98 Eclipse Turbo Spyder GST
2,500 miles on motor
160,000 miles on frameThis car has over $25k in mods and is in great shape. Engine was professionally machined, assembled and tuned. It has been garage kept and has not seen rain in over 13 years, no rust, no leaks... I had big plans for this...

Great progress and good to see another DSMer in the S.C. area. I’m going the performance route on mine but I’ve always wanted to do this wire tuck just to make it easier working in the bay.
I know this is really dumb... but are you sure the puddle was not just condensation from the A/C compressor? It's near that side of the car, just started getting warm outside, no change in coolant level, hard to duplicate on short drives, etc... all those kind of point to that
For what these things do (keep oil out of your intake tract) I would just grab a couple of these ($15 each) http://www.ebay.com/itm/BILLET-ALUMINUM-RACING-ENGINE-OIL-CATCH-RESERVOIR-TANK-CAN-HOSE-INDICATOR-BLACK-/201249093731?hash=item2edb617863:g:jvcAAOSwMmBV4JEJ&vxp=mtrYou will have to get...
Sounds like something with throttle cable or TPS... check the throttle cable behind your intake manifold and see if it's loose/tight.You can run some tests on your TPS, but it'll require you to remove the throttle body; here's the link: http://www.plymouthlaser.com/tps.htmOutside of that the...
I just installed that kit last month on mine and it made a world of difference on the roll up/roll down of the top. This kit will fix that loose rib you are talking about, that rib is still in the car right? As for the floppy side skirt thing you have going on with the DS pic... there is a...
So I've got the same question as the original post...My car has been running fine for a while, the only strange things that happened today before the car threw the 0125 code were 1) the car had trouble starting... I had to cycle the starter 2-3 times before it fired up 2) the fuel pump seemed...
My stock oil pressure gauge is broken too, got an aftermarket. It's on my list to fix eventually... But if you take the wire off the sending unit (with key at ON position or car running) and connect it to a ground wire: if the oil pressure needle pegs out at the top = your sending unit is bad...
$61 for OEM radiator replacement. http://www.carparts.com/details/Mitsubishi/Eclipse/Replacement/Radiator/1995/P2024.html?TID=gglpla&origin=pla&gclid=CIDwltroxM4CFVcbgQodj0kB0wIf your AT trans cooler is damaged, you can get an aftermarket one and lines for about $80...salvaging some of the...
I think you're right... A lot of the oil was around that area... I'm going to clean off the oil and add another check valve from US Plastics after the PCV valve and see if that fixes it
So I was doing some test runs and when i hit about 5000-5700 RPMs @ ~23PSI of boost (DSM Log Screenshot below) There was a brief 'puff' of white/grey smoke that came from under the hood at around the 397sec mark. I've got one of those VIS CF Hoods so there are vents right above the exhaust...
Check for exhaust leaks too, especially the downpipe connection... A big enough leak could raise temps considerably in that area. Hopefully it starts too cool off here in FL soon... This heat has been ridiculous
The shifter dots never seems to line up with P-R-N-D....Anyone have experience with this?I've delt with it for a while just feeling for whatever gear I'm looking for, but now I'm having trouble getting it park. I'll hit the top of the gear shifter range and it sometimes it goes in park and...
Planning to add an inline AT temp sensor and want to use the AN fitting rather than T into the line and have this same thing happen again...Has anyone ever used the AN tap showed below? I guess these are used for nitrous... Do you think the temp probe may obstruct the flow?
Soooo... I still don't know the psi of the AT cooling lines, but I do know that zip ties won't hold beyond 6400rpm... :DWhoops (log pic attached)I did replace all of the connection points with metal clamps, or so I thought... I missed one. Car is ok though, was able to stop shortly after and...
i hear ya... the fact that it is really new/clean oil doesn't help seeing it either. I did have a valve cover gasket leak (which i fixed this week w/new gasket) but even so - the location of that VC leak doesn't make sense as to where the oil has been collecting on the manifold, right? Also the...
I've got a small amount of oil collecting in the first 'valley' on the left side of the exhaust manifold (between #4 and #1 cylinders). Where is this coming from? The head and block were just rebuilt by a reputable shop in the area about 100 miles ago, I've seen other posts talk about valve...
Too much risk keeping the old cooler, I don't think it possible to clean them completely.I replaced mine with one the sandwich oil/air coolers. I don't have too many miles on it to give a solid review, but could not use the stock bolt that secures it to the oil filter housing... Had to get...
Since the turbo timer is the only thing that works....Check the turbo timer wiring harness connection, could be loose or have several loose wires? Or remove the tt wiring harness and reconnect that bundle of wires to the stock connection point
What PSI is the A/T fluid running through the inlet/outlet to the cooler, let's say at WOT?I installed an aftermarket B&M trans cooler and secured the vacuum lines on one side with zip ties...after looking at the stock clamps, I'm thinking I should do more... Wanted to ask here before I find...
If you are serious about the best way to spend $20... I second the Haynes or Chilton Manual... And some ziplock bags and a sharpie. Clean and identify all the parts you have, label them and eventually start logging the ones you will need. From where you are at, and where you want to go... It...
Well then that solves the boost issue i was having, thanks for the assist... prior owner had a 20psi max gauge, guess that was throwing me off.Planning to tune it over 20 PSI eventually so the MBC will be useful then.
i'll give this a try and let you know what happens. Also, i found another thread on here that said:Seems like a reputable source... is this true? My WG spring is 20 PSI. My gauge only goes up to 20 PSI, so that limits my troubleshooting ability. I am logging in ECMLink (pic attached) and it...
Got my car running a few weeks ago after 2 years of it collecting dust in a garage from a blown motor. So I'm doing the third test drive trying my best to keep it under 3k rpm because of the fresh rebuild (this is tough)Anyway, I gradually open up the throttle and the Turbo starts spooling...
Depending on who did the bypass and how the wiring was done, it could certainly still be that (loose connection). I was thinking maybe a bad ground, but that clclclclct noise you described, seems like it would be the switch. If it's not that...Bench test the starter, it's not that hard to...
Simplejoe got it right... It's the clutch pedal position switch. Diagram attached.I had the automatic transmission version of this...the car didn't think it was in Park so it made all the same brrrrrrt starting noises... I pulled my gear shifter to the lowest gear and jammed it up to park...
Take off the switch panel on the DS door and check the connection at the main switch, could just be a loose connection. If it's not that check the window relay, B-42X on the attached diagram.
Is this an automatic transmission? Is the 'click' you describe more of a 'buzzing sound' If so, before you turn the key to start it, pull the shifter all the way down to the lowest gear and then firmly push it back up to park. Then try to start it.I had a similar issue with starting my car...
I'm guessing this is oil... Smokes a decent bit when the exhaust heats up. There's not a lot of smoke out of the exhaust though so if it is an oil leak it does not appear to be major. This oil only seems to appear when I take it out for short neighborhood street drives... Any ideas for why the...
