Then replace all the hoses, therm, take the therm housing off and inspect and replace it w fresh rtv. Replace all your coolant hoses if they arent already brand new. Get the heater and tb hoses too! It can only be so many things. And its good maintenance too. I recently did all mine. Peace of mind.
Man I'd sell you mine for 15k! lol. Brand new everything, tuned, manual 98 gsx, fast af! I wouldn't buy that one, 15k is alot for a unfinished project.
Everything looks good to me! Make sure that balance shaft belt has enough tension. And torque the bolts properly on the various timing components. I agree, the plastic tool works decent, but still need a wrench on each cam bolt to really get er lined up just perfect. Using binder clips works way...
I just made some videos explaing and showing how to drain the fuel tank very easily. I know alot of people have needed this info before. I dont know where to post it. So heres a screen shot of my vids and channel on youtube. I just loaded them today.
I'd say you jumped timing or its timing related. Not the lifters. When my timing belt went i had exact same as you but it was the intake cam and rockers everywhere. From the intake side laying strewn about in the head.
Id tell you, but its been covered a thousand times. Took me 6 bucks to make my own. Google make a boost leak tester dsm. And how to perform boost leak test dsm. Piece of cake man!
So you saw wetness behind the turbine wheel. Well there ya go! Only takes a drop of oil to burn and make a cloud. Put in some new seals and or rebuild the turbo. If it was valve seals it wouldnt smoke while driving it, mainly smokes at idle and dissipates away when driving. Just my 2 cents.
Definitely a 14b. Id recommend shopping for a 16g and keep that as a spare. It will come in handy down the road, trust me. My rule with dsm's is have 2 of everything on hand!
Good lord i would clean er up a bit and replace some of those timing components, lookin a lil rusty. Not bein negative, just what i would do. Might as well while you in there right!
Hey guys. Can someone please point me in the direction of a place that sells band clamps. I need one to connect my 16g to my 7cm hotside. Preferably an oem one. Thanks!
I just removed my head a week ago due to timing belt broke. My hg had zero marks on it like yours has. And i have had it on 3 years with zero problems on my composite hg. Definitely not good man.
After looking at your pistons, i realize you are correct. Mine are still good thank god. Lifted my spirits up a little. Ive never worked on a dsm engine or took one apart before so i just flat out didn't know if the pistons were bad or ? Thank you sir.
Yea i am rebuilding the whole head, i just wanted an opinion on where the valves hit the pistons. Thanks though. How they look? From what you can see anyways.
Had a pulley fail, shredded my timing belt on saturday. I took off the head and all my intake valves were bent. I have never taken a dsm engine completely apart and need to know the damage and any other advice offered. What a crappy weekend! Was just cruisin going 50 when it happened. Thanks in...
