Keep your oil lines and turbo unhooked until you talk to a tuner? Sounds like they just dont want you to blow up your motor. Hook them up so you can install the exhaust as well, just dont be rip snortin' around!
It would mainly be for cosmetics in the end either way im assuming and you'd have to hack the other side of the rear bumper cover which would probably turn out pretty butch.. It looks pretty gross on these cars imo but to each his own. Not trying to burst bubbles.
Thats why the plastic portion of the uicp is smushed from the factory. The solution is obviously to get an adapter that connects a cone filter to the maf which is also cheap. Glad to hear you diagnosed your problem!
Have you found anything else out? I have the same problem on my car with same mods, but im hitting fuel cut. I thought I was crazy for hitting that with only a catback and intake. Maybe our issues have something in common.
Being on the stock downpipe also creates a huge bottleneck. Getting yourself a downpipe would open her up sooner.I never noticed at what rpm range youre reaching boost at?
I think you may be mistaken. Fuel cut has nothing to do with the size of your injectors or pump or anything like that. It is a preset limit in the ecu of how much air is coming into the engine. When the airflow reaches this limit it cuts spark and fuel as a safety measure so you dont continue to...
Thanks for the quick replies guys, and thanks boost for that detailed answer, that really cleared a lot of things up for me! But you speak of this fluke 87 but I have never heard of this. It must just be a datalogger huh? So my question is, if im planning on going black box ecu with...
If my maf was bad it could cause a funny idle correct? My car idles like it cant find the sweet spot, its totally different from a vacuum leak idle. Couldnt remember if I mentioned that or not, sorry. And yes by black box i meant the 98-99 black box ecu. But this is why im confused, if I have no...
Haha glad you liked it, but I guess the reason I didnt want to get a piggyback or link yet is because countless people have modded the exact same as me without any problems, so I thought something had to be wrong. I wouldnt want to continue modding or whatever without fixing this problem, but...
I changed my coil pack with a known good one and I took it for a test drive and it still bucks. Im 100% stumped. does anyone have anymore suggestions? No boost leaks, ngk blue wires, ngk bpr6es at .028, 190lph pump, peak 14lbs on t25 with 3" catback/test pipe, hard snorkel with k&n cone, 1g bov.
Is it squealing as you turn the wheel or while your steering wheel is still and your moving? Could be ball joints, that was my problem. Have a buddy help listen where the noise is coming from.
Thanks wes, ive read that somewhere, so im going to stick with replacing it with oem. Id rather it run well than look/sound cool. And yes my plugs are .028 with ngk premium blue wires, new fuel filter, fuel pump, and no boost leaks. Hopefully soon it will be time to continue my build:hellyeah:
Lol Yeah its definitely been plauging me for a while, but I told my mechanic to check my coils and said they were fine. This is the first car where im trying to do things myself and be my own mechanic and everything so i have room to learn. This is my first build as well, I just wanted to figure...
Yes thats exactly what it looks like! I couldnt believe that it could be eaten up like that. Thanks so much for the reply! Alright if I pm you in the next few days for the oem coil?
So I changed all four injector seals and replaced my bov gasket, did another boost leak test to find not one bubble anywhere in the entire system. I took it out for a drive and once im at 4500-5000 at 15lbs I still hit fuel cut. I got all the way through 2nd but cut out in 3rd. One thing I did...
Forgot to mention that I found a small leak in the plastic portion of my stock uicp. The leak is in the seams or whatever in the middle. Should I gorilla glue that hole shut or melt it together with a soldering iron? Any other ideas? The hole is very very small, but a leak nonetheless.
I decided to do another BLT with soapy water after my mechanic claimed to have absolutely no leaks, and found my BOV's gasket was leaking, and all for injector seals were having a bubble bath. I'll report results once leaks are fixed.
Decided to run seafoam again just for kicks, found a nice leak between the manifold and turbo so could also be affecting O2 readings, but wot operation doesnt read that...im stumped guys!
Sorry, I'm on the stock downpipe yet. My boost gauge reads a steady 13-14 pounds. When I'm accelerating, I can go very high in the rpm's no problem if I'm mid-throttle, but if I go full throttle it cuts out at 4500-5000. I don't know if this helps, but before all this, my battery died and when I...
Alright guys, I'm reviving my thread from quite a while ago. I've had several more things done, and still havent figured this problem out so I'm just looking for more advice, but I don't expect it to be fixed over a keyboard. So after thinking is was fuel cut to then just a simple top end...
