The 420a has no biss screw and I've done this before where I had my throttle cable adjusted a hair to tight and would slowly start to idle up. If it's the stop screw try to get it back where it was. Spray some carb cleaner around the intake to make sure you have no leaks. The injector o rings...
Well I finally tore into the grand cherokee I had gifted to me. I drove it home and it wasn't to bad still had good oil pressure. I guess it was alot worse than I thought.
I was able to snag the 3 ton pittsburg low pro from harbor freight and man that thing is heavy. I bought 2 when they were going for 100 a peice but one decided to stop working when it wanted, and right before I yanked the handle and yoinked it in the bed of my truck it wanted to work. So she's...
I finally had a chance to stick alot of new parts in this thing. First thing being ditching those autolite spark plugs, I also added a catch can just to be safe. I need a timing belt too before I run this thing again its pushing past 10 years otherwise it should be ready to go. It's getting...
I feel like I've heard that sound before. I'd check and make sure nothings rubbing against the timing cover. I'd also check your timing belt tensioner.
I was able to do a little painting this weekend it's not great but it'll do for now. The bottom is going to be black so i left that for now. I'm ready to start putting the interior back in and do some engine mods. The warm weather is just about here.
Does your belt keep loosening after drives? If there new belts I've had to tighten mine a couple times from breaking them in.You could post your problem so others can help. I don't know if your going to get much traffic through your build thread on this problem.
Proud of you buddy. I've been there so many times and it's pretty hard to talk yourself out of something you know you can make great. I have 3 projects and my 4g swapped non turbo has been sitting and I swear I'm stealing more parts from it than putting on. You did yourself a favor if anything.
Good idea not welding the hatch i had to buy a junkyard hatch from not knowing better a few years ago, warping the hatch stupid bad. I should have used those patches rather than fiberglass and resin. Looks like way less of a mess. What are you planning to do with the spoiler?? I love that low...
I was finally able to finish up my cherokees suspension. Now on to the grand cherokee that was gifted to me. I am either going to rebuild the engine or swap one in I'm not real sure yet.
Anything is possible but it may not be very cost effective. Everything will have to be custom of course. It's a cool idea but I think I'd do the evo swap before anything else to be honest. Is there any reason you'd want to swap to that? I know with a turbo on mine at 5 pounds feels alot better...
Awesome job keep at it you'll get there. I've never seen a dash that bad before. Was it sitting in a field because I see a fat mouse nest with the dash out.
I broke down and finally bought a set of rims for the eclipse. Out of the 10 plus eclipses I had in the past I was never able to buy rims for them so I'm pretty excited.
You have to be really doing these cars wrong I feel. I remember being 19 and getting my first gst with no engine. I did do quite a bit of research but I still didn't know anything and that car never left me stranded. It ran all sorts of wrong and wouldn't hit boost. I still drove it like that...
Finding an eclipse in a junkyard around here is like seeing Bigfoot. I have a parts car I can get a template from for the doors but there's zero rockers so that'll be a challenge. The doors are my main concern I can tell you guys are highly against molding the stocks to the car which I am too i...
I agree with you but if I ever removed them now i have holes in the car. I just have to weigh out my options. I just dont know how a guy makes the holes exactly where there supposed to be. I'm also afraid of those clips breaking since there so old now. I probably won't bondo because the less...
My setup is 3 inch from front to back and it's not loud at all and it definitely does not sound like a honda. If you don't go turbo take any recommendations from BLACK'98DSM I beleive he is na and without a turbo you may want a quality exhaust.
Well once you add the turbo throw any exhaust on because that honda sound will be gone. I straight piped mine all the way to the back with a generic "fart" can type muffler and it doesn't sound bad at all. The turbo definitely quiets it up a bit. The only reason I don't buy any name brand...
I used a 3 inch gst exhaust from front to back and instead of going above the rear subframe I just cut the exhaust and made it go under. I also had to cut and flip the downpipe but I'm running a turbo so your setup may be a little different. I personally wouldn't buy a real expensive awd exhaust...
Hey now when I get in the zone I just can't stop. Thank you though I'll try to keep things a little tidier on the other side. 😄 I might as well been working outside in the sandbox.
