about two days ago, My car was kinda boging down at low rpm's in first gear when accellerating normal .
i recently had my head gasket replaced along with new lifters, new t belt,i do have a crack in my exaust manifold*(small hairline crack)* but i dont think that would be the cause of prob...
Please Help. My Car Died On Start After 5 Secs Then I Checked The Plugs, Cleaned Them And Started, Ran For 10 Secs And White Smoke Came From Under The Hood (alot) Then Will Not Start. Fuel Pump Working And Fuel Filter Is Getting Fuel Through It Too. What Could It Be? Put New Plugs In And It Will...
nevermind on this question guys. i found the problem. i removed the radiator and the wiring harness underneath somehow got fried prolly grounded out somewhere. I'm detangling this mess and rewiring it and insulating it as the stock setup was not protected very well. thanks anyway.
can anybody give me and idea what the problem could be? I tried starting my car and the battery was almost dead. I hooked up the jumper cables and tried starting, almost started then white electrical smoke came up from somewhere under the radiator near the side mount intercooler. Now my power...
I DONT KNOW IF YOU ARE INTERESTED. BUT I HAVE A HIGH FLOW CAT HE CAN BUY. THEN HAVE THEM MAKE IT FLANGED IN THE MIDDLE. AFTER THEY INSTALL EXHAUST U CAN INSTALL THE TESTPIPE ON YOUR OWN.. THE SHOP WAS THE SAME WAY HERE IN WA. BUT LUCKILY THE GUY MADE ME A TESTPIPE AND MADE ME BUY A HIGHFLOW...
u know. the other guys said they have the vacuum hose tapped same place as you but in v faq it says to tap it into that top hose with the blue markings..that what i did and it works fine..i would tap it into that blue hose and see what happens.
check this out. under electrical there is some info on how to install http://www.vfaq.com/index-main.html
I installed an HKS type 0. its easy with the harness. i suggest going to www.optauto.com and just buying the harness there. It will make it way easier. hope that helps.
go with the catback exhaust. 3" and just put the 1g bov on. the other guy that has a 1bov and said he cant boost past 11.... his bov must be bad. with a good 1g bov u can easily boost up to around 16 psi or more. realy depends. but definately should not be leaking around the 11-14 range. so...
your problem is actualy realy common among 2g's my friend. Pretty much when you increase boost w a 2g you need a new bov. the stock ones leak realy bad and wont allow too much psi. Most likely any psi past 11 is just leaking out of the bov. it wont hold it. buy a 1g bov from someone here or...
DUDE!!! dont even bother getting new lifters. yours are good and your ticking is not as bad as some other peoples. these cars just have a lot of lifter tick. if u want the ticking to stop... I recomend using Royal purple 10w30 I had same prob. this oil will help.:thumb:
Just do what the mechanic said!!! pull the positive off when car is running. If car dies or barely idles its the alternator.. with a good alt. u can pull the pos wire off and the car will run just as good w out the battery hooked up.. :talon:
Ya thats why u cant boost past 9 or sometimes 10 psi man. the bov is leaking and not allowing you to boost to the 11 your looking for. you actualy should boost to about 14psi since you did the bcs mod. but put that 1g bov in and you should be in good shape. :thumb: :talon:
hey the ticking that is there and then goes away definately sounds like lifter tick. These cars are notorious for that. Like the other guys recommended......USE ROYAL PURPLE.. Its expensive but it solved my ticking problem.
hmm. strange. this is turning out to be a hard one to troubleshoot. another possiblility is this.. The o-rings in your valve cover could be worn and oil getting into the plugs.. seems like the prob is because the car is warm but may be bc the oil is circulating and getting on the plugs not...
i took water in the mas on a truck of mine. that killed the mas. im pretty sure thats what the prob is. when u try and stomp on the pedal real quick it probably boggs down too huh? thats what mine did.
hmm. u might want to kick the BISS up a little bit. make sure the o-ring is still on there. check all the vaccum lines that hook up to the bcs. did u install any new ones like the silicon ones? put those little pipe clamps back on there even though most people say u dont need them. they can...
hey. I suggest u get an aftermarket boost gauge. I bet you are probably boosting higher than 14psi. I know that u are only (supposed) to boost up to about 14psi w restricter out and some will argue that that is as high as it will go...well that is crap. i took mine out and did the free mods too...
Well first of all friend... once your car is running you can unplug your battery and the car will run just fine bc the alternator is now generating your power. so it is not the battery. a bad alternator will still read 13-14 volts... its the amperage that degrades in a bad alternator....;)...
