I want to hear from some people who have actually attempted only decking the head and not the block when installing an MLS head gasket. I come from mainly the LS1 world and no one decks there blocks unless doing a full build when going to MLS head gaskets. Was head gasket leaking / lifting...
Does anyone make these bushings in poly or solid? They didn't come in the prothane complete kit or motor mount kit. I finally finished doing my entire car in poly and solid bushings and these are the only ones that seem like they should be available but I can't find them anywhere.
The prothane total kit does not include subframe bushings. I am installing one right now and thats why I decided to do the subframe bushings. I got in touch with black_gst and I am picking some up from him in person tomorrow.
With how lost you are I would start by finding a well known turbo shop in the Denver area as there is not much going on in Wyoming. From what it sounds like you don't have a clue so the best thing for you is to find a reputable shop to do the work for you. You should definitely get any...
On 93-2002 f-bodys this is the way GM says to do it. The blocks are aluminum and you have to buy a special plate that connects to the valley cover to pull from the top along with pulling tons of stuff and it is easier to remove it this way. To pull from the bottom takes 3-5 hours and only...
A DSM likely would work in this way if you removed the bumper cover and lifted from the bumper. I do not know though if the rear end would clear the ground.
Front bumper returned back to shape and isn't noticeable. I was going to do the upper radiator support but I didn't know if it would be strong enough to hold.
You can pick up used C5 Corvettes at pretty good prices, almost the same as a nice LS1 f-body. The vette will be a blast with no modifications and can turn and go straight. I love my Camaro but I wish I had a C5 Z06. Just pulled the engine in my f-body today. Look for someone selling a lsx fox...
I guess I will just give FP a call and see if they can add the fittings for a fee. I eventually might want to go speed density and already have a omni map sensor and ait sensor so that is why I wanted to go with the FP intake.
On a 2g stock intake pipe it has a line coming in from the valve cover and somewhere else. I am going to buy one of the FP 4" intake pipes and wanted to know what I need to do with the two lines since it no longer has the two ports for the lines.
I have read that its safe to add about 2-3 gallons of e85 when filling up with 91 to make it 93-94 octane without changing any fuel trims or timing to help limit detonation. Has anyone tried this?
FP can weld a coupler onto the green or red to make it appear like a factory t25 to the untrained eye. I wouldn't use one with the side mount though unless you were on e85.
I personally didn't find a need to port anything on the big t28 after talking with shops. Most told me that the difference is so slight you likely will not notice or feel anything with that size turbo. After you buy a die grinder and a good high carbon carbide you will likely be out almost 60...
I have the Megan 3" downpipe and it mates to the stock o2 housing fine and is great quality for the price.Make sure to get dsmlink also as you need a way to tune. The safc is going to work but not as well as dsmlink.
I have a completely stock appearing FP big t28 setup on my car with even the stock airbox, intercooler piping and a 3" stock appearing exhaust that uses a chambered muffler and cat. It feels much better than before but using dsmlink to estimate hp and torque I believe my best numbers are 255 hp...
I was considering either of these turbos and both are rated at about 600 hp. The PTE is about 450 dollars cheaper but the FP red is a pretty proven turbo on dsms and evos. Both are journal bearing and probably spool within a couple 100 rpm of each other.
It could be either the throw out bearing or one of the internal bearings. If it goes away with pressing the clutch lightly and not all the way in I say it likely is the throwout bearing.
Must I replace the gasket if I take off the throttle body elbow? I have never taken one off on a dsm but I know with some other cars the gasket just falls apart or is too compressed to work again if removed.
Just because the turbo shaft is tight does not mean that the turbo is not bad. If it is a t-25 with over 60k I would just replace it to eliminate doubt.
Oil pressure at idle does look kind of low but should go up when raising the idle and dricing around. My big t28 with my mbc turned as low as it will go is at 20 psi spiking to 23psi so I do not think its a t28 but that it is a t25.Your idle is fine a p0120 indicates something wrong...
You would be much better off selling the kit you have if it can only be jetted down to a 150 shot. Most of the wet kits on the market can only go down to 75-100 hp minimum and you likely will let the ghost out of your clutch or just have ridiculous wheelspin or break your transmission from all...
Why not just call NOS tech line for help? If that is all you got in the kit it does not sound complete. Piecing together a nitrous system is definitely not for an amateur so you would be much better off having a shop install the kit. If you can't afford a $200 install then you should not even be...
If you would have obeyed the speed limit we would not be having this discussion. Street racing is for pppuuussssies and now you must pay for being such a dumbass. A good replacement engine will run at least 2k.
If you want real nitrous help go to the ls1 forums. They will make fun of you but being part of both communities I know that the ls1 crowd is much more enlightened to nitrous use. If you do not even know what you have though there is little that is going to help you. Just be safe and have a...
The best advice I can give is to take your time and do not get frustrated if you get stuck. Always start all the bolts by hand and never force anything. Since you are not going to have "the feel" yet it is also smart to torque everything with a torque wrench to help you get a feel for how tight...
How much of the extra stuff to change when doing a head gasket is up to you. If the timing belt looks like its cracking you should change it but you by no means MUST change all the idler, tensioner, and water pump. Just go to rockauto.com and go under engine and then head gasket. The head sets...
I know from experience because when I was 16 when I was going car shopping I found a nice twin turbo 300zx that I had already looked at that my mom agreed to get if I paid her for it in payments. The night before I got caught out drinking with my friends and she was so mad she made me wait and...
Once the rings seat they are set which usually only takes a very short time. Once you let it run for 100 miles change the oil. Drive it like you stole it after.
Your mom is likely making you get full coverage on the insurance. Get liability only in your name and it should be less than 100. All that maintenance stuff you mentioned can be done a little at a time. The main thing is just to fix the head gasket and if you shop around there are shops that...
