I have heard a lot of good things about southbend clutches. Everyone Ijust knkw thatright has ranthe one lovedto it. I am currently running a Clutch masters FX300 in my 90 talon with a lightweight flywheel....love it! Also have had 2a ACT 2600's not the biggest fan. If that helps
When it happens check for spark out of the coil pack for that cylinder. I bet it has something to do with heat. I have seen simillar problems to this before.
The ISC/IAC will go through its cycle and relearn pretty quick. In that situation I would let the car idle for a few minutes after it comes ip to opperating temperature so it can relearn IAC position and start to redevelope fuel trims. If it were me I would make sure you have no boost leaks...
If your TPS is mis-adjusted it can cause stalling insues; your IAC should keep it from stalling if it is adjusted properly and working correctly. A boost leak check is going to be of most importance to ensure that isnt your problem amd you must have all your boost leaks fixed before you can...
Here great timing belt write up:
Timing Belt VFAQIf the timing belt skipped on any of the gears you have a problem, when you get a chance pull the lover and upper timing covers. Try to align all the mark(they will all line up on the compression stroke of the #1 cylinder) if they dont line up...
In order to check timing you are going to have to pull the cover, you need to ensure ALL the timining marks line up. Although you may have boost leaks, they arn't going to keep the motor from starting. Check for fuel, then spark. Let us know what you have/ dont have. Also post your compression...
I can unfortunately say I am having the same problem. I just bought a 1992 galant vr-4 and I have now killed 2 alternators in the last week! I think it is time to check grounds sicne DSM's are known for having grouning issues. Alternator fuse is good, since the new alternator and the old one...
The balance shaft belt failing is a common reason for the timing belt to skip. If you do a compression check it will tell you a lot more. If your timing skipped you valves will be opening at the wrong time, thus compression testing will show low to no compression on those cylinders. Could also...
Could easily be a boost leak, but sounds more like a WG problem. I had an isue with mine and couldnt build any boost. To check to ensure it is closing all the way you can pull the o2 housing and look to make sure the WG flapper is closed completely. Also to touch on what one guy said about the...
http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/articles-engine-fuel/312350-how-set-base-timing-without-using-lower-timing-cover.htmlAlso make sure you groundimg out your timing conector when setting your setting this
I would double check you r mechanical timing, but you probably have it right since it runs. Most likely your CAS kust needs adjusted. You can either use you timing marks on you timiming cover like it sounds like you did to set it to 5°you or you can use an adjustable timing light and set it...
No kidding, guess I missed that. If you change that you should be good to go. There easy to change and as stated before the 2gs have a fixed base timing so you cant adjust it.
It could be the cam ange sensor(CAS) or the MPI relay. They both cut fuel and spark. I guess the best advice would be...you know you have no spark, check flto see that your injectors are opening with a noid light which you can purchase at almost any automotive store, advance auto parts, napa ect...
Just got the SD set up and want some more advice from what I've gotten on the link forums, as well as here. It's not fully set up, the MAP sensor is plumbed off the PCV manifold fitting and isn't securely mounted yet (tapping the manifold for a dedicated source soon).Mods- ebay 16g, 3"...
Everything stated above is correct. The reasoning is by venting to atmosphere you are throwing out air that has already been accounted for, so the ecu is adding the fuel needed for that air reading it got not for what air actually entered the intake mainfold causing it to run rich. You ethier...
I dont know, maybe ask the tunner. I know that at wide open throttle(WOT) The ecu goes back into open loop meaning it ignore the O2 sensor so if they are doing WOT pulls for tunning it isnt going to make a difference but your going to need to it to cycle properly to obtain good fuel trims. Your...
Alight, the way you had that worded it sounded like you said stock fuel system. I'm almost positive I had that backwards I belieive O2 sensors produce voltage upon lack of O2. Therefore your running rich and that would also explain the stumbling..4 knock retard is just over 1 count of knock...
The turbos are hit or miss, but the hot sides are good. Just look for a cheap used/blown turbo for the hot side. You should be able to pick one up for a good price.
The only thing I would be worried about is it getting cold enough on the highway to go back into open loop. This would cause it to go back to a rich condition to try to warm up the engine. You dont really want to be cruising for a long period of time in open loop and doing so will cause poor...
I would never shim the pivot ball, did it and pulled the tranny a 3rd time! just buy a new one it is like $12 on extremepsi.com. Me and a few buddies pulled my tranny about 2 weeks ago to replace mine. We had it out and back in, in 3 and a half hours. If you pump the pedal a few times before...
Could be IAC(ISC). What are your mods, may need to adjust ignition timing to get it to run/idle properly. It could also be a boost/vacuum leak. Either way I would HIGHLY sugest a boost leak test!
It sounds like it could be ingition timing. Bad/ mis-adjusted CAS? I would test that first. I would also check your timing belt and see if all the timing marks line up before you pull the head. If it turns out that timing skipped if you got lucky and it only skipped a few teeth if it were me I...
Its really straight forward once you start on it. Just make sure that you are careful when putting the new cables back through the firewall to ensure you dont brake the new ones. Do you need a set of 90 shift cables? I have a good condition set I would be willing to sell.
I guess I looked over a few things in your post. Your definately going to want to get that lower intercooler pipe on. Its not really going to want to idle with it off and that would explain why it dies/runs bad upon reving.
The car will idle with out the tsp, your cas is hooked up correctly if it fires. Sounds like it might be mis adjusted though. Check your ignition timing.
Thats good! keep it up you seem to have a good parts list going. I would make sure to add a new OEM oil pump to your list if you havent already. Other than that I would say go ahead with your build. ECM Link is extreamly worth it, if you can get your hands on it.
You can get away with not having an aftermaket FPR for awhile before the fuel pressure will eventually overcome the stock one and oval it out causing to much fuel. Also a stuck closed EGR or by eliminating the EGR esentially the same as being stuck closed will cause a rich condtion, but most...
I had similar problems when my MAF was failing. I didnt notice any drivability problems except when I tried to idleSent from my DROID X2 using Tapatalk
A good way to check if its the MPI relay under the stereo is to check for spark, that relay controls both fuel and spark. Otherwise you can ohm it out, but that isn't always a 100%.
I was told that you adjust the cable so that they easily slip on the shifter while holding it in the neural position. I need to replace my cables. I figured out that it was the cables when I started having problems with the shifter seizing up on me. Noticed one of them was fraied.
My buddy and I, Tyeler18, had the same problem with his 1990 ended up being insuficiate fuel presure. We had fuel to the raid but not enough to presurize it. Check that your don't have a hole in a line or maybe a clogged fuel filter. His ended up being a missing retainer cap on the pump itself...
I'm not sure where I'm tap at for the boost gauge, it was like that when I bought the car. Waste Gates is definately closed, caused an over boost. Hit 25psi the other day! WOOOOOOO!!!:hellyeah: The only thing I can think of is that it was the line from the j-pipe to the wastegate for thats they...
Doesn't that vacuum pressure along with the stengh of the WG spring determin how long the WG stays shut? If I remember right, I may be wrong here, but isn't that line that you tee-off to put in a MBC?I adjusted the WG with the arm still conected,I never disconnected it just turned the nut...
This car started out just needing timming done when I picked it up. We must have set the timming a couple teeth off and therefore when the compression test came back 50 - 10 - 30 - 25 we assumed the guy lied about putting a new head on it. Figured I was seeing the results of bent valves. The...