Sorry to critisize jonB but he said his vacuum dropped. he obviosly has a vacuum leak somewhere. Remember he has a turbo. i noticed the (N/T) in your cars title. so please let us turbo guys give the kid advice. dont wanna mix him up.....:thumb:ya so keep checking for vacuum leaks man. umm...
That means u have a leak somewhere....that is probably why yours is not as loud.. part of that air is venting somewhere else. check all the vacuum lines and make sure no leaks.. if one of your friends will let u. u can put one of their BOV's on your car and see what the vacuum reads.
Use some JB weld....
but once its there its there for good. lol
its almost as good as realy welding it.... I've used it to fix radiators, and even a small crack in a head onetime. good luck:thumb:
the valve tapping until u rev it up...thats funny it seems like about half of us have that prob. I think the lifters tick alot in these cars. mine does that too. but it mostly all went away when I switched to Royal Purple. try that next time u do and oil change...:talon:
drive your car. boost up and let off the gas. u should see the boost needle back off quickly and go into vacum readings... if no.. then your BOV is bad. thats how ya know.:thumb: :talon:
Hey that sucks man. mine is the same way!!! all I did though was grab hold of the fender and pull it out a little. now the door can clear the fender...funny. this prob happened to me also when the door was operated by my gf.... I think DSM's get jealous...LOL. good luck
this is just a shot in the dark. but nobody mentioned this possibility yet. Maybe the BOV is just leakin all that air out? think so? but I think most likely air is escaping through the exhaust mani. good luck.
I havent heard about only the talons haveing probs man. sounds like that came from somene who only is down witht the eclipse's....LOL they were all manufactured off the same assembly line so pretty much a DSM is a DSM no difference in eagles, mitsus or pymouths. except body of course...laterz
Check the manufacture date on your engine and tell them at the autoparts store. maybe they are giving you the wrong filter. that happend to me....good luck
IT sounds like your BOV is leaking. too bad the 2g ones are mostly plastic. turning up the boost prolly was too much for it. see if u can borrow somone's 1g bov or wait till u get yours. try and just get one from a junk yard for cheap. then go from there.
Hey you said that no more fluid is leaking and it is still doing this right? If this is true the most likey problem is that you need to bleed the hydraulic system. sounds funny that this is the prob but it has happend to me b4. i installed a new slave. and it didnt fix my clutch pedal from just...
Hmm. that sounds odd. the only thing that comes to mind to me is if maybe your gead gasket is going out... once the car heats up the head gasket should expand and be ok. but when its cold you are losing compression. question.....DOES your car by any chance blow a lot of white smoke out the tail...
hey. If the ticking came after you changed the oil. its the oil you are using. the lifters in these cars seem to tick alot if you dont use the right kind of oil. they arent getting the lubrication they need. my car had same prob man. i suggest you use royal purple 10w-30 oil. if u cant afford it...
Hey buddy. dont waste 3 hours of your life trying to do some science experiment of a test!!!! ;) Its widely known that this prob is almost always caused by a bad sending unit. We have a DSM mechanic where I live and he told me that the sending units go out alot in these cars. so just buy a new...
Hey. Just wanted to let you know that if the upper radiator pipe is not full then yes your thermostat is bad. thats universal and I've had this prob before. change that puppy!:thumb:
They end par of the plug (the part closest to the wires) shoul have a little tiner lever piece. just try and SQEEZE it realy hard while pulling it off. dude. you are getting to excited over an easy task. that happens to all of us and we can't concentrate... i suggest having a beer and take a...
You could either boil some water and soak the tube till its soft enought to stretch onto the flange, or go to hardware store, and get some sort of pipe minimizer that will work too.
I had same prob with an 89 civ. Most likely it is because the idle is too high. What happens is there is too much fuel pressure. once it sits for a while (usual 10-20 mins) then the excess pressure is relieved and car will start again. does that sound like what your car does??? try to lower the...
If you want u can just use any ground and for the power tap wire it into the wire that goes to your cigarette lighter fuse. that way when u turn on your car the gauge lights up. or wire it into the gauge light fuse so when u turn on your running lights and gauges the boost gauge lights up. thats...
Hey. I've read all your postings man and the other guy is right. I'm almost sure your ECU is BAD... the boost gauge stock sucks and it doesnt read that accurate bc it read off the ECU. thats why your boost gauge no longer works even though u r boosting fine. thats also why your MAF seems like...
I've heard that air pockets in your coolant system can cause low idle. try this. to get rid of possible air.... run your engine with the radiator cap off untill it is warm. Keep runnin the engine if there is any air in there it will come out. wait till no more bubbles pop to the surface and the...
