This section of the mani is welded from the underside... So I guess it wouldn't be hard to get it welded once its off.
But I've never been a fan of this mani. It annoyed me that it's 6cm and can be ported to 7cm because there isn't enough room or material to port it 1cm. Or was it 7 & 8cm? I...
Wasn't quite sure where to put this. I ran some Seafoam thru the GSX the other day. Had quite a bit of smoke from the Seafoam boiling up from the collector section of the DNP exhaust manifold. I would guess that would be a pretty decent indication of an exhaust mani leak... The streams of smoke...
Of all the weird things; the boost control solenoid for the BLITZ electronic boost controller was in itself a big boost leak. I took off the BLITZ for right now and am running straight wastegate with not boost controller. I'll have to buy one. It's looper from the nipple on the turbo to the...
ok it's running and driving. It's stumbling like a boost leak. I'll have to make a boost leak checker. Weird thing is the stock boost gauge seems to be reading boost instead of points of knock like it should be setup for from Keydriver. I have a 95 eprom ECU with burned Keydriver chip.
The one I got 3 years ago is A smooshed 3". Meaning it has indents on each side into the diameter of the 3" pipe where the flange is slotted to fit up to different O2 sensor housings.
Honestly... You're already going to be in there. Instead of spending money on machining spring for an ACT cro moly flywheel. Great product and can be used with any of the replacement clutches like Southbend etc. It really livens up the motor.
I run an ACT 2600 pressure plate with ACT unsprung 4...
I... I... I can't read anymore of this nonsense. I'm sorry. I shouldn't have poked my nose into an appearance post. I'm going to delete my subscription to this post.
I'd like it a lot more if it was functional. In looking at the first pictures I can't see how you'd actually be able to turn the front wheels without buckling a fender.
I'm sorry InfiniteGSX you should keep the original wheels back on. They look much better.
Also I ran that exact same suspension setup. It's terrible. The Toikikos are barely better than stock. The springs were... Disappointing at best. But still my Talon on that setup with front and rear strut...
I always think about it JTMCinder. I always try to look at modified vehicles in a holistic view.
Personally I like efficiency. I want to maximize the amount of tire width on a given set of rims while still fitting correctly. The wider the rim is the more it weighs given similar materials etc...
It's a nice driveway ornament... Because it can't move. None of these things make any sense to me; 35r yadda yadda yadda. Does your blow off valve sound nice in your driveway? I'm not getting the point.
The recent greens were very blah. The reds were better. The Carbontech are better than both. I'm sorry I don't remember which carbontechs I put on.EBCs wear out very fast. No brake dust. Honestly I don't care about dust. I want brake pads that perform better
Er... Pied you're getting what I'm saying wrong. I can't say much good about the Greens anymore but I thought the reds were good. The worked like I would expect them to.
I have had two sets of them on my Talon. I liked the set I got 10 years ago or so. Just Greens although they wore out incredibly fast. Was not impressed with the set I got a few years back. That time I ran a set of greens and a set of Reds and blah.
I am running a set of Carbotech pads now and...
I think it would be a dick move to copy it. If someone were to blatantly copy it and start selling body kits I would think Andrew would have good justification for a lawsuit. In an ideal world I would love to fab up a body kit for my GSX but at the same time it would look nothing like Andrew's...
Stock radiator holds a gallon of fluid. My Fluidyne rad holds 2 gallons. Additional volume helps.
So your car is overheating on a regular basis and you're wondering about different radiator and different mixes of antifreeze and water? Sounds like you may have a more serious problem possibly...
Normally I don't get roped into these things but your comment questioning his skills has irked me. Kevin is part of an elite group that has pushed the DSM platform considerably. His work has been very beneficial to the DSM community as a whole.
Co worker told me he could weld a aluminum can. I told him he was full of Chit because mostly he was full of chit. He brought in a can. But what he had done was cut it in two right around the middle then weld it back together. It was impressive but there was still some doubt if he actually did...
Obvious problem with improperly stepped flywheel but wow the rest of that clutch and pressure plate looks just amazing! Deglaze it and use it again! Unless of course being stepped incorrectly has damaged the wear surface. Thing looks brand new!
Tim is the expert on these. If he says deglaze and...
ah man... I have to disagree with you there about ic piping being ic piping. I have Hahn racecraft steel powdercoated ic pipes. Very solid. My buddy has ebay kit with aluminum pipes and crushed an end of an ic pipe tightening a clamp down on it. Thinwall aluminum tubing...
For ease of reinstallation I outline the shape of the hinge on the shell. I use fine tip Sharpees. I do it with hatches, hoods and doors. Especially if working solo. Plus if you want you can wipe the Sharpee mark off. I've done plenty of doors solo with a Sharpee and floor jack. It's always...
Launching on a broken tranny?! There's no part of this that shows good judgement. So how many launches until you have no forward gears? Park it and fix it. The more you break; the more expensive the fix will be.
7 bolt vs a 7 bolt? There might be some argument that a 97-99 7 bolt would be less prone to crank walk. But there would be no difference between a 97 GST block and a 98 GSX.
I don't do much for car audio anymore but... I don't use the stock dash tweeter location at all. It's an odd location. I wired mine straight from the deck to the door speakers. As I was not using an amp I did not use bass blockers. 6X9s in the rear. I used 6 & 1/2 " front speakers. Ideally I...
Thanks Cinder. Actually I have his name and phone number now. Of course I know the town we picked it up in. He's never picked up or returned my call. I'm skipping it altogether. Doing the lost abandoned vehicle route. I could send the guy above mt VIN number but I'm afraid it'll turn up that a...
Toe in or out unless excessive is hard to see. You'd have to have horrible amounts of camber to wear off the insides of your tires. You would be able to see that just by looking at the car. I had a similar problem. Thought it was camber. Turned out to be toe. Toe will wear tires fast.
I am sorry I just don't see the point of redoing the balance shafts. Just eliminate them. Especially on a modified DSM. To me the feel like a liability. Also makes replacing a timing belt much easier.
