Just like the title says, I want to Plastidip my quarter pannel windows black so it will match the roof when my kit arrives, but I'm wondering if that's illegal in Missouri?
I'm rarely on the forums just doing my own thing keeping the car running and planning along. Seems everyone does switch back and forth between gateway dsm when the summer hits.
Posted this in the newbie section when this belongs in electrical....
I have a 96 eclipse rs 2.0 N/AThis weekend I drove my car like normal, no CEL. Then I turned it off, came back later to start it, and no fuel pump hum. I checked and replaced the fuel pump relays and nothing. I replaced...
Ok, so this weekend I drove my car like normal, no CEL. Then I turned it off, came back later to start it, and no fuel pump hum. I checked and replaced the fuel pump relays and nothing. I replaced the fuel pump with a used one and the car fires up.Then comes sunday when I want to take my car...
@jayson427 Thats a good plan, I will start looking for a motor and slowly build up a list of parts with it. As For DSM Graveyard..... I now understand the "Graveyard" in the name. I will definitely start saving up for a Megasquirt and go from there. Thanks guys! :thumb:
I've been thinking about upgrading the components of my 420a's head for a while now.The only thing that keeps me in the planning stage is if i never overheated, and I'm still on the factory head gasket with 100k miles, I should go ahead and replace it right? Also, do I need to worry about...
I just recently changed the spark plugs within a month, just got new plug wires when i replaced the plugs. I havent touched the fuel filter yet, but the fuel pump is new. I removed my restricted cat and hope to increase the inlet/outlet diameter, but now I have a test pipe on.
Can my TPS be going bad even if it's not throwing my check engine light?I can push the pedal down while driving and I don't speed up much at all.
No clutch slippage, no head gasket or compression issues.Could my Vacuum also be backwards somewhere?
The vacuum tee that screws into the intake manifold is what I'm talking about, was at a loss of words yesterday, autocross day lol.I'm still looking for the piece.here is a picture, its not really causing much of an idle problem. My vacuum gauge just doesn't work any more.
Hey guys, was just looking at my car this morning and noticed my 3 way fitting on my intake manifold snapped on one piece, where can i find another one?????
Just wondering if there will be any DSMs out on the track or the parking lot this sunday. I'll be racing the family car, a 2010 cobalt, and My eclipse will be there on the parking lot
My computer build is a budget gamer build, always changing, right now, sitting on a 2.93ghz core 2 duo , the 2GB of DDR2 ram could use 2GB more ram, and Im running a $45 new nvidia 9800GT + or whatever and im playing skyrim on high, Cs source is my main game, and now im playing the Race 07...
Ok, still working more and more on this, I will get a video going tomorrow, I'm starting to think its now transmission related as well. 99RedGs the clutch might be slipping, but the clutch was brand new when I bought the car, the receipt was a month before I bought the car 3 years ago. I might...
alright, doing more work on the car, it is not the clutch, the tob is fine, im going under the console tomorrow to look at the shift bushings, also see the clutch pedal has too much play.
Hey guys. I've been battling with my car again. I'm still not getting any power, I accelerate very slowly for some strange reason. My car is still not throwing any CELs. Today I replaced my cat with a test pipe and I got a little power back but still nothing. Like my last posts, compression and...
My transmission (96 eclipse 2.0) is making a grinding noise only in 1st gear after 2700 RPM. The Syncs are fine, no grinding when I shift or anything. When doing the engine swap, I just put everything back. The transmission had no problems until I bolted down the shifter linkages. How can I...
Wait, I thought they still had the SCCA sponsored Professional Driving Xperience events? I was at the autocross last event and that was all my buddy was talking about.
This is now getting troublesome. Replaced the fuel pump and started the car. Before I changed the pump the Car would start and rev to 2000RPM. Now it starts and revs to 1500RPM. When revved, at 2500RPM it still makes a noise coming from the valve cover but thats the only time I hear it. I...
@99RedGs my bad, I should really be more specific when posting, nut I quickly type to get responses faster. My oil pressure is 32-42 psi when first started depending on the temp outside, after i come back from a drive it reads 16-22 psi. I also keep the A/C Off no clutch slippage, but today I...
Ok looking into anything else that could cause this. The more and more I cruise around town at 5 below speed limit, its starting to smoothen itself out. When putting in the spark plugs, i flashed a light into the cylinder holes and the pistons are dirty. carbon build up, seafoam is my next bet...
