I have an oem 90' engine in my cat with the original ofh. I just deleted the lines with the stm kit. I haven't had any issues in 3+ years & 15k miles on an e316g
I know from experience the locking pin in the turbine isn't an absolute need. I lost the dowel for mine so I just get it close and tighten down the v band. Never had any issues for 3 seasons that way.
I always try to encourage people to stay close to stock and keep their set ups simple. They usually don't listen, fine by me.. I'd rather have a strong running 16g car than a 9 second car parted out on jack stands.
I'm not sure if this was the reverse threaded 14b or not, the compressor nut and threaded piece of the turbine shaft were the only things I didn't find. Your explanation does make sense though. Just an old turbo being pushed too hard I suppose.Did you experience any engine failures when your...
A little background on the car...Stock longblock
Stock drivetrain
Stock ecu/560cc injectors/2g maf
14b w/7cm hotside
4an turbo oil feed w/ stock return
Short route FMIC
PCV routed properly and functional
Always ran slightly rich but never any issues and pulled great @21-22psiI've ran this...
Did you read my post? All you need to do is pull 2 timing cover pull bolts by the ofh, pull the cover toward you and boom there's the bolt you need to loosen. I changed my ofh last year and it took about 5 minutes to remove.
So you solder the bare wire straight to the pin on the back side of the female plug? I figured there must be a better way or some sort of proper size connectors. I feel like such a newb for asking these questions but this is not my forte'.
When making the 1g to Evo patch harness what connectors are you guys using to attach the wires to the 1g female plug? How did you attach them? Sorry for the questions. I just have no clue where to get connectors that small.
It's up to you. I pretty much rip the egr out of my dsm's before I get them home. I run my vacuum lines just like this picture does. Your needs may be different but as long you cover the hoses in the diagram you are fine.
Don't just don't. Nothing good comes from 420a turbo builds. Just sell it and buy a real dsm, it's a much better platform, no need to reinvent the wheel.
Sounds like you got a great deal! Keep it up, running, and full of oil. Also I recommend a new timing belt as they wear with age and mileage so you never know how good it really is.
I have run Hallman and voodoo brand controllers. For the price just get a $20 voodoo controller off of eBay. Why would anyone need to manually control boost from the cockpit?
This is why I usually recommend people learn to tune their own cars. I have seen so many cars with "professional" tunes be waaaayyyyy off. As far as the timing belt thing goes I can't say. If you didn't specifically ask for new timing components then... Idk who's to blame :/
I made an injen intake and kn filter fit on my 1g. I have relocated the fuse box and have short route intercooler piping though. It all depends on your set up.
This^^^^^The car is unsafe, PERIOD. Just driving it is a risk to the driver and passenger. If you went in reverse fast enough and hit the brakes that engine would slide through the non existent firewall and into the drivers lap.Ruining a clean 1g like this should be a crime.
I used black duct tape (gorilla brand) to seal my fmic to the radiator. Work all the way around it and seal the ic and rad as close to air tight as you can. When almost dont uou can look in the gap and look for light seeping in and see where you to add more tape.. hope that all makes sense...
Ok thanks for the answer biglady. It looks like ill just drill the one holeArrowhead, In my last post I just said thet the studs can be removed via the top allens and wont be an issue. Thanks for trying asyer realizing that it was valid.
No biglady, that is not something ive had to do. Considering I can remove all the studs with an allen I not in the least bit worried about that issue.Maybe somone else can chime in with a mechanical/oiling reason to drill the other nine holes?
Arrowhead why dont you read MY post before quoting it. Both myself amd another member have been able to fit our 12mm studs exactly where bpgus said we COULDN'T. There is obviously something wrong there. My question involving WHY the others would need to be drilled if the stud fits was absolutely...
Bogus,
I am in the proccess of putting a 7 bolt head on my 6 bolt. My arps fit snug in all the bolt holes. Will I be ok just drilling out the one bolt hole? Or is there some other reason they all need to be 1/2"?
I have a 93 gsx and swapped to 90' Talon tail lights. Not a perfect fit but much better than the stupid blue stripe through the lights. I made a thread in here with pics. You can find it on my profile.
You should really reconsider the awd 5 speed swap. Cars with mileage like that have value because they are getting so hard to find. The auto will win races, a 5 speed will impress 16 year old kids.
First off that car is a greaat color, I wanted one like that but settled on a darker blue. For the IC yiu just need to do whatever it takes to move it up.Dont be afraid to remove the crashe beam or anything else. Its a 20 year old car its past that lol
I would NEVER reccomend a t25 or t28.Look into a tdo5h based turbo (14b/16g/20g). They will require some modification to fit (aassuming you have a stock 2g) but will be well worth. STM makes a kit to dp the swap and im sure there is an ebay equivalent that works just fine.People have...
