I had a local machine shop do the work. The person is extremely thorough and did an amazing job with the shortblock and the head. I could not be happier with the outcome.
Head is still being worked on in this picture. Head should be done and assembled tonight. Here is the head all cleaned up and ready for assembly.God **** I cant wait. :rocks:
Thanks guys!Yeah, I was really happy when I saw how the pistons came out.10.5:1's are off the shelf, but these have almost a 0cc dome height while maintaining the same compression ratio. Ring land has been adjusted as well. If it wasent for those two requests I woulda had the pistons in a...
They are a custom set of 1400's from Wiseco. Took a while to get them. Also uses a 22mm HD wrist pin. Price was more or less the same, just took a little longer to receive them.
One of my 9:1 slugs got a little scuffed up on the side when it was in the 1g.Got some new 10.5:1's pistons and went with a little bigger turbo with a 9.5" race cover. This will be replacing my current HX52.Couldn't find a better reference for size. I can sit a 2 liter bottle of coke in...
Thank you. :)Work has been kicking my ass and keeping me from updating this for a while. I have more goodies that came in thats taking up my living space.
Valve cover just came back. I can never decide wether to shave the cover or leave the lettering and ridges.I decided to have the best of both worlds. I need to polish up the spark plug cover a bit, but the general idea is there.I love the color. These pictures just dont do it any justice...
Slippi, the felpro will work fine. Yeah, I dont touch the bolts until its time for it to go in the motor.I am just waiting on the block and head to go to the machine shop to make sure everything is still good and thats it. :)
Slippi84, I have been using the MLS gasket with an O-Ringed block for a while now without any issues (38+ psi constantly). I am aware of the rings your reffering to on the gasket. It doesnt cause any issues.
Slippi84, I promise this turbo will be maxed out (and then get tapped by some drugs for more power). This is just a plain HX-52 from a Volvo vehicle. I did not know about the HX52 Pro when I ordered this, which is fine. For 600 dollars to my door, I simply cannot complain.I think people are...

I've owned quite a few DSM's in the past 10 years.Everything from 1G dsm's, to 4G63 swapped colt/mirages and even a Galant VR4 which I loved to death. I suddenly realized I never owned a second gen dsm.Recently, I had an aluminum rod 2.0 motor with a Garrett T67 (twin scroll .84 ar) that...
The stock fuel pump was fubar and wasent supplying enough fuel. The only way to keep the car running normally was to richen the entire board. If it was zero'd out , it would sputter and stall. Raising it +50 brang it to normal cycling range on the a/f guage. When it was zero'd out the led...
How much should a head gasket replacment, clutch/flywheel, and new wheel bearings and rotors cost to have installed? I just picked up a 1g that needs some work yet I dont have the time to do it. What do most mechanics charge for something like this? I'm just trying to get an idea because I...
The rims are too dark for me to make it true gold. I could have adjusted the color level of the rim to try and manipulate the color, but I dont know how to yet. :(
Buy an 89 colt gt or mirage turbo. Then just drop in a 90 dsm motor. Everything bolts up as it should. It's like a regular dsm engine swap except a few issues.http://slow4cyl.org/content.php?content.1
Dont know about 2-3k, but I understand your point about how it can be done cheaper then the price of a *brand new* '03 Cobra. This was the point I was trying to put out in my earlier post. Comparing these two cars is like comparing apples to oranges. Yes theyre both fruits. But other...
Bench racing at its finest! :laugh:Stock for stock a cobra of all years will beat a dsm of any year. Quater mile, top speed, 0-60, reverse, 50-70 etc etc.You can mod a dsm (bolt ons) to be faster, but who's to say you cant slap on a Incon tt kit (bolt on) on a stang?Any car can be...
I'd take an r32 over a r33 or r34 any day of the week.It can be made rwd with just a simple removal of a fuse (but why?).
No electronic happergobble to interfere with your driving. Just you and the car.
Cheaper.
Lighter.
Cleaner looking (IMO).Sorry to go off the SRT-4 Topic.
I wish the link in the first post still worked so I knew what I have to do next. As you can see I have the outline, but how do I get the color on to it from the BG?
377ci (400 with 350 crank for that high rev short stroke) sbc with some type of tt setup crammed in a 1974 datsun 240 z and mated to a 2 speed powerglide. No one said the entire car had to be domestic :p :shhh:
Got bored at work. So I decided to take a picture of an AVDS 1750.V12, 1750ci, Twin Turbo. It came out of this M88So how possible do you think this swap is?
Question #1-*Turn's key*keieieieieieieieieieieieieieieieiei-vroooomWhy does it take so long for the motor to start up in the morning? It's one crank, but its really long. Is there any cheap way to fix it? Is it the starter? What should I look/check for?Question #2-When I...
Thank you guys for being so helpful. In return, I can give yo free car fax reprts on your cars :)Seems only fair I help people find out about the past of their cars considering they were nice enough to help me with my DSM.Just send me an email or message on AIM.My screenname is...
