Well I'm looking for a rough power estimate of a car I recently purchased. I'm not sure of all of the mods, so I'll just tell you what I know about it.1997 TSi AWD
4G64 Engine
Eagle Rods
Wiseco Pistons
272 Cams
BC Springs and Retainers
Big 16G Turbo
880cc Injectors
Walbro 255 Fuel Pump...
Well we call them hook rings here, and I've found that standard pliers work better so thats what I said. Also, wouldn't it make more sense to take the cover off rather than trying to dye it while its still attached?
I've seen a 2g with what appears to be 4-5 4" or so circles cut out of the front bumper. I've never seen it in person, just on craigslist a dozen times.Edit: Found it http://altoona.craigslist.org/cto/2827255107.html
Alright, so I've been wondering which tools from HF actually hold up and which ones don't. The majority of my tools are Snap-On/MAC/Craftsman and I'd like to start doubling up on tools I use more often. If anyone has used HF tools and had a good or bad experience then by all means feel free to...
Although my style has changed significantly over the years, I have to appreciate the F&F Eclipse. Thats the car that got me into DSM's, and I'm sure many others too.
Thanks for the info on the head :) but I'm certain thats what I'm getting. The person thats selling it to me is a really good friend that I met when we were in tech school together. He actually built it for a class project, but thanks for looking out :hellyeah:
The reason I'm asking this is because the Talon I'm buying has a 4G64 in it, its already pretty heavily modded, but I'm getting it for $3k so I can't really be picky. I just wasn't sure if having the 4G64 was a good thing or not. Do a lot of people use the same head?
I'm sure you'll have to take the seat cover off, I'm not sure exactly how to do it, but you'll probably need some hook rings and a pair of pliers to reattach the cover to the frame.
Alright, so I'm fairly new to DSM's (former Subaru guy) and I see a lot of people using 4G64 and G4CS engines. Whats the advantages of these over a 4G63, and main differences. Can you interchange certain parts? Thanks in advance.
Found this on Wikipedia, it's hard to tell how accurate it is though.Base - No tachometer, standard antenna, No rear defroster, no driving lights, 14-inch steel wheels with covers or center caps, vinyl trimmed seats, rear drum brakesRS - Tachometer, 14-inch alloy wheels, optional spoilerGS...
Check the hoses to make sure nothing came apart, hold the switch for the wiper fluid on for 10 seconds or so and look for leaking under your car, or better yet have a buddy help. If nothings leaking then either the hoses or nozzles are clogged.
They look like chrome SVT Focus wheels, but the Focus is 4 bolt 2002-03 SILVER SVT FOCUS WHEEL [M-1007-S177] - $125.95 : CHICAGO CONNECTION, Your High Performance Parts & Accessory Shop
The only problem I've had is getting the wrong slave cylinder, whether its for a 420a or a 4g63 they all seem to be packaged wrong, at least from Autozone they are. I think I drove to 5 different stores before I found the right one, they they had them all in the exact same package with the same...
Whenever I had my old RS I had a Magnaflow muffler/tip combo, it sounded a lot better than my friends Megan exhaust. It's hard to describe, but it was a lot deeper and not cracky at all. This may sound dumb, but at higher rpm's it almost sounded like a V12 inside of the car.
You definitely need an eclipse rear bumper as well, the 2G Talon tail lights are much taller than the ones off of the Eclipse. You'll need to look into getting reverse lights as well.
At least he can look good while going slow :thumb: I'd be saving my money to do something big though, just because you have a little bit of cash doesn't mean you need to throw it into your car as soon as you get it.
My best advice would be to just keep doing what you're doing and start from scratch. Its hard to tell what other little surprises you'll find throughout the car if they have a wooden mount for the intercooler, definitely keep us posted with your progress though.
I'm a new member, but I'm actually posting this for a friend. He has a 98 Eclipse GS, and about a year ago he ran off the road and bottomed out in a ditch, it didn't appear that he hurt anything until he shifted from first to second and it started grinding like crazy. All of the other shifts are...
I agree with the automatic trans idea, I prefer a manual, but every time I go to Pittsburgh and get stuck in bumper to bumper traffic I wish I could switch lol
