Ok i just have one more question. 4. does that just ground to the body somewhere through a bolt? I think i have it figured out now but that is my final question..for now...thanks everyone for all of your input :-)
OK i have finally have some pictures for you to look at. :D ok the first one is a picture of the back of the starter and the wiring harness that goes to it. 1. is where i am assuming that the power wire connects to the back of the starter and 2. is the connecter that goes to the solenoid...
Ok i have a HUGE problem...When I try and hookup my cables to my battery sparks start flying from the battery posts!!!! I have juust completed a entire engine rebuild on the car. NEW EVERYTHING as far as on the motor and such. I even bought a new wiring harness for my car because mine was cut...

Ok here is the issue i have a 1g and most of the connectors are broken are missing. I still have the tabs that the connectors slide onto on the housing. There are two right together one vertical and one horizontal (i broke the connector somehow when i was putting the wiring harness back on...

all the ends are broken so all i have are the color wires. the white one is for? the one in the brown sleeve is for? and the light blue is for? i know where the go. i just dont know which one goes where??
and the wierd 90* was broken off too...
Ok i have three unknown wires where the alternator goes. I have the main connector for the alternator. 1. Is a light blue color. 2. Is a straigt white wire
3. Is a white wire in a brown sleeve. They are just kinda hanging there and it most of them were broken or cut before I took the motor...
AWD all day!! Don't Fall into the trap of the "SR20-240SX" Be BOLD, Be DIFFERENT!!!! You launch an AWD car the right way and you will never drive a FWD ever again. GST is a good car don't get wrong but its just something about it. And a side note, AWD is a blast in the snow lol
I will do my best. Beautiful car btw....That is a "ONE-OF" where i am from. Most eclipses around here are a disgrace to the DSM world :barf: sad but true
Hey my name is Tony, I have been here for awhile but didn't see this part of the forum until now lol. I have a 91 GSX aka Money Pit at the house right now. :thumb: I went JDM a few years ago. As a way to end my DSM woes but it was only the beggining of a whole new set of problems. Oh well...
ok thank you. I put one behind it that fit very well. Do think it will be ok or do i need to put the factory one behind it? The motor is out of the car fully assembled about to be dropped in next week.
Ok stupid question: Timing belt tensioner..I bought OME parts for my timing belt kit. Both pulleys, belt, auto-tensioner, and the cylinder the pushes on the auto-tensioner. Bolted it all back up but my auto-tensioner is dragging?? I put a washer behind it that fit the bolt perfectly and it...
Ok..I have just redone my entire motor! New bearings, water pump, belts, all seals, gaskets, piston rings and seals. The block has been maganafluxed and honed out. The head has been polished and cleaned. New ACT 2600 clutch and pressure plate, new unorthadox racing flywheel. My question...
well the body work is not a problem for me. I have the hook-up on that one. I think i am going to get it after i get my 1g running the way i want it. thanks for all the input guys
Ok this should be a simple yes or no question but i will probably be over analyzed as always by me and by all of you too ;) But here is the deal that i have in front of me right now96 GS 98,000 miles on it, 5-speed, upgraded wheels, front bumper is missing, and the frame is slightly crumpled...
I have to say ALL of these comments are all amazing u guys are hilarious!! And the JDM thing needs to be left alone lol...its all a matter of preference but if u get lucky..U will get the Bigger injectors, Bigger Turbo, and the "cyclone" intake, and the ECU to run it a little better than US one...
I get that lol...I started on this whole thing back in 03 i think shows you how long of a process this has been. But i promise u i wont make the same mistake again :thumb:Watch out for the mucus men too btw lol
If i knew then what i knew now then yes I would not have bought "JDM" parts in the first place. If I could go back then yeah, I would go a whole different way but this is the way i am headed and now i am getting USA stuf now. If that makes you feel better. And YES you have proved your point...
What are some of things that u have sacaraficed in order to get parts for your DSM?? As of now the Dollar menu is too high for me to eat out on now lol LOL
There wouldn't be a junkyard a few states over from would there? In the long run you would be happier in going and getting the motor rather than one big expensive guess....I am speaking from experience on that one.
I bought one of those imported engines and ended up with whole new set of problems. None that couldn't be fixed so far but it was unexpected to say the least. Some Idiot over in Japan put the worng size connecting rod bolts in. How in world do u do that?!?!?!:toobad::nono: I was...
I need a picture of the front part of the engine fully assembled out of the car. Belts and all. Its been sooooo long since i have had it completely together that i have forgoten where most of the brackets and things go. :( I really appreciate it guys. I have an idea where it all goes but a...
I am getting ready to "drop in" the motor tranny and all...Should i leave anything un-bolted to the motor? Such as the intake manifold or the exhaust and turbo? Or do i just have ALL together and drop it in slowly? I know i am going to have to go in at an Extreme angle to get it past the abs...
Well i have been cleaning and painting parts for weaks now trying to get my car ready fo the JDM swap that is going to go down in a week or too. I have cleaned everything that i can thing of and painted most of them with high temp paint to give them that "new" look :DBut one part has me...
Also too after all that u still are not sure what or where the oil is coming from. throughly was the engine or the areas in question again and put a little bit of A/C dye into the oil..not much and and see if u can get a leak detector get kit. Which basicly is a pair of yellow tinted glasses...
Well u could give it the Ole heave ho!!! Try put your breaker bar on it and giving it a sharp, hard blows with a hammer...the force and the vibration may knock it loose too
Only problem is that those rods may have been worn differently not giving the correct clearences. Therefore one clearence may have been TOO small or TOO big but switching up the of the bearings would have compensated to a point the amount of clearences that were there..
Yes Plastigage is the way to go. My old motor had a host of problems on it also thats why i bought a JDM one to start from sctratch. As i started the re-assembly i plastigage the main bearings and the connecting rod bearings to make sure its all within spec. Without that u are left to "eye...
