RIP Dan Wheldon. You were one of the highest class and most well liked racers in the community. My best wishes go to his wife and two sons Sebastian and Oliver. If there is one thing I am happy for is that you died doing what you loved and that your family was able to be with you during your...
If you have a rs then a gs catback will work just fine. And fwiw, we put a megan catback on my girlfriends old tsi and it was hands down the best sounding exhaust I have ever heard on a non-turbo dsm.
This is why I love this site, someone comes here with a problem on an Eagle Vision and people still try to help. Most other sites, if it's not a dsm then nobody gives a crap and just flames them for posting a non-dsm question. I don't know for sure about the Vision motor, but props to you guys...
Why don't you just do the smart thing and replace all of your studs and then buy a complete set of lugnuts that you are not going to have issues with? Yes, you will pay a bit more for the lugnuts and spend more time replacing studs, but will it not be worth it every time you take off the wheels?
Damn it's been a while since I have read this sub forum lol. Anyways, nice to see some western sloper guys actually posting. My name is Jeff and live in Clifton. I have been here for a while and been into the dsm game for quite a few years. I think the guy with the roommates that monster was...
Why is everybody mentioning the fans? He said right away that it is on the highway that the overheating occurs, and at highway speeds the fans are of no issue anyways. I am betting on a thermostat that is not operating properly. However, depending on how long this has been happening, that...
And for 8k you could buy yourself a clean gsx/tsi awd, mod it, and have a "very potent" 4g63 that will take down a 420a any day. And then you can spend the extra money you saved on "CF goodies or expensive rims", if that's your style.OP, why do you have this thread about swaps and another...
Hey Will, it's Jeff from RCM, I think one of the main things with the heat range of plugs is location. After reading this entire thread, I have noticed that most users that are using colder plugs live in areas that are normally high heat and/or high humidity, not to mention, air that is much...
2500 is a great deal but a 99 is hard to come by. Its really up to you on what you wanna pay but honestly i would go for the 99 with really low miles and pay the extra price.
Surprised nobody has said it yet but the driver mod would have to be my number one. Even with dsm link and a built motor and everything else you could want, without knowing how to drive the car, you wont see its full potential.
I think your best bet would be to check the classifieds. And, if nothing there, contact members that are parting out a 1g, and see if they might have what you are looking for. Good luck.
Okay that's what I thought. My buddies have a shop their dad has owned for over 25 years so I'm sure he has one I can use one of these weekends lol. I'll try the seals and if nothing, then replace the turbo. Thanks man.
That's exactly what train of thought I had on the whole thing as well. Maybe I'll just go the inexpensive route and get some valve seals and install them. They can be installed with the head on the block with our motors correct?
Not to thread jack or anything, but a compression wouldn't show leaking valve stems/guides, only valves not closing all the way, correct? So if a compression test came back ok, how would I know if it's valve seals/guides, or the turbo if the turbo doesn't have much shaftplay?
Definitely do a compression test. My g/f's talon is doing the identicle thing that you are talking about. Not losing any coolant and oil looks fine but when idling for a few minutes it smokes. I was under the impressions that maybe a valve guide/seal was leaking but if a new turbo helps you out...
^I totally agree. There is absolutely no reason anyone should be recommending a fmic for 15 psi. Unless he is road racing his car(which I highly doubt on a t25 at 15 psi), the side mount is not going to heat soak quickly and a fmic is totally unnecessary.
Clean=DSM...Stripes=Muscle Cars. That's just my opinion though. If you like the way the stripes look and want to do it, then do it. Your car is your car and you shouldn't let what other people say affect the way you mod/paint it.
I'm sure that most people working for HKS USA will get a very nice severance package from HKS due to the closure. And most of those people will probably have no problem getting another job in the industry. If I were the owner of a company like Prosport, AEM, etc., I would have no second thoughts...
As I agree, it does suck that HKS USA will be no more, doesn't mean HKS itself is going under. They were, and always have been, a japanese performance parts developer/supplier. They will still serve U.S. customers, they will just do so from overseas. This is completely different than american...
^This. You gotta make sure you aren't losing any of the air in your ic, ic piping, or the crappy 2g bov(especially if you are running higher than stock boost levels).
I forgot this was in canada, sorry lol. If the upgraded turbo is one thing that he feels raises the value alot, it should be a turbo that would have costed well over 700 brand new. It really is up to you though. If you feel its worth it to YOU, then go for it and get yourself a nice, clean, low...
The only 1g i would ever consider paying over 5 grand for would be the fittipaldi talon. Other than that, you can find one that maybe isnt as good of condition for 1500-2000 and make it just as nice, if not better, with a couple grand of work. Thats just my opinion though.
Alright, thanks guys. I'll let him know the best thing to do would be to move it higher. How much higher do you think? An inch or so? Or so the bead when he welds is almost touching the very top where it bends out?
We were thinking that since there is no pressure coming from the oil in the pan then even a small amount of pressure, from the shaft pressuring the oil just a bit, would push the oil through even if the oil is covering part or most of the hole on the inside. Would that be correct or am I...
My friend is doing a turbo conversion on his 420a and welded the oil pan for the oil return from the turbo towards the bottom of the oil pan. Someone brought up a point to him that it is too low and the oil is not going to drain because of the oil in the pan already stopping it. I don't see it...
I completely agree with Meat on this one. The previous owners had sportlines or something similair dropwise on the car. I went to pro kits with some kyb's and it was a night and day difference. The pro kit drop is perfect appearance wise and there was a bit of a noticable positive difference in...
As for the headlight cover, I don't know for sure how to do it, I never did. To seal the sides I used cardboard to make a template for the shape and size I needed, then I used the template over the main piece I cut out of the cover and cut the pieces I needed to ensure the mateial was the same...
Which one are you talking about? the evo3 or the 20g? Because when I got my 14b, which would use the same feed and return lines as either of the above turbos, they were less than 40 shipped off of the forums. So that should not be an issue cost wise.EDIT: Sorry, I just looked at your profile...
fp big t28 is 800ish iirc, evo3 is on sale for 500. Homemade install kit runs you 100 for the evo3. Therefore, evo3 with custom install kit is still 200 less and will flow more and have more potential. And btw, if you go with the fp 20g, you can find 16g turbine housings to swap to it all day on...
This. You cannot test the cps or cas with just a test light. You have to see what amount of voltage they are sending/receiving and also test for how much resistance the sensor has. Without testing properly you cannot rule those out.
I did the same mod on my first dsm which was a 90 gsx. Just use a dremel to cut out the rectangular section of the plastic. Then you can use plastic glue on the sides to seal them. And, if you prefer, you can put some steel mesh or something of the sort in front to protect the filter from...
Even if you have done things before and not really driven the car since, problems can still develop. Gunk on the throttle body may have accumulated. Vacuum hoses may have corroded and caused tiny boost leaks. Do all of the regular maintenance checks and everything and then, if the problem still...
The tank to rail kit includes a fuel lab filter already with all -an fittings so the banjo bolt wont be an issue. Honestly, with that kit being as complete as it is and you get a filter, i think it is completely worth what they sell them for. Once i have the money i am ordering their tank to...
Honestly, munkey, you should probably be able to store it in a drum for a coupke months considering you live in phoenix and the humidity there is almost nothing so water in the fuel shouldnt be an issue. Damn i miss that warm dry weather lol.
As far as i can remember, they reached the number they were going to produce and wont produce any more kits. And you wouldnt be able to get just the bumper, it was a complete package that actually increased downforce a significant amount and would run you around 4 grand if you wanted one.
