Check the timing, drain the gas tank and put new gas (if it was sitting for awhile). Check tune on the SAFC. and the light problem is mostlikely a fuse, but if not pull the cluster out and check the cables in the back.

If its making a grinding noise in nuetral its most likely your TOB. If it went bad make sure you replace it with one that is OEM. Check that first, then get back to us.

Do you have any pics? I had the same problem on my 2g. The right side was rotted around the right edge of the strut tower. I know a very good welder and he cut all the bad metal out and replaced it with thick metal from a tool box. welded it in, seam sealer, bondo, paint. good as new!
