I've been driving my 2G Spyder GST on borrowed time since I purchased it 3 years ago. There's been this one little coolant line near the oil cooler that has ALWAYS been weak and mushy. I finally got around to buying and installing a coolant line replacement kit.The kit seems Very high...
I'm wondering if anybody has any experience with the silicone radiator hose kits from Amazone. These kits include all of the coolant lines all over the engine. I just got mine and haven't yet installed it and am wondering if anyone else here has had a set on their car for a while and what their...
You tell me! Spent a couple hours this weekend shooting a junk yard fender with Duplicolor and a can of clear to replace the dented fender that's been bugging me for Two Years! What do you think?
Wondering what ya folks think about this. During warmup my engine will occasionally stumble and the wideband will show a quick lean spike at the same time.(The CEL is for a random TPS issue)
Hi guys. Not a real problem (thus far), but more of a heavy concern. About a week ago, while braking hard, I hit some maybe inch deep by 4 inch across divots in the pavement. When I did, while turning slightly to the left, I heard a loud CRACK - like a thick piece of stiff plastic breaking from...
I tried spraying the top with Plastidip (which did a great job of restoring the black color, BTW), then coating it with Never Wet. Still had a leaky top. The only thing left to try, reseal the inside with Flex Seal. Does it work? Yup.Question is, for how long. We will have to wait and see.
Was (or IS, I guess) there ever a 2g Spyder wind deflector available? Meh, I made one for about $40 from junk I got from the hardware store. Tested it out tonight on a cool evening with the top down and windows up. Works AMAZING! Yeah, I know...looks like I made it with junk from the hardware...
Since there doesn't seem to be a TON of info out there on replacing the rear 6X9s in a 2g Spyder, I thought I'd post this.I picked up a set of Sony XS-R6945 6X9s and a set of Sony XS-R1645 (labeled as 6.5, though I can't figure out how they got THAT measurement) at (cough/gag) Walmart for less...
One year of taking care of this 1999 Eclipse. Nowhere near done. So many plans and parts to install! The weather has finally turned and this was the last nice days. Nice GoPro footage at the end (what my commute to work looks like most days)!
Just spotted this craigslist ad., but you know criagslist...if you want it you probably shouldn't waste any time. (I am not the seller, just posting this for you guys!)$200 for the lot.https://pennstate.craigslist.org/pts/5815224537.html
Just another perfect weekend morning here in Mid America. Fantastic cars, folks and BBQ! Do other cities do Cars And Coffee like the StL? Seriously, it's EVERY Weekend!
Just a quick video. I installed a used AEM wideband today. It's fully stand alone - not hooked to anything like DSMlink. I have no experience with this gauge. Does this look normal. Doesn't seem so to me. Any ideas? Thanks in advance!
My top looked like garbage. I don't know what hell this top suffered in the past, but it bore the scars like a badge of honor. There were some splotchy light areas all over it.When I first got this car I tried to clean it only to find that no, this will not be done away with so easily. So...
Cars and Coffee will be hosted by STL Motorcars this coming Saturday 09/10/2016. Come out and get your car in a video and check out some fine exotic machinery. I'll be there and I've been told that two other 2g Spyders will be there as well.Map: https://goo.gl/maps/2ctS8kWQ4hz
I'd like to catalog some of the better driving roads near the St. Louis area...and perhaps even host local driving tours. Here's my first video: Route T just southwest of St. Louis - about 15 miles one way...
Another weekend...another Cars & Coffee here in St. Louis! Seems like we have one around here just about every weekend. Sadly, once again...I'm the lone DSM. Where ya guys at?
So I bought a second hand Injen intake but it didn't come with a filter or filter adapter. I figured I would just use the stock airbox since I'd prefer a non-flashy engine bay...but I found out quickly that the Injen intake is too long to fit with the stock airbox. So I made do. I hacked up a...
Started by driving from St. Louis MO to Oklahoma City OK. Top down 75 mph and 25 mpg. Stopped @ a motorcycle museum in Miami OK and ended our day @ The Winchester Drive In in OKC.
So here's the thing: My other car is an '04 Focus Wagon with a Blaupunk stereo. It has Speed Sensitive Volume control wherein as the speed of the car rises...so goes the volume. And I'm spoiled by this feature. I want this in my Spyder...so I picked up a second hand but unused stock (Clarion)...
Thanks to JRSTANGE I was able to make it to The Lot car show in St. Peters. I attempted an ill advised "hand held" technique, but it still turned out OK. There's even a NFG (aesthetics anyway) 1G GSX at the end. Too bad it had gotten dark by the time I got around to it.
