm...I don't think that my weight has made the driver side front lower than the passenger side front. I mean, I'm a skinny person who doesnt weigh that much. My Tokicos weren't even on the car for a year. I find it amazing that my weight could make the front side sag that much...
I do know how to drive a lowered car. I said that I'm tired of memorizing which lanes have pot holes. I'm tired of slowing down for bumps in the road and railroad tracks. And how does having knowledge of "how to drive a lowered car" apply if there is a ridge that stretches across the entire...
I'm just reading what you said. If you are going to make a definitive stament using the phrase "shouldn't have ANY bearing," then you should explain yourself. :thumb:
I'm not giving out any advice. When I had 18s and lowered, I rubbed. When I had 17s and lowered no rub. But regardless of what wheel or tire you're on, the ride will be rough and bumpy. Getting up entrances to driveways and clearing speed bumps will be more difficult (but not impossible)...
Interesting. I had the same problem but on the opposite side. My driver front fender had only a 2 finger gap while my passenger front had a 3 finger gap. This was when I was on the Tokico Illumina and Tokico springs. Now that I'm all stock again (except wheels) I'll go measure it tomorrow to...
98TSIAWD: You are correct. :thumb:Cuttheduck: You are wrong. Let's take a hypothetical extreme about low profile tires vs. normal tires. Let's make the normal tire a Jeep Wrangler style tire. Now assuming the wheel diameter is the same and assuming that the jeep wheel/rim fits on the...
Yeah, I know it really was a 1.5" drop. I know I didn't measure it right. I was just comparing stock height with stock tires from the ground to the dropped height with lower profile tires from the ground.Going from the stock wheels, with a huge sidewall, to skinny skinny low profiles tires...
There ain't no room on a 2G dashboard to mount a big PDA. This car mount is as clean as you can get while still being functional. Sure you could make some kinda contraption that fits inside the center console...but then you can't see it while driving.
Your burning oil in places that have oil and get hot. Could be turbo. Could be valve stem seals are broken. And it only takes a couple of drops of burning oil to create massive amounts of smoke. Therefore, you won't notice any level changes on the dip stick.
I just got my mount from Ebay from a seller named globalpremier for around $23. I got the 9" goose neck version. He shipped it in 4 business days. I really like the mount. It is very small to fit small Clies. The side arms are adjustable in a rachet-style fashion. There is a quick release...
Start your car. Take a glass plate (preferably white) and hold it behind your exhaust for a while to collection some smoke. Then proceed to lick it. If it tastes like water, it's coolant. If it tastes like oil, then it's oil ha ha.Just kidding. But do the plate trick. Then feel the...
$230 to install O2 housing, DP, and exhaust! That's only a 2 hr job max including your welding. So at your rate, your mechanic was charging you $115/hr!!
I had a similar problem. I thought it was the stock turbo. So I took the opportunity to put in a B16G. Well, that didn't fix the problem. It turned out to be the valve stem seals.
Yep, that's pretty much sums what the rear kit does. The ingall brackets though, are adjustable in themselves. The center bolt in the brackets can slide either more toward the car our more toward the outside, thus, mimicking the same effect that two layers of washers have.
I called Tokico. Ask for Ray in the Warranty department. :thumb:He said that that mushy plastic thingy is a Selective Pin. He says he gets calls from people all the time about damaged pins. He didn't even want me to fax a sales receipt. I gave him my name and address and he will send...
This adjustment is the worst design ever! I don't understand why that stuff is mushy, nor do I understand why that stuff isn't secured in the hole. I can only twist the metal thing with a pair of thin needle nose pliers. Even with that tool, it is still very difficult to twist the adjustment...
In the picture, if you divide the picture into thirds, then only the center section stuff goes in the front. The far left and far right side stuff will go in the rear.
Well shoot. So you are saying that that mushy plastic stuff actually molded around the twisty adjustment. So that when I use the flat head screwdriver to twist the plastc stuff, the plastic stuff grabs hold of the adjuster to turn it. If that's the case, they are gone! They must be lost at...
It was the scariest feeling in my life. I had to drive about 1 mile just on a 30 mph road (but everyone goes like 45). Going straight was no problem. But if I were to hit uneven pavement, a bump, or a pothole. The entire car would immediately turn right or left (as if I had spun the steering...
I went from lowered on Tokico springs to raised to stock springs. The Firestone guy did fix my front toe (off by 2.16" and 2.11) and my rear toe (off by 0.37" and 0.62"). Firestone gives you a nice print out with tons of information including Before, After, and the Range required to be in...
:thumb:This is the full front and rear kit. Yeah sounds like you got jipped on the four gold bracket plates for the rear. The gold plates give you 1 degree of adjustment in themselves. However, you can reuse your stock brackets. Take the stock brackets off. Put your washers behind...
Yeah, the thicker your sidewall, them more comfort you get because you are riding on more air. But thick looks ugly. But, I think I'll go with 45 series on my next tire.
I just got my Illuminas out of the car. It's been a long time since I've even adjusted mine. But look at the "Normal" picture. Look at the little metal thingie in the center. Ummm...I know you are suppose to use a flathead screwdriver to just twist the setting. But look carefully at the way...
I just got back from Firestone. There alignment machine is pretty sweet. It's super flat and any lowered car should be able to get on it. I did a lifetime (unlimited alignments for the life of the car) for $140. Good deal. From going lowered to now back to stock height, my toe was off by 4...
Ah yes, everyone at first has trouble determining what setting they are on. The way to tell is you look at the line of the dial. Imagine the line of the dial (the spot where you insert your flat head screwdriver) to extend another 3" in both directions forming an imaginary line.The...
Yeah I hate my lowered car. It impedes the places I could go shop, eat, play. And there wasn't one single shop besides a performance shop that could accomodate the lowness of my car. Lowered car is just not practical for daily driving. I got so frustrated that I am having my shop raise me...
Glass onto metal contact huh? The stuff that rattles in my car is the third brake light on the window. It came loose and on every bump I hit, the thing rattles around. But from what you're describing, it doesn't sound like that's your problem. Be a little more descriptive.
So how low is everybody's car? I decided to take pictures one last time before my car went back to stock height. This is the Tokcio Illuminas with Tokico Springs. They advertise a 1.5" drop on a FWD. That's a total lie! After looking at my measurements, does it look like I only dropped...
I've tried the Tokicos on the lowest and highest setting. With it on the hardest setting, the ride is almost unbarable. With it on the softest, I could defintely feel a difference but it still sucked. Oh well, I'm getting the whole stock suspension put in right now.How many of you guys...
Condensation in the exhaust is normal and a gift from mother nature heh heh. As for frozen lines? Are you talking about like coolant lines? That fluid has been treated so it won't freeze at 32 F like normal condensation would. If you have no leaks in your lines, then you won't be getting any...
Uhh...try without the camber kits?? Why? The camber kit is not affecting a rough ride.Yeah, my bump stops (strut bumpers) were never cut. The instructions say to cut them in half. So that's like trimming off 1-2" Is this really gonna make a dramatic difference?Irregardless, I'm...
I have the Tokico Illuminas with matching Tokico Springs. Yeah I hear tons of people praising how this kit has great comfort level. But I must disagree.Ingalls Xtreme Camber Correction KitI had my shop install it. Everything went fine (I think). Now seeing how my ride...
