I added bracing to the tabs front and rear for more surface area to weld. I'm going to tack it in place then have it tig welded later(chomoly subframe). To determine the roll I used the tcase with the drive shaft going thru the drive shaft hoop
This weekend what a pain. Tryed mig weld aluminum with a spool . Not that comfortable welding my parts so im going to sub that (aluminum)stuff out.A couple months ago I got the laptop to communicate with cnc bed. Today drawing up a simple bracket in light burn, to connect the rear roll stop...
Between e85 and a electric water pump, that should keep Temps in check for me. With the angle of the rad being roughly were it is will help with venting with the hood I'm using.
To be honest it's just siting in thier , I still have finnal fitment with the fmic. But I have to get the roll stops finalized (1g trans) , fog light mounts done then I can cut out the lower coresupport.
I cant rember if its a Sirocco or golf style . Bought it years ago. But I can get the dimensions. One of the reasons I'm using is because the core is the same width as 1g fmic core.
The three tubes going right to left will all be connected. The bumper tube and upper mount tube . The black tube( front roll stop - coolant tube) needs work. Bungs on either ends once finalized, a bung for the turbo and a bung for the waste gate and a mounting solution, which I have some ideas.
After a late night I got the old laptop to finnally communicate with the laser bed. I have some parts to make, like a mount for the plasma torch to replace the laser mount. Some wiring and learn the ways of the program Light Burn. Once this done I can make some brackets for the car with ease and...
Keep the rods. Stroker pistons ,88mm crank in a 4g63 . Which will be a aluminum long rod , which is also good for high rpm. Go a bit further and knife edge the crank. And will free up even more rpm.
Electric water pump (Davis Craig 150) has showed up and Jon at TRE has taken the funds on the tcase build, I guess they finnaly got the order for the 300m tail shafts. It's gonna be a busy winter in the garage. Also received a shop tool CNC plasma cutter I get to play with.
Did a little bit of mock up this afternoon. This has been in my head for a long time. Did a mock up motor with the 1g Trans. Using after market 1g stuff and so far it looks promising.
Don't forget. Drive shaft, subframes, cranks, rods, control arms, flywheel, ac heat delete, glass, extra extra. Alot has changed since 04. If going auto add wieght lol.
Drilled out the 2g transmission base plate to accommodate the 1g transmision. The roll stops on the 1g are on the motor so boosted fab rear roll stop is being used ,then to fab up mount tabs on front tube sub frame. The front roll stop will be custom along with a lower core support. Also the...
Well it looks like Awd is back on the table. I found a trans, tcase, and rear diff. The trans is built and done for the time being. Some might cringe at the fact it's a 1g and it's a spool in its center diff and it's going in my 2g. The trans was a free core so im not going to complain. Load out...
I thought I would pass this on. Since tool storage can be at a premium, especially on smaller boxes. I didn't like the trays that come with extensions and came up with a easy cheap solution, easy to grab, and organized. Amazon magnet kits can be had for cheap then a small dab of hot glue keeps...
Sorry front lsd. Some of the stuff that was lost in the fire was evo stuff like a evo ralliart clutch type front diff. Some people use awd transmissions since you have more gear options and it's stronger than a fwd trans. U can weld the center diff or go spool.
Yes. I've been exploring diffrent driveline alternatives for the car because I probably won't get back what I've got vested before the fire. So im using the most that I have parts wise and and going mid engine rwd. Trans is a 1g awd that will be converted to PPG with a spool center diff ...
Peterson oil pressure regulator , Fty remote filter relocation mount, improved racing remote filter with thermostat and a air cooler with temp sensor and fan.
This is the end of the awd build. I bought a 04 mustang gt, blown motor, no trans or drive shaft. I will be infusing some structural componets from said mustang to help out with conversion to RWD. Like floor, firewall and tid bits. So for 250 bucks I cant complain.
With the destruction of certian drive line parts this build thread will end and a new one will begin. I will be posting up on Facebook and tuners certain parts that will be for sale. Time for plan uh C? Going RWD. ;)