Like 1990AWD said, O2 dump has nothing to do with recirculating the blow off valve. I think you might be confused and mixing up terms...O2 Dump is when your O2 housing doesn't recirculate wastegate gases back into the exhaust, it just dumps it into the atmosphere.I think your confusion...
I couldn't hear my bov at all with the stock ic piping, bov, and recirculated into the stock rubber snorkel. I didn't think much of it because it was all stock and what not, but it turned out to be a massive boost leak in the intercooler inlet because it was dented in from the previous owner...
http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/frequently-answered-dsm-questions/174055-everything-you-want-know-about-maf-translator-maft.htmlSorry if the link doesn't work, first time i've tried haha hope it helps.
My budget is around the $300 mark yes, but I'm looking for a small 16g preferably with a 34mm wastegate mod, which i know SIM's doesn't have. I wanted to know if anyone had experience with them because I've already been screwed over when it comes to buying a turbo, and don't feel like being a...
To add to the previous post, if you choose a BOV that has to be bolted on, you can get an adapter flange that will slip into the stock intercooler piping like the stock BOV does. That's how I have my 1g installed, but i've only seen it for the Type S as well. Haven't really looked though.
Thank you very much for the replies guys! Yeah I was a little hesitant on the price so I thought I would ask. I was thinking about china partss myself, but yeah I was thinking about calling and asking them directly, but I didn't think a company would admit to making cheap faulty products that...
Hey guys, so I clicked on one of the advertisements for Strictly Import Motorsports at the top of our website, and came across their Big 16g for $299.00. So that's right in my range and i wanted a 16g, but what is your opinion on the quality of their Big 16g? Does anyone have experience with...
An even cheaper replacement would be the 14b (stock 1g manual turbo and flows more than t25). I guess it depends on your goals though. small 16g>14b>T25. If you go with the 16g or 14b you'll need a j pipe, water lines, and oil lines.edit: ^^T28 is direct bolt up including the lines.
I too have been experiencing this problem. When it's cold it feels like a very weak and almost "sputter-like" accelteration and then all of a sudden the boost kicks in, very hard at that. As said in the original post, if I let her warm up a bit it'll run just fine! It also seems to struggle a...
yeah i tossed some fuel injector cleaner in there just to try, it obviously can't hurt, but idk we will see i guess!! but yeah when you say theres probably a lot of stuff in there beyond the cleaner's cabability, i totally believe that. hahabut as to logging and for the multimeter, i don't...
So I fixed that leak by using a pipe expander to round it back out, and then using a high compression hose clamp and now I have no leaks at all. I went out on a drive and it did it again, but only this time it wasn't as bad. As a matter of fact, it wasnt anywhere near as bad so I'm not convinced...
Update: After doing a BLT i found a pretty hefty leak coming from my intercooler inlet. It seems as if the owner before me bottomed out or somthing and smushed the bottom of the inlet inwards and now theres a big leak. I'm going to see if I round the inlet out again and get the piping to seal...
Yes I'm still on the t25, and like you said i think it would be tough to overboost it seeing as it becomes inefficient at 15psi, and my boost gauge is staying at 11psi when im WOT. I just bought everything i need to do a BLT and I'm going to do that tomorrow and tell all of you about the swiss...
So I changed the fuel filter, holy balls was that over due! It looked like chunky oil pouring out of there! but I took it for a spin after a little bit of a drive and came out with the same results:banghead: I'm planning on "bypassing" my boost gauge because i wouldn't doubt that there is a...
Hey thank you for the replies guys, but yeah the jerk is very violent and I just tried tonight after tightening a clamp around my BOV that was very very loose hoping that would do it, but it still did (including another loud 'pop').
And We're on Boost, to be honest I highly doubt the fact that...
Those were my thoughts exactly, but I wasn't too sure. And yeah thats what I thought what the problem could be, just that the coupler isn't totally sealed, but I hit such a wall when I was testing it out on the road that I immediately thought it was fuel cut.Thank you for the replies...
Sorry I didn't specify, in your terms, the snorkel. There's also a K&N open cone filter on the end just thought I'd add. I check my MAF and it looked very clean including the electrical connector. Question about the BLT: don't BLT's usually involve taking off the air intake and using a coupler...

Hey guys, I realize there are millions of threads about this, but I can honestly say i didn't find another thread the same as this, but I don't really have a whole lot of time right now to just search for too long, so any help is greatly appreciated!
So i purchased a new intake and got it...
