I had a built 6 bolt 2liter in my 2G with STOCK IC and pipes, head, cams, intake manifold and all the rest. Major nods were built motor, MHI e3 16g, 550's, DSMLink and a forge diverter valve with exhaust and it made 332fwhp and 349fwtq. This was on 50% E85 and pump gas mix at ~21psi falling...
I have a 2.4L with a 6152e in a .82 turbine housing from PTE. Definately get the 4bolt housing not te 5bolt. The car made 420whp@20psi, 487whp@23psi pump gas, 515whp@25psi and 585@30psi. 32psi netted 603whp and 520lb/ft torque. On the street the car has 20+psi boost by 4k and pulls like an...
I hope you dont mind running 18-20psi minimum. I put a small 16G into a stock turbine housing and it would not hold any less than 19psi. So I set it to 19psi and it holds solid till redline. Just make sure you are prepped for 19psi all the time.Later
I am not familiar with the block codes but if it is a 2.0 NA then it is most likely a 4G63 NA with a new engine code and it will be fine to rebuild. If you are rebuilding I would suggest forged pistons. If it is a 1.8 or any other displacement then you are screwed. Also if it is a 2.0 NA...
Do the MAP sensor mod and tune for highest boost on the map sensor as WOT and be off. It will interpolate between low boost and high boost and make a nice fuel curve.Later
I have reused them many times as well and NEVER had a problem. ON an especially old one you can pull the thing apart and clean out any build up and rerivet it, but if you do MAKE SURE IT IS LINED UP ON DOWELS PROPERLY.Later
ONgreen performance has a HKS replica for sale that is dual drilled and is way nicer than the RevHard. It is also more money but you get what you pay for.Later
If you are putting this on a DSM it is way too large a turbine side and the wrong compressor side. The 57 trim is better suited to lower boost levels on larger motors. There are many better turbos for a DSM than that one and prob all less expensive.Later
I would also not recommend an EVO 16G without an upgraded o2 housing since the turbine exit is larger than the hole in the o2 housing on a stock or 2G o2 housing. Taht will cause a lot of turbulence in the exhaust and hurt power.Later
The only problem I have with DSMLink is the timing control and it may have been fixed in newer versions that just moves timing regardless of load so if you add 3 degrees at 3500 it ALWAYS adds 3 degrees at 3500. No load variances. If that is fixed then it is awesome for 99% of the people and...
For the cost of having 2G pistons and 1g rods machined to work together plus a new ring set for the 3G pistons you should just buy a set of wiseco pistons. They are only 375 from summit and they are forged and can be had in 8:1 or 8.8:1 and they are FAR superior to stock 2G pistons.Later
I have deleted the oil squirters on turbo blocks that were stroked. The oil squirters have 2 pieces. The way I did it was I took the squirters off the base and then I filled the bottom of the squirters base with JB weld. The oil pressure presses the JB weld in place and it cant ever come out...
Then at 12:1 A/F the chart would read like this:450cc 300 and 375
550cc 366 and 458
660cc 440 and 550
680cc 453 and 566
720cc 480 and 600
780cc 520 and 650
1000cc 667 and 832
1600cc 1066 and 1333Sorta seems to agree with my statement that 450cc will support...
I quoted myself because I want people to realize that this has been said time and again. 300whp on 450's is def feasable. The difference is how well the car is set up to do it. Pump gas and race gas come in to play only due to the cars efficiency. I have personally tuned a DSM that made...
I wanted to be this guy and I offered a bet to anyone willing to accept it. I would install the 450;s in my car setup to make more and take it to the dyno and do 300whp IF when I did it the people who told me it was "impossible" and a "ludicrous claim" and all other BS to JUST PAY FOR THE DYNO...
Well I have recently heard at the DSMShootout that Rizzoti Racing made 560whp on a STOCK rotating assembly. Stock block minus balance shafts!!! That is pretty impressive. He told me he has a built 2.0 ready to go in though and he just wanted to push the envelope but isnt staying with stock to...
I personally have seen a stock injector car make 248whp at 16psi with stock SMIC. This was without hitting fuel cut either. The ECU will fuel cut well before the injectors are maxxed out. When we upped the boost to 21psi the car had fuel cut issues so we swapped in 550's only to get around...
What A/F ratio are you suing to come up with these numbers? I have personally seen a much higher hp per cc on these cars. If all else is functioning properly and you are tuned properly the injectors are good for tons of power. On a DSM with just VPC, FPR, fuel pump, SAFC and full exhaust I...
I would prob only run about 18-19psi with the injectors being so large until you get something such as a DSMChips Eprom to compensate for those huge injectors since larger injectors with an SAFC or anything like that will result in too much timing advance. If you retard your base timing it will...
It could have been damage surfacing from the previous owner. It could have had an oil pump failure. You cant ASSUME this is the owners fault except I would stop driving if my car ever was not functioning properly. I have seen several of these recently develope rod knocks and then toss rods...
The main problem with BS isnt the free power it is RELIABILITY. If you rev your motor to higher rpms the bearings in the Balance shaft can spin and block the oil feed holes and lock them up and destroy your motor.Balance shafts are crappy. If the 4G never had them it would be an almost...
I bought two sets of 680cc injectors from RX7's that were 20 years old (1984 RX7) and sent them out to be flow tested and cleaned. They flowed within 1% of eachother BEFORE CLEANING and the same afterwards. 680, 680, 680, 684. Also RX7 is a harsh climate for injectors as they are way hotter...
You need stroker specific pistons so dont go advising people to just "throw a 2.4 crank in your 2l" as that will have thier pistons smashing into thier heads.Later
If you pull it apart and there is no damage to the head or block from the MLS headgasket warping or shifting then you can reuse it or buy a new one and make it seal up. I always use Copper SprayAGasket when I do MLS Hg's. I have even put USED MLS HG's in cars without ANY machine work to the...
Well FP now offers a dual spring and Ti retainer setup for the FP3's for 375 and it includes spring seats and NO MACHINE WORK IS NEEDED to install them. I opted for the FP2 only because I didnt want to spend the 400 now (I am broke).Later
Well a larger turbo properly installed on an otherwise stock car will NOT be slower, it can be the same or faster and it can lead to a blown motor. I have run bigger turbos on stockish cars (Fuel pump and hacked MAF) and they were pretty good running cars. Anything is faster than a blown up...
Leaving the front shaft in is a bad idea. The oil grooves on the shaft dont go the whole way around the shaft for a reason. When the front shaft doesnt spin like when the BS belt is broken you will have VERY LOW oil pressure at idle which can cause damage. The onyl way would be to weld the...
Supras arent prone to crankwalk. Chris Bergeman crankwalked two from about 1000 starts with the clutch in in a few days to tune the AEM. Just disconnect the clutch switch if you are starting a car a couple hundred times a day.Later
I would check and make sure your clutch is fully disengaging. If it is hard to shift slow that would indicate it isnt fully disengaged and dragging.Later
