I am selling a good used 6 bolt cylinder head that has been CNC ported by Fox Lake. This is the same CNC program that Shep developed with Fox Lake for his drag car. The intake and exhaust have extensive port work done to them. Ferrea valves on the intake and exhaust side. Kiggly springs and...
Aaron Gregory went 8.4 on a forced inductions borg...... Also John Keesey the winner of some huge x275 races (more competitive than any import race arguably) has a FI turbo. I think Jake Montgomery also runs a FI 80 and just went into the 7s with it. I have one and am switching to a PTE to...
I have found that if you support the xfer case with a floor jack right in its center then wiggle the tail and front of the case back and forth it will come off without the shaft coming with it. Don't jack up with a lot of force, just enough to take the transfer case's weight off of the output...
Have you been seeing failures on MAP's launch control device specifically? What parts are different / inferior in the MAP one compared to the Magnus one?I have had very good luck with the vibrant clamps for some time now at 40+ psi. I have had to replace a few of the orings on the pipes...
Check to see if the trans fluid filter has been broken or is not sealing correctly. This will cause the pump to potentially suck in air and cause what you are experiencing. Also What filter did you use? OEM should be the only one going on there. It sounds like a line pressure issue. Double...
I would get a fluidamper if I had to do it over again, and I have an ATI. The ati comes with its own crank sproket and its damper that bolt together. They didn't fit well and required honing to work. The damper also comes off poorly. The outer ring splits from the dampening bands, though...
I ran a 4" aluminum exhaust to the back of the car a year ago. It was nice because of the low volume levels compared to now, but it sucked to drive on the street with. There just wasn't enough clearence under my car even with a 26" tire and I would bottom out over railroad tracks etc. I now...
FWIW, I the day I bought my car from the previous owner it made 565hp on 32 psi at MAPerformance on a BEP .55 hx 40 with a FP cast manifold on a stock long block besides some hks 272s. These are dynojet numbers and I think their dyno is pretty generous in the first place, but it still shows...
Just in case you didn't already, it would be wise to go over the area that you ground down with a wide/stitch weld. I did the same thing you did to my rear arms, and you can see the air gap in between the upper and lower portions of the control arm if you do not. The weld will still clear the...
Are you retarding the timing as soon as you put the brake on? I understand why this would be helpful holding the car once it's on its two step, but does it make it more difficult to get up to your two step with that timing retarded the whole way? I have heard two schools of thought on this as...
I ran a QM twin disk gear drive from TMZ when I was a 5 speed. That clutch was easier than my sprung 6 puck to drive around on the street. With the amount of surface area on the disks, you don't have to have an incredibly high pedal pressure for an effective clamp on the disks. I could drive...
I use the one touch pneumatic fittings for everything under my engine bay that I can. It works really nicely and the hose is much cheaper than AN braided stuff. They even make metal ones that I attached onto my wastegates so I don't have to continually drop the reference line inner banjo...
That is what I really needed to know. I picked up a 3" OD section and it seems like it is right on as far as piping to bushing fit. I am going to try to get the rusted outer ring out of the subframe tomorrow. They are just too far gone for me to put confidence in with how thin they are in...
I am curious if the 3 inch will actually be a tight enough fit in the subframe and the aluminum bushing at the same time. Could you please take a measurement with a caliper of the bore of the hole the bushing goes in with the outer bushing ring knocked out of it (if you are removing the whole...
Could you link to a source on the 3 inch exhaust bit? It would have to be within a few thousandths of new OEM for it to work correctly on both the outer and inner diameters. It would be awesome if they are the same but seems a bit too convenient for these cars.3kgt2nv- Thank you for...
Sounds good. Its not necessarily the cosmetic rust or the rust that is protruding that is an issue, it is the rust that has taken away from the thickness of the metal in my case that will cause the bushing to not be held tightly. A sandblaster may help getting the bushing out by removing the...
