http://www.dsmtuners.com/threads/95-talon-tsi-awd-built-motor-evo-16g-turbo-bbs-wheels.490545/Hey guys just wanted to let you know I'm selling my Talon. I'm over near the quad cities area, about 3 hours from Chicago. Willing to drive to meet or whatever, just contact me if interested. Info is...
some have gps capability so that if you frequently visit the same area (like on your commute to work) and keep getting false signals in the same spot (maybe from automatic opening doors or motion sensors etc.) you can make it so the alarm doesnt go off for those things and it will remember it...
Good to go, I have 600 miles on it now and everything seems to be ok. This Competition Clutch Stage 2 kit is kind of noisy but its shifting like butter and holding power so far (i've only shifted at 4k rpm a few times). Seems to make some chatter noises on decel, i hope that's normal but other...
I've done that before using 4 jackstands. just make sure noone is standing close to or in front of the car while you're doing it. give the car a little push and pull to make sure it's stable before you start. dont make any sudden jerks or movements. I guess some people will tell you that's a bad...
tKr did you figure out what it was? If it's brake related you should try to get it fixed as soon as possible, don't want it to cause a bigger problem. If it's the wheel bearing it'll most likely make a humm sound, and it'll get louder when you transfer weight to the side that's bad.Alberto...
Thanks. I've been blessed to be able to work at shops where I have one big job that is the "default" thing to do (it’ll last a few months or even a year), and when other small jobs come in I jump on that for a day or two and do some fabrication, then go back to the production stuff. And the...
Dont know why my photobucket pics are always lower resolution after i upload them from my phone.Hre's some 24 gauge stainless drip trays i made at work, theyre for ice cream machines like the ones at Dairy Queen and other fast food places.I made 600 of these 1 3/4" long welds (150 pans x 4...
I have a '95 TSi AWD and the "AWD" emblem fell off one winter when I bumped into a guard rail.Does anyone know where I could find that same emblem? Is there an oem part number for it that I could order?
Here's a rough list of what my friend's eclipse had on it before he sold it. It ran mid 11's on street tires and was estimated around 540awhp. The powerband was from 4000rpm to 8000rpm and it pulled very hard. Never ran into anybody faster on the street, even some high horsepower vettes and...
If you really want to go all out you could get a front mount intercooler with hard pipes, a 3" gm maf right before the throttle body, a maf translator, some kind of tuning device and then dont recirculate the bov. Keep an eye out in the classifieds and you can probably find all that stuff for a...
Justin has a ton of experience rebuilding turbos so if you decide you'd rather pay someone to fix it up, he's the guy to go to.What kind of experience do you have working on cars? What other cars have you owned before the DSM? What plans do you have for it? Are you into drag racing, autox, or...
Keep an eye on that ebay 16g turbo (check for shaft play often), the bearings could go bad in it and wipe out your motor. JusMX141 (Justin) has some good info on how to keep it going for a while in this thread, post #9: http://www.dsmtuners.com/threads/e-bay-16g-wastegate.270000/#post-151273890
Like what kind of crucial place? If it's the exhaust manifold it shouldn't be that difficult to fix.How did the studs break off, did they break while removing them, or were they overtightened? Is it because of rust? You might have to have a machine shop do it. It shouldn't take a...
Do you mean maybe something similar to these with heim joints?: http://www.dsmtuners.com/threads/2g-tubular-and-spherical-rear-toe-arms.482242/Another option might be that "wipe new" stuff I've seen at the parts stores lately. Might need to do some research to see if it really works though. I...
Does my clutch fork look ok? I bought it new last year and it has about 20k miles on it
Is it supposed to have this much play in it while it's attached to the pivot ball?
It stays attached to the pivot ball and it's actually a little tough to pull it off.
Is it supposed to move around so much on...
Anybody know for sure how deep to install that seal? I'm about to install the transmission into the car and I won't have as much room to mess with it afterwards.I have the seal in the transmission up to #2 in the pic above, should I leave it like that or push it in more until #1 is flush with...
I know this thread is old but the information needs to be corrected.I don't think it's a good idea to omit that dowel pin, regardless of whether or not the car came with it. If there are holes that allow for installation of a dowel pin then it needs to be used.See this thread for more info...
Thanks, I was able to get it out easily with a prybar. I was wrong about there being rtv on it, it was just gunk/road grime built up around the seal. I had to use a file and 400grit sandpaper to fix the surface that the seal sits on.Does anyone know 100% for sure how deep this passenger side...
The first pic is the seal that is in my transmission right now (passenger side, 2g awd manual tranny).
It has been in there since I bought the car and I want to put a new OEM one in while I'm swapping out my clutch. Is that just some off brand, non-oem seal that's in there, or is that how it's...
Thanks for the input Morphius. Sounds like this is a combination of things, mostly just error on my part combined with a worn out hydraulic system.I don't always have all the tools needed to do this job the professional way, such as using an engine hoist to lift the transmission perfectly in...
