You must understand that these wires are running next to each other in a factory harness anyway. Any kind of induction or interference would be encountered with factory wiring, the concentric twisting makes no difference. It’s also not putting everything in a drill and winding it up.As was...
I never understood this mentality. Why break things when you don't have to? Especially on cars with parts as rare as these. Also that clutch is kind of a recipe for transmission breakage.Dig the car itself though. Are you planning to roadrace it then? Looks good, and nice wheel choice.
DR-25 is definitely extremely flexible. Raychem has a bunch of different heat shrinks for different tasks, but DR-25 is purpose built for going over long sections of harness. You can bend it just as much if not more than the bare harness.Service loops are created at the back of a booted...
Maybe you're not familiar with just how superior DR-25 is to braided sleeving? It is fire retardant and much, much more abrasion resistant compared to braided stuff. It also provides mild strain relief, and it doesn't allow oil and dirt ingress into the harness. It is absolutely an upgrade. I...
Been involved with DSM's since 2009, I'm not going anywhere haha. Yeah I guess you can take my second post as defensive, but I don't really care. If people see that as a negative, it's not my problem. I was providing answers to questions and backing up those answers with facts about myself and...
Hmm yeah, but better. I wasn't aware they made so many things. Thanks for the heads up.I knew they made engine harnesses, but I see now they make a lot of stuff. Interesting. Once again sales don't really matter to me, I'm just looking to provide for the community if they need it. Seems like...
Hey thanks. Yeah I'm just looking to provide support for people that need it. I have a full time job that more than pays the bills. I've always loved DSM's and 90's imports in general. I realize the market is small, especially for something like this. When I acquire another DSM I'm sure I'll end...
#1: I'm not interested in taking people's money without the part being completed. This would be a "here's the part on the shelf, you can buy it" kind of deal. Been on this forum since 2011 and part of the dsm world since before then. I have a long history in the S-chassis world including...
Hi there. The point of this thread is discuss the interest for motorsports-spec wiring for the DSM community and what specifically the community needs.First I'll give you some examples of the kind of wiring I'm talking about (my work):(Not yet booted)Secondly, you might have seen my...
Yes, no diesel oil for high revving gas cars! While I very much appreciate someone else saying it besides me, you might be misunderstanding a few things.
1. It's not the detergent package that you should be afraid of. The detergents in high quality oil are all pretty close, and you do want to...
Are you talking about greasing the axles where they go through the hubs/diff? No grease is needed here, not sure where you heard that you should grease them. I usually put some anti-seize on them but that's because I'm in the midwest and everything gets a little crusty.
Turbo overspeed is a serious issue that will kill any brand of turbo. Maybe not as spectacularly as this FP failed, but fail nonetheless. Sorry that happened man, but it's good to see you in good spirits and getting the car back together!
You can blame government regulation for that.Only issue I've ever had with Rock auto is they can't ship me the cheap and good brake clean because it's not legal for sale here in Michigan, hah.
I can build you one if the female connectors for the ECU are available. I'm not sure if they are, but I can do some looking around if you're interested.
You are doing it the correct way for sure, using break in oil and additional ZDDP to break in a flat tappet. Ideally every engine should be broken in on non-detergent non-synthetic break-in oil. Liquimoly also has a very good ZDDP additive if you run out of that stuff. Most of the information...
You're correct in one sense, but they are developing additive technologies to try and replace the boundary layer anti-wear of ZDDP, which is why you see moly and boron levels are typically elevated in modern street car oils. Also, there are plenty of boutique oil manufacturers that still make...
I have attached a spreadsheet of my own making of oils in the 0w40-5w50 range with as much info as I can find on them. Hopefully it's useful to people. I have marked out the best and worst "performance" figures in various shades of red or green, the darker the worse or better respectively...
What front suspension is on the car as far as shocks and springs go? How old are they?Have you replaced any bushings? Most of wheel hop is poorly damped shocks and overly compliant bushings oscillating in an uncontrolled manner. Wheel hop is very bad for the drivetrain as it loads and...
