I'm finally done uploading mine as of Monday 10/13 around 6:30pm...They are here:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/15059459@N02/...I got a lot of starting line pics, so if you ran there's a decent chance I got one of your car!
I haven't run into the power steering thing either. It happens when your RPM's are high, which they usually aren't while turning... If you find you have the PS cut out on you, try shifting up a gear in that section.
I just got back on the board again recently and was wondering what happened to Defiant. He had a humorous way of smacking down the L33T 5p33k'ers and I, for one, miss him. He deserves a vacation to some tropical locale, but I selfishly hope that's not where he is -some relaxation may tame him...
This GIRL daily drives a 2600 (when the car works). I really have no idea what you all are whining about. It's not that big of a deal unless you're in stop-and-go for a half hour/hour -then I start wishing for a lighter clutch or maybe even an auto... :shhh:
The rules change year-to-year, so make sure you're looking at current information. If you plan to run with SCCA, here's a link to their rules page: http://www.scca.org/Solo/Index.asp?IdS=0185A2-FE47500&x=050|070&~=If you're running with another (local) club, some have no "classes" and run...
1. Spray the nut and the inside of the wrench with WD-40.
2. Put sand on the oiled surfaces (the nut and the inside of the wrench)
3. Slide the wrench onto the nut until it seats. When you turn it, the sand will fill in the missing corners, and the nut should break for you.
It shouldn't loose your data. I Googled for "palm m100 data battery low" and the first result was:Avoid losing data when changing or charging your handheld's battery: http://kb.palmone.com/SRVS/CGI-BIN/WEBCGI.EXE/,/?St=41,E=0000000000124190776,K=6293,Sxi=14,useTemplate=Case.tem,CASE=2731
Any AWD DSM has a center LSD, but it's effectiveness is minimal, so some go for aftermarkedt LSD's like Quaife's or Kaaz.As for the rear, you have to check -some have them, some don't. If the rear does have LSD, there should be a red sticker saying so on the driver's side door jam, right...
The deal is this: It's extremely unlikely that your car will blow up if you leave it running while you refuel, however, due to the fact that multiple cases a year occur where concentrated gas vapors explode because of sources of ignition in the engine bay when your engine is running, it's...
"The Petroleum Equipment Institute did study the issue and released a report that noted: "Americans pump gasoline into their cars between 16 and 18 billion times a year generally without incident," but fires related to refueling at gas stations seem to be on the rise, and many of these fires are...
White smoke generally means a head gasket, but with all the other problems, you may want to keep in mind that the engine (at least the head) may be a writeoff at this point. If that's all that's wrong with it, and the rest (body, etc) is in good shape, it may be worth the effort to get a used...
If you're still on the stock crank pully, see if the rubber on it has seperated. They do that, and often cause damage to other belts (and anything else in the vicinity).9 times outta 10 that seems to be the problem...
Yes! If you don't know if/when it's been changed -do a timing belt change! Change the other belts too, and replace all fluids. If you don't know when these things were done, you have to assume that they weren't. And check out http://www.vfaq.com for all your instruction needs.Have fun...
The deal with filling tires with Nitrogen is mostly that there's no moisture in the "dry nitrogen" that's used. As tires heat up, the moisture in them expands and causes a slight pressure increase in the tire. Would most of us ever notice? No. Unless you're a pro (or you can get the dry...
It appears that SCCA rules are pretty lax about harnesses: http://tinyurl.com/8wuzqHere's a diagram that gives the recommended angles for the harness belts: http://www.ompusa.com/images/harnes3.jpgThat's all that Google and I could find so far...
It messes with the flow of air and will mean that your ECU receives wrong info about how much air is coming into the engine. The result, it'll run like poo unless you have something to tune around it with, like an AFC or DSMlink or something. Your profile says you have neither, so don't hack...
Installing a tranny isn't hard, but it is cumbersome -hopefully you'll have a friend to help you. The right tools also help -a jack with as broad a base as possible, for instance, to lift the tranny into place. From there it's just trying to get the freaking dowels lined up with the holes when...