We hit another Cars And Coffee event here in the St. Louis Missouri area last Saturday morning. Turns out, there are FOUR C&C events here every month; Westport Plaza, Gateway Classic Cars in O'Fallon Il., here at StlMotorcars in Chesterfield and yet another that I have not yet attended Downtown...
So, I knew it would be rainy until about 7am Saturday morning...but I was hoping that enough owners would be brave enough to bring their cars out after for the April 30th Cars And Coffee at Gateway Classic Cars in O'fallon Illinois just east of St. Louis Mo. Well, a few did and were rewarded...
Well, I was hoping to see at least a COUPLE DSM owners out at the St. Louis Cars And Coffee event this morning...alas, other than a lone 3000gt (DSM?) that I only got a glimpse of as it was leaving, my Spyder was the lone DSM out there. Still, plenty to look at and lots of cool people in...
So I've FINALLY gotten my exhaust all buttoned up and the car is on the road for real now. I thought it might be nice to share the sound difference between the stock (but badly rotted out) exhaust and my Frankenstein all stainless Megan 2.5" downpipe, 3" Random Technologies cat and SRS 3"...
Hi guys. Quick question: if I eventually intall a Walbro 190lph (GSS242 [high pressure] - picked up second hand), will an aftermarket Fuel Pressure Regulator be mandatory?
Midwest DSM owners, anybody gonna be able to make it to the April Cars And Coffee meetup at Westport Plaza? It'd be nice to meet some fellow owners and make some connections. I'd also like to put together an after event drive the style of Rob Ferretti's Adventure Drives (only, ya know...free...
There doesn't seem to be many active St. Louis owners out there these days, but I thought I'd toss this out there to gauge interest:I'm hoping to put together Non Make Specific drives this summer through wonderful rural Missouri along some of our great two lane blacktop back roads. I thought...
I think my exhaust woes are history, thanks to local Home Brew Equipment Fabricator: Sully. All stainless steel...should last...forever.If you are in the St. Louis area and need some work like this done, I can put you in touch.
I've been to the gap about 4 times now. Turns out, it's less crowded in January...who knew?! LOL.Didn't get to take the Spyder. We're in the Girlfriend's GTI. Going slow anyway. Trying to maintain 30 - 35 throughout the entire section. Never been there? Even THAT can be a challenge!
I've finally got my SRS 3" Stainless Steel Catback installed and shot some before and after video because I couldn't find any on Youtube. Hope this helps anybody considering the SRS Catback. IMHO, it sounds great. Nice and deep and grumbley. I have a convertible so highway noise is already...
So you may have read on another thread that I ran into a problem upon my initial effort to install my new 3' SRS stainless catback exhaust system. Following the advice I received in that thread I gave it another shot. I took lots of pics and did a detailed post on my 2g Eclipse Spyder blog...
So, I've only owned this car for a few months and really only drove it the month of October. I purchased a different set if wheels for it last weekend and wanted to test fit one of them this morning before work. Went to pull one of the current wheels off and found Spline Drive Lug Nuts holding...
So, finally got the old stock exhaust off the '99 GST Spyder. Took lots of patients, some PB Blaster, a breaker bar and a hack saw...but it IS off.Anybody else find that the fat 3" pipe and flange on their muffler doesn't fit through the space between the rear suspension cross member, fuel...
I posted a video yesterday concerning the noise my top makes when opening and closing.http://www.dsmtuners.com/threads/convertible-top-noise-video.498098/Today, I got in there and took a good look at the offending motor to see if maybe the shear pin had broke and maybe the noise was the...
Hi, guys.I'm sure there are other threads about convertible top issues but I'm including a video to fully illustrate my issue and hopefully it will help others with similar issues...if we can get this resolved. It's probably a broken pin in the gear drive, but I'd like a little more...
I posted a question earlier today about a set of wheels that I spotted on craigslist, and I've introduced myself on the regional message board...but I forgot to say "howdy" here.About me:Cars I've had - 240z, 86 civic si, 88 mr2, 04 focus wagon ztw (2.3l - still have), 00 volvo wagon, 14 VW...
Can anybody here ID these rims? They look like Rota Subzeros, but are Unilug (and I can't find an image of a Unilug Rota Subzero) or a Racing Hart CP-035, but there's that little lip where the center cap resides (and I can't find an image of a CP-035 with that little raised lip). Anybody out...