I wish I lived closer I would 100 percent help you out no questions. Maybe this will make you feel better or maybe not but it's minus 29 where I'm at and I can't drive any of my cars for 6 months out of the year, I just get to stare at them. So maybe taking a little 3 month break until the snow...
I'm pretty much done except for the bondo that keeps growing from me sanding. This whole quarter panel is bondo which is driving me nuts. I have to get it as smooth as I can before I slap some paint on. I feel like I should keep sanding upwards to see how bad it all really is. I got a picture...
I have sort of a weird idea but I was just curious if anyone has done it. I researched and found zero on the subject. Has anyone molded the stock sideskirts to the car by any chance? I'm planning on fiber glassing the front caps to the sidekirts only to hold them up better because I don't have...
Do you have a proper restrictor for the oil feed to the turbo? If you ride that thing hard especially in the cold I've seen those ebay turbos blow pretty easy.
If I was closer I'd definitely buy that up as long as it's got a clean title. I wouldn't be afraid of the trunk, floor, or the strut towers it's the rockers that are a real pain. For it being complete and an awd if it were me I'd try to save it, but I have zero issues sinking all of my time into...
Are you changing your entire setup or keeping that early 2000s vibe. I love the stock looks but call me a ricer that 2000s tuner look is starting to grow on me as time goes on. I love the build very very clean and proper whichever way you go.
I'm not a huge fan of using bondo but I can't make it perfect without. I'll be wrapping up the paint work this weekend. I test fitted the sideskirts and they fit very well.
Well I got it as close to factory as I could. I'm no body guy but I'm pretty happy with it. I may have to shape it a hair more. I just keep measuring the passenger side to get it as close as I can. It's going to have side skirts on anyways so I'm not to concerned about it, I just can't stand...
I started getting the rear rockers formed and adjusted. I'll still need to roll the back of the rocker which shouldn't be to bad. I'm hoping to be completely done with it tomorrow. I just haven't had much time maybe a half hour to an hour to work on it some nights. I just dont want to burn...
I had a chance to do some more work today. I was able to start welding in the main course and it's been a real chore. The front of the panel is easy because I can tack it as I curve it down, but the back side has a much sharper curve to it and it's free wheeling so ill have to figure out how I'm...
If anyone wants to know a 3 inch gst catback will in fact bolt up to a gs or rs. I'd go off of what BLACK'98DSM said though if your not into welding or anything like that. I couldn't tell you if it'd actually bolt up to the cat though. I usually throw those things right in the scrap. I have no...
Yeah I live in a very nasty area so maybe corrosion runs through the connector itself. I'm no wizard in the pcm department but I can see why it's made how it is, with the pcm being under the hood as apposed to inside the car.
I went through everything you did except my fuel pump lost power it ended up being the pcm. I can't beleive how many of these actually have problems. I feel like the gel that it's coated in doesn't help it at all.
Your going to need an fmu and a bigger fuel pump. I usually buy the spa adjustable fmu on ebay and it works really good. You can set base and rising rate. I'd get a wideband at the very least just so you know what your car is doing. I boosted my auto 420a and that transmission did not like it at...
It looks like he picked up the one that was closest to being put together. I on the other hand look for the one with the least amount of rust especially at that price point. If there's rust in the rear rocker you know your in for a treat in other hidden areas. I will agree he definitely doesn't...
So I was able to get some welding done and start shaping the rear a little. I've got quite a ways to go but its starting to get there. I know alot of it doesn't have to be perfect but I might as well get it close while I'm this far. The other side isn't this bad so it should go alot faster, I hope.
It's not fun working in the snow I can tell you that much. It's been in the 30s so not to bad at least in December. I used to do engine swaps and what not in the snow which sucked so I know how you feel or maybe I don't.
I will say for a northern car with 240k miles I'm extremely impressed there's not more rust. It seems I find all the cheap good deals here in the rust belt. I've decided to embrace body work at this point since the cars always need rust repair. I'm ocd about it so it has to be pretty well...
I cracked into some rust last night. I'll be making everything from scratch so I left some of the skeleton there to mock up to. It already had a repair done once before.