There are white papers on this. Also, if you do some reading, you can figure out that a lot of companies use cheap base oils and very general additive packages, especially in gear oil. Plenty of oils out there superior to Diaqueen, but you'll have to get past the dogma of "It's all I've used and...
The easy way to do this is cut the OEM connectors off your factory harness and make short jumper harnesses to something like a Deutsch DTM connector. This way you don't have to do any of that mumbo jumbo and you have a more servicable harness should anything happen to it.To the OP: I've done...
True. Most are either very bare-bones race cars, or they run two. There are a few PMU's out with more outputs, but they're relatively new to market and so don't have the history of reliability like the others. A lot of people build their non-essential chassis wiring out with cooper bussman fuse...
That's not how any of this works. Get ECMlink or a Link G4X plug-in and do it the right way. The map sensor is a reference sensor, the ECU adjusts fueling based on the MAF reading, which is why it can adjust for a mild increase in boost on stockish sized turbos. Trying to cobble things and...
Do you have results from them individually? If you don't, I think you'll find the accusump is doing the bulk of the work. The pan helps mostly with capacity.
Or it doesn't have enough capacity for sustained G's? The Moroso pan isn't really that great for road racing. You're better off making your own pan with an actual diamond baffle around the oil pickup. I considered sending my pan off to NZ to have Racefab modify it, but that was a bit too rich...
I've wired an Evo X with a MoTec PDM. You're really looking at building a new harness from scratch, as the PDM sends power directly to components, and that kind of circuit is usually considerably different than the factory wiring. Trying to adapt the factory wiring would be... weird. Far more...
POR15 is great if the surface prep is perfect, you don't mind a brush finish (it'll self-level on a horizontal surface but not necessarily a vertical one) or you have access to professional spray equipment, and you can do it all in one go (it requires aggressive scuffing to adhere to itself if...

HaltechI think those are the best entry-level standalone management units on the market. AEM is not very intuitive and lacks some key features like trigger oscilloscopes. Of course there's more expensive units out there like MoTec, etc, but I think these are the best bang...
I went through this same debate last year, and for me personally, factoring in convenience of application and total effectiveness, I decided on Eastwood products. I sent an e-mail to Eastwood asking how to best do an entire undercarriage for maximum protection and this was their response:I...
See above. That was easy. They've gotten better at designing things, but they still have some terrible bushings out that bind badly. I lube my sway bar bushings twice a driving season and they've been fine, but I've seen plenty blow out after a couple years of no lube. Urethane is very 'sticky'...
Don't put energy suspension bushings in any place where the part rotates. Urethane is fine for static mounts, but it's terrible for moving control arms. It binds much more aggressively than rubber and it also has much less sheer strength. Without constant lubrication it will fail. Get new rubber...
A proper canyon carver alignment is going to have static negative camber. Camber doesn't affect tire wear, especially with a small amount you'd use on a car like that. Toe is what eats tires. Negative camber gives you better turn in and more grip because it compensates for body roll/suspension...
How much camber does 1.5" of lowering give you? It's likely an advantage for handling purposes. Those ball joints are a PITA and only provide a tiny bit of adjustment. My advice is leave it alone and enjoy the benefits of negative camber.
GT-R and Audi coils use internal ignitors. No other box is needed.IGN1A's, LS truck coils, GT-R coils, there are all kinds of options. The Sparktech CDI is an M&W box with a sticker over the label. At the end of the day, do what you want. I was just trying to save you an eventual headache.
There’s no point in using thick plates. Use factory gauge sheetmetal. Like I said in your other thread, cut out the rust and butt the new material up against the old stuff.
Looking good. I hope you sanded the shit out of that Por15 before you sprayed the top coat though! I did my rear subframe without doing much prep and it's currently coming off in sheets, though the por15 is still rock solid haha.
This is very odd execution. I hope it's what you want it to be when you're done, but the height of that exhaust vs the height of the car means this thing is destined to be a 4x4 without the awd. I guess it's kind like a small truck at this point. I'm not sure why, with all the fabrication you've...