I just went into NAPA with the O-ring, told them I needed four more like it (may as well replace them all while you're at it, right?) and they just pulled out their stash and matched the size up. Been running on them for a year or so and just had them off yesterday -they're holding up just fine.
I was doing about 25mph when mine locked up. It was about 6000 miles after I had my tranny rebuilt, so I was definitely scared about that. I've taken the tranny apart since and found absolutely no signs of damage (to my untrained eye, but still -all gears looked perfect). Everything else...
Okay, so I got home and checked the AFC settings, and they had been reset when the battery was taken out of the car. I put it back to Karman and now the MAF reading is fine and so's my car! Whee! :D
My experience was similar, but the dealership I went to wouldn't even tow it back their place to look at it -I had to call AAA to tow it back (it locked up again about 1 mile away from the dealership while I was driving it home!). Good luck, man....and the VC is in the transmission, not the...
The "Modifiers" line has Eclipses, although if you look under the hood, the engine's turned like an NT...They're still kinda cool though: http://www.daydeal.com/product.php?productid=4454
From here: http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/showthread.php?t=193701&highlight=MAS+signalIt looks like maybe resetting the ECU might help (doubt it, it was sitting for 2 months with no battery before this, so it was basically reset already, but I'll try anything at this point)...Or...
I'm trying to get my car ready for the shootout (leaving Friday morning!) -nothing went wrong with the timing belt change or the new head install, but I'm stuck on this stupid MAF problem...I've been running with a 2g MAF in my 1g for over a year without any issues, then I take the car down...
First of all, no one pays sticker price at a dealer, so using that as a point of reference just won't work. Second, dealers usually get more for used cars than private sellers would.Perhaps you could wade through here to see what others have paid...
You might want to try looking at DSM Talk's Non-Turbo tech forum for some info on what others are doing with their NT's: http://www.dsmtalk.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=24
After getting my Laser back after the transfer case locked up on me, I got no more than a mile away from the dealership and it locked up again. I had to pay to tow it back, and a day later they called me to tell me that "their transmission guy said it was the transmission, not the transfer case...
I'm pretty sure they are different. Just to be sure, I looked on several different sites selling exhaust for dsm's and found different part numbers for 1g fwd and 2g fwd on all of them.
Do you have supporting mods like bigger cams? There's no info in your vehicle profile...Some people say you can loose power (or at least not gain any) with oversized valves. I'm currently getting a head built, and decided NOT to go w/ oversized valves. Here's one of the threads that made...
Get the highest octane unleaded fuel you can buy. The 93 octane you see at the pump IS unleaded. Usually you can only find leaded fuel at the race track. You CAN run leaded fuel, but it's bad for your O2 sensor. I run it once or twice a year and have never had a problem. Lead-resistant O2...
If you use an MLS gasket (recommended) you have to get the head re-surfaced to spec or it'll leak on you: http://www.babcox.com/editorial/ar/eb30320.htmBelieve me, I'm in the same boat. I have a *suspision* that my head gasket is leaking a *tiny* bit. -To check it, I have to pull the head...
Check this link out. The "1000 Already Answered Questions" website is a great way to find out about common questions and terminology for dsm's:http://members.shaw.ca/costall/1000Q/answers-terms.htm#Whatsa7boltengine
I was maxing out (107% duty cycle) my stock injectors on my 14b @ 17psi. I got an AFC, a socketed EPROM ECU, and 750cc injectors. They run great, and I shouldn't need to replace them again anytime soon. ;)
I was interested in the Hotbits kit, but I can't seem to find anyone who's got them to hear how they are. In fact, I can't even find a price for them! I've been through the 3 dealers (who have websites) here: http://www.motorsport-dist.com/dealers.htm and none of them have a price listed for...
Like I said, I'm looking at purchasing the shocks within the next month, so I don't know if you'll have them soon enough... (?)So, let's say I buy a set of Koni's elsewhere and send them to you for dyno'ing. I get the results... then what? If they're all off (or any of them are off)...
What you said about drivability makes sense, and I guess that "Example of "Matching" Shocks" here: http://www.accuratetechnologies.com/performance/Default.aspx?tabid=139
proves what you said about the same settings not being equal on two "matching" shocks, but I don't see any 1G shocks for sale...