Good to know. I forgot to mention that my slave cylinder was leaking really bad (had to refill 1/4 of the reservoir every 5 days) so it definitely wasnt doing its job. Im hoping thats what caused the grooves on the pressure plate fingers.
Oh wow. Thanks for the input Tim.The motor was built with forged internals by a reputable shop 50k miles ago and has been running great, I don't understand why I'd have a bent crank or excessive thrust play. The transmission was also rebuilt by Jacks Transmissions 50k miles ago so I don't...
Well it's been 1 year and 2 months, and I just pulled my transmission again because the fidanza 3.2 clutch was slipping any time i go over 3500rpm.I pulled the flywheel off and there was a tablespoon of oil sitting on the lip inside the crank, I'm assuming rear main seal failure is the...
You could always plasti dip it with the Blaze blue color they have and see how you like it for like $300, that way if you don't like it you can just peel it off. I know it's not the exact same thing, and it wouldn't be glossy, but it would give you an idea:
I'm tellin ya, this is where it's at!: spherical rear toe arms.
That's what i got when my rear toe arm bushings and balljoints were shot :rocks::hellyeah:
Like i said im using the bolts from the link to extremepsi so im sure theyre oem. Theyre 12mm-headed bolts and theyre the correct thread pitch and length. I tried using a 1/4" drive socket, a regular 3/8" drive socket, and a deep 3/8" drive socket. At most theres only about 1/16" between the...
thanks for doing that.http://www.extremepsi.com/store/product.php?productid=23817&cat=864&page=2
^^That's where i got my bolts, they look about the same as yours, just silver instead of that gold color.I'm pretty sure the crank sprocket is all the way tight, i torqued it to spec about 4 or 5...
What brand of sockets do you use?Like i said i tried three different sockets, 2 craftsman and one walmart special. None of them would fit over the head without bumping into that washer...I guess I just have to find the right thin-walled socket. If I had an impact I'd take out the big bolt in...
I feel like this is a dumb question but i have to ask, has anyone else had trouble tightening the 4 crank pulley bolts? One of mine vibrated out so i decided to pull them all and replace them with some socket cap screws (its all i could find at the hardware stores that was the right diameter...
Oh yeah I see now, I was afraid to take it apart until I kinda knew what was going on. I was missing an o-ring that sits in a groove under that nut and the other o-rings were on that shaft inside the banjo line thing where they're supposed to be.
Should there be an o-ring underneath the nut where the top arrow is pointing?
I've got a leak coming from there that's been that way since I bought the car. There was a lock washer under the nut but i removed it to see if I could put some thread sealant on there to stop the leak but I realize...
Some more junk from work. Gets repetitive sometimes, but at least it only lasts a couple days and then I'm doing something new. It helps that they let me wear headphones :rocks:These are some kind of slotted lids that get bolted onto a metal box, I think money gets put into the slot. Either...
Has anybody ever had this happen to them while stick welding?I was practicing with 7018 rod on 1/4'' steel. I got to the end of the weld, flipped up my hood, and the slag was automatically peeling off the weld. The temperature of the base metal, my travel speed, angle, and arc length were...
Plastidip ftw. Did my whole roof in it and it has held up great. Use Mr. Clean magic erasers and dish soap/water to clean it. Avoid getting wax on it or itll get a white film on it
Some stuff I made at work. They're parts for a chain of grocery stores , they hold up the keyboards that the cashiers use. Take a look around next time you're shopping and you might see one of the 600 that I've made.
Sorry i'll have to ask him next time i see him, cant quite remember. I do know it didnt even have adjustable cam gears and he somehow managed to get away with just a rewired walbro 255 pump, braided line, afpr, and 1600cc injectors on e85. Dsmlink and 3" gm maf for tuning.
My friends gsx had a 2.4 stroker motor (g4cs block), borg warner s258 (i think thats what it was), and 280 cams making about 550awhp, ran 11.4 1/4mile with 1.7 60 ft on street tires. The powerband was 4k to 8k rpms and man it was awesome. Seemed like there was nothing faster than it on the road...
What does the manifold differential pressure sensor even do? what do guys that install aftermarket intake manifolds do about it? Can you really just do without it? Will your gas mileage be the same and everything? Will your car run rich or lean or anything weird?I got the p1400 code the other...
will he need something other than a 1g bov to max out the 16g?OP you might be interested in these "how to" guides:

Can someone please tell me what kind of seal this is that i have laying around? Hoping its a oil pump shaft seal but im not sure. Its black and the rubber has this faded white stuff on it. It has a tiny spring on the inside. Thanks for the help
Just get a VRSpeedFactory one, much better quality and fit, super cheap, comes with everything you need. If you have a 14b or 16g turbo you'll need a j-pipe, if not, make sure you get piping to hook it up to your stock t25.