I am looking for a source for the stock type rear subframe bushings. Not the mustache bar bushings, but the big ones that tuners nation and boostedx sold poly replacements for. The issue that I am having is that my outer ring of my stock bushing is badly rusted, and this ring must be present...
Subscribed as well. It should be noted though, that some VGT turbo's that are on today's diesels can be ran on gas engines without killing them. The whole EGT argument about the housings flaking and the vanes melting is based on people on the internet speculating and regurgitating information...
I street drove a QM twin disk for a year and it was just fine. Just sounds like a train crossing when you are on decel at highway speeds. Very comfortable pedal feel, and they can probably hold more power longer than your 5 speed can.
I would go with the 1000cc set. Like the above stated, its never a bad idea to have room to grow. I remember when the biggest I would go was a hx40... you get the mod bug again sooner or later!
My car does not idle well whenever the engine is below operating temp, regardless of ambient temps. There is a detailed write up on how to properly set idle with the coolant lines on one of the dsm forums, I can't seem to find it right now though unfortunately.
The handling on my 1g is pretty terrible. You probably won't see any at dealerships, but try to talk to the salesperson at the used car dealers to see if they ever see any come through at the used car auctions they pick up inventory from. Good luck with your purchase!
I use a q45 and experience a similar issue when cold. Try to up the idle a bit on the throttle body. Also if you can, check the simulate idle switch on link. This might help the driveability a bit.
I saw one that had banjo fittings on the top side of the valve cover, it may have been Tim Z that posted it. I am not sure how much the fitting its self would restrict the flow of air though.
When I ran an hx40, I had a similar intake pipe to landspeed's, but cut a hole in right behind the passengers side headlight in the engine bay. This allowed me to place the air filter in the wheel well on the passenger side and worked nicely. I had a K&N filter on it. This is what the pipe...
I see someone doesn't have a newbie status any more lol. What do you think of the wire quality on the painless kit? I used a different brand for my old car and never got to see the quality of that brand kit in person. Any estimate on the weight of the door with lexan in it and gutted?
Mine has done the same clicking thing as well by the sounds of it, it was one of the solenoids pulsing on the valvebody. I started it up and it functioned fine.
I wouldn't play the odds with oil pressure issues. Do you have access to a pressure gauge ( a nice analog one maybe) to put in the oil pressure sender tap? One of the parts stores may have a rental gauge kit. Try to verify that the oil pressure is there before driving the car around. Did you...
To be fair your plugs could look all ok and one or more of them could be fouled. E85 can be very tricky when trying to look at a plug and judge the engine's current performance from it.Source cited - Shane @ DB performance
FWIW the setup that was on my car before I switched to a BW turbo was a Holset hx40 and it made 460 one year on 32ish psi on a dyno dynamics, and 556 the day it was sold to me on MAP's dynojet at 37psi. This was on a stock block with HKS 272's and other boltons. They can make 450awhp!
Do you have the "automatic air" ? Either way it sounds like the ac compressor could be shorted to power. Unplug the AC compressor clutch relay. Does the compressor clutch still engauge? There are a few options for power to get to the compressor coil which will cause it to draw the compressor...
I would. Sure it looks cool to you, but think of all that new machine work getting destroyed because someone kicks up a Busch light can off the road and it takes a bounce into your t-belt.
What he said. I would go with a less aggressive cam setup with the hx40. Using those cams would be like putting a 42r on it and hoping to hit 400 crank hp :D
I like the hx40 idea though. I didn't have the pro version, rather the restrictive BEP bolt on hx40, and it was a really fun car to...
Be sure to clean out the bolt holes with brake clean before installing bolts. If there is any paint from the converter being painted in the bolt holes it needs to be removed from the threads. Use red loctite and torque to at minimum 50 ft. lbs. Re-torque after the first heat cycle. The arp...
I say go with at least the hx-35 or the hx-40 if you think you may want more power down the road. I had the latter on a 2.0 and that was a nice power curve, yours would be even fatter.
