***UPDATE*** In case anyone running into the same issues. I, for some reason, thought I bought a 97 ECU and had DSMLink socketed in it. It is a 95 ECU!I had the wires in the wrong order "3214". When I switched to "4123" it fired right up. I'm an idiot :banghead:
And that’s exactly why I went out and double checked! Kept seeing things saying it’s extra work to convert the 97 to run dsmlink etc. figured it wasn’t very popular so I should prob double check haha! I’m so relieved I got it going, been a pain in the butt
I appreciate your help but I realized I’m an idiot. I thought I bought an eprom 97 ecu and was having no start issue. I just checked ecu and it’s from a 95!!! Swapped wires again and it fired right up! Crappy idle but it’s a good start.
I have been reading the ecmlink articles but I’m still confused. Can someone help me?95tsi with a 97 ecu with dsmlink. I don’t have cas on passenger side of motor.1. What should my plug order be?
2. Do I have to have the CAS inversion selected or not in dsmlink? Thanks
That’s what I was thinking. It’s been on the charger since I tried, but wasn’t sure if I had a bad battery or not. Was gonna go out tomorrow to buy a new one to see what it looked like then
95 TSI with 97 ECU - Speed Density, FIC 1120's, 43.5 Fuel pressure
Cranks and bucks like it wants to start, but doesn't crank fully over. Makes a weird winding type noise while cranking. Have tried multiple plug orders, currently its at 4-1-2-3 from right to left. Noticed at cranking, the...
Ye it was. Very sluggish, but I could atleast drive it around the block. I noticed when installing the WB that pin 76 o2 wire was snipped like someone cut their WB out and never tied it back. Going to assume that's why it was running sluggish.
I'm sorry, I thought it was the same thing. Log posted. Cranking log didn't save and am unable to go back out to do it until tomorrow. From what I saw the MAP went from -0.1 to around 0.5 or so, not much movement.
Would this make a difference in my car starting or not? From what I've read, this is just for logging purposes (PC Side) and (ECU Side). I should be logging IAT's, but I'm not worried it at the moment as my car doesn't start LOL
Ye it is, just went out and looked and triple checked. If it's cycling from min to max volts in dsmlink, would that verify it's atleast working? After I calibrated, i held a lighter to the sensor and it went from 22, to 9-10 until I pulled lighter away, then it went back to 22
Looking at the logs, and comparing it to other peoples healthy logs, my fuel activity is pretty similar at keyon and startup. I am running brand new ngk plugs and brand new accell plug wires, so I wouldn't think that would be an issue.
Is there something common on 2gs that would be affecting...
Yes, I bought the SD kit / cable from ecmlink. Had the bung welded to my IC piping by my throttle body at 45deg angle.
I had SD working before I did the WB install / turbo swap, so I am pretty confident that shouldn’t be an issue. Ecu numbers arnt reading crazy numbers, so I think Ecu...
The only thing else I did was put on a bigger turbo and delete the coolant lines. (16g). Turbo is in good shape, so not concerned with that. I installed some 1200s and dsmlink at the same time last month, but I was able to leave it idling and do a base tune. Could I have blown any kind of...
Here is the log. I have not had much time to set what I want logged, so unsure how much this will help. The throttle up and down is me trying to get it going as it's cranking. I appreciate any leads you may have.
Edit: I had to add almost everything to the displayed values just now...
95 TSI AWD - Car started and idled for about 30s before just dying. NOTE: I noticed my tachometer was not working and idle was pretty high, but I assumed it was due to the weather (Was about 20f out). Car would not start afterwards. I noticed this morning that I installed the WB incorrectly...
It seems the tab for direct access must be opened already in the saved log for it to work, kind of annoying but oh well. I suppose next log I make, ill just open every tab I can haha, thanks.
Is there anywhere to mess around with the settings while not connected to my car? As in, bring my laptop inside and make adjustments? I get a port error every time I click on anything. Thanks
I am getting this when trying to save to Ecu after trying to save data in the direct access tab. I am zeroing out the sdtempweigh columns due to not running an IAT sensor at this time. I’ve tried reconnecting, saving the file, and turning ignition off and on with no luck.
Just put the chip into the socket, but it looks like it’s sticking out a bit high? It won’t push in any further and I don’t want to put a lot of pressure on it.
Thoughts?
Just bought the car. It’s been sitting for awhile and have been going through it today. I’ve read it could be from a bad cooling system, or rust. What do you guys think?
I am fedup with breaking bolts and wanting an easy way out. Can I just drill out the broken bolts from hotside and just use a bolt and nut, or will that not be enough clamping force? I really have no desire to buy another set of helicoil if I don't need to.
Thanks a ton,
Kevin
Removing coolant lines from my turbo. Will be looping the 2 coming off of throttle body. Can I also loop the feed and return line that were on the turbo?
Thanks
I luckily had a flare wrench on hand and is what I have been using. I have tried wacking it with a hammer, and putting my whole body weight into it. I have been using PB Blaster on it every so often to hopefully loosen it a bit. It's just ridiculous how tight of a hold it has.
I will be...
I am having a hell of a time removing that fitting on the bottom side of the water pipe. It's the line that runs to your turbo. I have been cranking on this fitting for a few days now and it just won't budge. I am turning the bolt clockwise seeing that it is upside down <--Is this correct...
Looking for any kind of feedback here. Working on a new car. Was smoking pretty good before I took the chinese turbo off. Valve cover was for sure leaking / has cracks, so I'm assuming the spark plug gasket could also be bad. When I noticed the smoking, I immediately thought of turbo, so I...
I definitely do have the cam tool, and pulley adjuster tool. You sure as hell don't need that $25 threaded rod LOL. Pin should come out with proper tension on tensioner pulley... If you read the post, you would have realized I was doing everything correct. The tensioner was bad. Go be a...
I had to rip it out, but now I need to reset it due to me taking timing belt back off. I don't want to throw it back on if If i have to go through the same trouble getting it back out haha.I ordered a new tensioner, so we'll see how it goes. I can't see any other reason except it's getting...
Clockwise. The tensioner gets real tight, then it sorta resets if you turn it too far. My 2g hits a
"sweet spot" where you can pull the grenade pin out and lock in the tension. It is not happening on this 1g :banghead:.
Would a bad tensioner cause too much pressure? As in, it's too...
This is a 6 bolt block. I was using an Allen key for the grenade pin. I have never needed the tensioner bolt to depress it enough to pull pin out. Is 6 bolt block different? I would usually just use tension pulley, pull pin out, and tighten screw to lock in the tension. I was able compress...
I have done timing on my old 2g several times, and never had an issue. I replaced the timing belt on my recent 1g. I took the tensioner off, depressed it, inserted pin, and bolted onto block. I am turning tensioner pulley clockwise, but there is never a point when the tensioner wants to free...
Hey guys, recently purchased a 92 talon tsi awd. I cannot determine if it's rod knock or the lifters. It sounds a bit louder than it should for lifters, but listening with a stethoscope, the lifters sorta sound insync with the noise.Things i've tried:Compression: 150 across the board...
Hey guys, not sure if this is allowed, but here it goes.I am thinking about buying a STI, and looking for a similar forum like DSM Tuners. Anyone know?
I feel stupid. I forgot I pulled my radio fuse a few years ago since I never used it :banghead:. I was not thinking fuse whatsoever which is odd, so thanks for guiding me in the right direction!!
