Slowly up your boost while tuning and make sure you aren't getting any knock. You're going to be limited by the Walbro 190 and 560's, but as long as the tune is safe 18 should be fine. Everybody's car is different, so nobody can tell you yes for sure. It all depends on your tune.
I would start with a simple boost leak test before you jump into buying new ECU's and expensive stuff. It could be something as simple as that. Check the biss screw setting, get a new biss screw o-ring, and get new injector seals.
Does it surge at idle or just stall? Like someone else said, it...
Glad to see my car went to a good owner. I can't wait to see it running the streets!
As for the motor mount stud, they won't come out of the mount itself. The bracket they bolt into has the broken bolt. You'll either have to replace that bracket or remove the motor mount to drill out the...
As far as the brakes, try bleeding them. Make sure to do all 4.
For the crappy idle and stalling, test the MAF to make sure it is working properly. Check out this thread on how to do that:

If that is working properly...
+1 on the CX Racing/Punishment kit. No issues. Everything bolts up pretty well with no major fabrication. As for a BOV, garage mod a 1g bov. It will take about as much boost as you can throw at it and it's a much cheaper route than an aftermarket bov. Here's a link...
Loop the coolant lines. Also check the oil return line from the turbo for a leak. Check at the turbo and where it attaches to the oil pan. If you just installed the turbo, I hope you used new gaskets for the return line.
If you plan on running the 16g, I wouldn't bother using the 4" intake. Get something cheap like a dejon or injen design that will fit to a 2g MAF and has the same size diameter as a 16g inlet.
What he said. Send a pic of the middle journal to see if it has a groove. If it does, it's the split thrust. If not, it's an early block.Either way, you'll need to get the thrust bearings.
That is correct. If you had a split thrust block, the 3 piece bearing would go on the block side. But you don't.The bearing half with the oil hole will go on the block side. The hole in the bearing will align with the oil hole in the block, except on the middle thrust bearing. The hole will be...
This is what you need:
http://www.extremepsi.com/store/product.php?productid=19651&cat=1338&page=1
It should come with the middle "thrust bearing" and the rest of the 4 main bearings.
It will be 10 pieces total.
If you in fact have an early 97 block (non split thrust), then you don't need the thrust washers. Only the split thrust design with the 3 piece bearing use them. And as far as I know, you actually have to order the washers separately.
You will have to get the 95-97 bearings since the ones you...
Just take your time when assembling and double check everything. Get assembly lube where it's supposed to go and make sure you get the correct torque specs for all the bolts. Make sure you get a big box of plastic gloves too. Trust me, you'll go through them. It's nerve wracking the first time...
I swapped a harness into my car and my issue is with the mpi relay. On the old harness, it is a two piece connector. The new harness is just one piece. Should I splice in the old connectors or get a mpi relay to fit the one piece? Thanks for the help.
Thanks man I appreciate it. There will be more to come.I've been gathering up used parts lately. As soon as I get the time, I'm getting the engine all put back together. Wire tuck is half done. Then the shaving begins. As for the spring rate, I have no idea what I'm actually going with...
Blown head gasket. So I guess my money was well wasted on this kit.PM sent!So I've been trying to figure out what I actually got in this kit. I was told the number on the kit was HSMI23. When I received the kit, it seems like I got a mixture of two kits. One number is CBSMI23N and the...
I bought a topline gasket kit second hand new off a member on here. When I got it, I noticed the head gasket wasn't in the best shape. Is this still able to be used? Or should I get a different one?Another gasket I had a question about was the exhaust manifold gasket. I've never seen...
So the calipers are the same? I can use GSX calipers and pads with the outlander rotors? What about the brackets? I always thought if you were using the outlander rotors, you needed the outlander brackets and calipers as well.