Ok, it looks like I might have to take it to an exhaust shop and have them weld it. Nobody I know has the right setup at all. But I will keep looking for someone to weld it, Ill pay them and give them lunch.
@Bentley05 The air filter is brand new, so is the spark plugs and wires. I swapped those out last week after I ran seafoam. Im running the NGKs at .52 gap The injectors are fine, the car starts up with no problems, doesnt try to stall or anything.@DSM1G90 I ran the vacuum test and the gauge...
Ok, after all the troubleshooting in the world. I found the reason to the loss of power. The aftermarket Ebay header and downpipe has a opening at the connection between the header and the downpipe.I thought it was a headgasket because when i sat and let the car idle I noticed bubbling...
Yeah, I tested the fuel pump today, that also checked out fine. But what I did find today is an unecessary amount of air coming from the connection point of this aftermarket ebay header/ downpipe. Guess what I'm going to try and do first is weld them together at the small little gap and see if...
Ok, I have the 420a 2.0 N/T. It's stock engine internal wise and I only have a CAI and complete exhaust system. I completed the compression test with all cylinders at factory specs. This motor has 120k miles. I'm impressed nothing has changed. No bent valves, and timing is spot on.Now I'm...
I went with option 1 during my project. So Far the gauges have been working for 4 months in the mocked position... I need to redo and wire somewhere else besides having the wires come between the door. I went with Prosport's oil pressure and vacuum gauge though I'm running non turbo.
Ok. So I completed the compression test with all cylinders at factory specs. This motor has 120k miles. I'm impressed nothing has changed. What I did notice that pointed towards a bad head gasket was my thermostat housing . The handmade gasket I made is starting to fail, causing a small leak...
Just checking if this actually causes vacuum and power issues. Just noticed it was leaking today, probably from the bad handmade gasket job. No leaks from anywhere else though.
Well, first... I should do a compression test, anyone have the equipment to do so? I've been sitting and going over symptoms, but I want to be sure its not something else causing the problem.
I can't remember where this goes, but to make it simple. My fuel gauge does not work anymore, replaced it, still a no go. Everything on the Fuel pump side checks out ok. The low fuel light works, I'm looking at a wiring issue. Does the wiring for the fuel gauge connect to the wiring that hooks...
thanks for the shop info. but if you can get in touch with the people that can replace the gasket for me that would be awesome. how much would they want?
My Head gasket is starting to blow. This started after the hail storm bombarded my car which is weird. I would do it myself like I did everything else on the car, but I dont have time at all or the tech shop since i'm graduating. Are there still any shops in the St. Louis area that works on...
I can't remember where this goes, but to make it simple. My fuel gauge does not work anymore, replaced it, still a no go. The low fuel light works, I'm looking at wiring. Does the wiring for the fuel gauge connect to the radio connector? Can anyone post a link to the wiring diagram? It's been a...
It gets pricey. No lie there, but the best place to start is to plan everything out that your budget can afford. You can also check out DSM Graveyard - Your #1 Source for DSM Parts! They build 420a performance motors and blocks, but they do not note the horsepower they put out, and range from 2k...
I was in my auto class finishing up my 420a N/T swap and the night class students started to fill in. One had the courage to walk over, and here is the conversation:Him: *looks in the engine bay "I'm, sorry."Me: Sorry about what?Him: I'm sorry your turbo blew the pistons through the...
Hey, I'm just coming off my 420a rebuild, everythings smooth over here, 2gnt.com specifies 47-50 psi stock.
2GNT.com - SpecificationsAlso, when talking about the break up, I would check your vacuum just to make sure, and how old are the wires, I had to replace mine during the rebuild
Ok I finally started my motor this week and wired a prosport gauge. At a cold start it reads 80psi and drops down while it warms up. Lowest today was 10psi, does that check out ok?
Thats some really good info, i was stumped at the alldata so just to make sure, I asked here. Im setting up the T fitting adapter so I have my aftermarket gauge as well and the OP switch, looking forward to getting some safe oil pressure readings considering how smooth everything has gone so far.
yeah the neon 420a is basically the same as the eclipse 420a, depending on the year though. II heard the 95 neon was SOHC, and the other neons heads are backwards, a lot of research could make an awesome sleeper though lol.I got the harmonic balance off, the problem was that the balancer...
