I realize that these codes have been talked about a lot on the forum, and I have read a ton of posts but I still have not found all of my answers.
1999 420a n/t
I had my car for 2 years before my cel came on. Once it did come on it pulled these codes. Didn't bother with it BC I didn't need...
I currenly have a 1999 gs 420a and since I have the oz rally edition, my current tires are 205/55r16. I am looking for a bigger tires to fill some of my wheelwell space. I have searched about tire size on here for a gs but I cant find anything about the oz edition sizes. My car is not lowered...
a lifter tick and just want to buy all new ones, there are 2 different kind on rockauto.com and im not sure if one isnt compatible with my car or not, or what the difference is.$7.54 More Information for DNJ ENGINE COMPONENTS LIF150
$9.66 More Information for SEALED POWER HT2278Or...
I just noticed they have kyb shocks and kyb struts. Eveybody has a diff opinion on what shocks and struts are. But according to rockauto, which do I need?
Never heard of rockauto.com, are they a reliable source? Their kyb shocks are $35 a piece which is pretty cheap. And im not too intelligent on suspension, I would just need 4 of their kyb shocks to soften my ride right? Nothing more? My shocks now are pretty rough
Cant find any stock struts anywhere. I was told to stick with stock until I can afford konis. So I am looking for unused stock struts, unless anyone can refer me to a brand that would be $300 or under. Thanks
well with hearing with my ear, I hear it the most by the cam sprockets. so that's why I figured it might be my lifters. ### you wouldn't be able to hear it a ton thru the valve cover, you would be able to hear it most by the cam gaskets. well that was my opinion lol. would low oil damage the...
car got low on oil, started tapping, put oil in, next day idler pulley exploded, threw timing, bent valves. took the head out, fixed valves, seals, and resurfaced, put back together. engine is still tapping. now im guessing it's the tappets(lifters, lash adjusters, whatever you wanna call it) but...
Not too much of a mechanic, still learning. But my girl had my car for a week while I was out of town and when I got back I realized it was tapping Cuzz she said it go too low on oil. So I checked the oil and filled it up, still tapping. But the next day I started it up, I guess the idler pulley...
I tried using a cobalt bit and I've destroyed 2 of them. It eats it up after awhile. My titanium bit is lasting a lot longer then the cobalt ones. If all added up, I have probably spent 2 total hours of drilling this bolt. I'm using the titanium bit with a firm(not hard) pressure, Iv tried...
I'm sitting here drilling the bolt with a titanium bit and was going to try to use an easyout on it. But the damn drill bit won't dig into it far enough for the extractor to catch anything. Hard ass bolt
Was putting a new head on and was down to the last thing. The crank pulley. I tried to torque down to spec and the tip (3/4" of it) broke off inside of it. About 2 inches deep. I was going to try to drill it and tap a screwdriver into it to see if it will come out. But wanted to ask what you...
I got 6 more to do out of the 25. I bought some new helicoils. Off brand that are about half the price, but the coils were way thicker. The only problem I'm running across now is the 3 hollow studs that stick out of the head that the caps sit on. The coils are the same size as the stud. Any...
Ya I have never really had to mess with any threading besides tapping. So yes I am kind of inexperienced with this field. But I have already put so much money in my car just because my idler pulley exploded. Wasn't getting spark so changed a lot of stuff. And I have never messed with timing...
So you are saying put these studs in? And screw a nut onto it? How do you install studs? Am I up sizing the hole to 5/16? Putting more helicoils in? The screw stud in?
I got my head fixed ( couple valves replaced and had it resurfaced) but anyway, put it back on and when I got to the cam cap bolts, the threaded hole stripped out. I know this a pretty common problem but after searching, everyone says use helicoils. I noticed after trying to drill the hole some...
After timing slipped, I fixed the timing, but it ran like hell. So the only explanation would have to be the valves right? Should I worry about the machine shop? Or should I just buy a head?
My timing belt slipped because my idler pulley exploded, jumped about 15 teeth. Just got done pulling the head. I am wanting to know what I'm looking for. All the valves are closed and nothing looks to be wrong but idk if I need to press the valve springs to open em and inspect em. Or what all...
My car has hard time sparking, sparks when it wants. Could this be the harmonic balancer, throwing the cam and crank sensor off andb preventing it from starting?
I do have 1 cel. But I have had it sincw I bought the car. Is the 1459 I believe. Its the gas pressure in gas tank.
And thats good advice to check the timing, really helpful, I will try that when I get home tonight
I just used a compression tester that I rented feom autozone. I should probably try the leak-down test.
And about a week before the car died, my girl let it get low on oil, after oil light came on she put oil in it. But thats all I can think of
got a 99 gs 420a. walked out to my car and started it, while i was walking away it died. turned around and tried to start and wouldn't. been down for 6 days and have to rely on others to get to work and such.
But anyways I started by trying to figure out if I am getting spark and fuel.
I was...
I am getting fuel now, but at the coilpack =1 getting very small spark, 2 small spark, 3 strong spark, 4 no spark. I dont get it. And if I pull the plugs they are doused in fuel at the tips. So for some reason they arent burning the fuel
Would sommeone be able to help me with what each pigtail harness and everything else should read. Which wires are for what. Because I connected a multimeter to see what the resistance is, but that mainly tells me the wire is complete, doesnt mean you can get a good volt off off of it. So does...
Not around my car right now, but if I was to replace the harness, would i have to take every individual wire and transfer them to a new harness? That would be a big PITA. Isnt it like 80 wires?
Injectors do have fuel at them. A lot of pressure in fuelrail and the pump is working. No electricity to the injector pigtail though. Timing has been checked and is good. I didnt do anything to makenit not run, just went to start one morning and wouldnt start. My compression is low, but its the...
Placed a ohm meter from crank sensor pigtail to wiring harnes. Pulling a .1 ohm. Good resistance on it. No problem there. As long as the wires are .1- .3 in resistance it should fire no problen. Did the same thing with harness to coilpack. Didnt find a problem
I am testing for spark directly through thru a coilpack with a multimeter. And I get a pulse and yes I checked the plugwires resistance, all 4 checked good. I also pluged the wires in an grounded a sparkplug to the manifold and put near the wires to see ifbitnwould arc. The same ones that arc...
I am getting spark to 2 and 3 but not 1 and 4. I have changed the coilpack, plugs and wires, crank positioning sensor, camshaft positioning sensor, new battery, asd relay. I checked all wires on the circuit with a DMM. Wires are good from ecu to coilpack, coilpack to ground, ecu and ground to...
I have changed the coilpack, plugs and wires, crank positioning sensor, camshaft positioning sensor. I have checked to make sure all injectors are getting a signal and they are. I checked all wires on the circuit with a DMM. Wires are good from ecu to coilpack, coilpack to ground, ecu and ground...
