I think I might have an AWD flywheel. But what is the difference that it won't work? And thank you for the web page but I had already read that and I couldn't find it.
The only thin I can think of is the starter from my 98 eclipse doesn't work with this motor. But the tranny is still the same? Only difference is the 6bolt flywheel.I'm not 100% sure.
Ok. I have a 98 gst and I just completed a full 6bolt 2.4 with 1g head swap. The motor came out of a running car so I know it is good. I hooked up everything and when I try to start the car, i hear my fuel pump whine and my starter just spin. It's like the starter isn't contacting the flywheel...
Spun a rod bearing on a 2nd motor. What is going on??? I dont beat the car, It rarely sees over 4k rpm. the motor has 20k on it. I am wondering if i could re use the pistons that were new 20k ago but get new rings, rods, crankshaft and oil pump? Also do i Need to have it honed?oil pressure is...
no boost leaks. I have to do a compression test and I will get back to you about it. I think the clicking noise is because the oil cap was off.yeah when i opened the hood and saw there was no cap, I was in complete shock.
I was driving under boost about 4k rpm. and all of a sudden it just wasnt making much power and my motor started smoking and was making a loud ticking noise that came and went. I shifted into neutral and it stalled right away. Now it wont idle but it will drive fine. I looked under the hood and...
I bought brand new master and slave cylinders for the clutch and bleed the clutch numerous times by using the hose in a water bottle with fluid in it method. What's happening is if I push on my clutch slowly it will fall to the floor and stay they until I lift it back up. If I push hard and...
yes i looked at it but its not leaking. I dont this it has ever been changed so it has 136k on it. I will just go ahead and get a new one. its worth a try.
My clutch never grabs at the same spot and sometimes it will go to the floor and wont come back up, i have to pull it up with my foot. If I pump the clutch it works fine, so I pretty much have to double clutch. I cannot figure out whats wrong. I just changed the master cylinder and the fluid is...
Yes, everything on the motor is pretty much brand new. I rebuilt my short block about 6000 miles ago (pistons, rods, crankshaft, bearings) The timing belt has about 10k on it. Im ready about boost creep right now. I read alot on here, if im not working on my car im on here reading about working...
I do have a wally 255 pump, so thats good news. I have to take the car back to get it tuned up a little higher. But, do i turn up the boost until it hits the desired psi at full boost around 3100 rpm, or should i compensate for the creep and get it to creep up the the desired psi at red line? (I...
Yeah, the lines are already hooked back up and clamped on. I'm going to run it again in 2 weeks and hopefully this heat wave is gone. I will work on my launches. I launched at 3k and sliped the clutch a little, but it felt really boggy, I guess turbo lag, so I didnt really have to worry about...
I put 660 injectors in and I got it tuned with the creep. I didn't think creep was "that bad" unless its creeping into numbers where you cant tune anymore.
no cat, but my exhaust is weird. I have a 3" dp, and the at the part where the cat back bolts up to the dp it is 2.5" and goes for about 18" and then opens up to 3"
Yes im running a MBC, internal wastegate, Ported 2g exhaust manifold and ported 2g o2 housing, 3" turbo back exhaust (thermal R&D). Yes i know boost creep is bad, but I dont know how to get rid of it other then going to external wastegate.
yes its tuned. Buy my big issue with the tuning was bad boost creep. It would be 10psi until around 5500 and then creep up to 16psi by 6500. So I got it tuned to work with the creep.
I have a 2g FWD and I went to the track 2 days ago. My best 60' was 2.498 and my 1/4 mile was [email protected]. I was hot out that day, 98 to be exact. After i got home I noticed 2 of my vacuum lines we not connected, both on the back of the intake manifold. Could that make my times that bad???
My...
The car will stay running. It's just when I come to a stop the idle will drop to 550-600rpm quickly. And if I don't rev it a little it will stall. But even if I rev it and it doesn't stall, it will still idle at 600rpm. I will check the ignition though thank you for that.
Yes. Everything is all hooked up. My car runs fine until it's warmed up. Also, it seems like I have less power with this turbo but I am still running stock boost. I'm afraid to turn it up until I get a tune.
I just installed a 16g on my car and now it will barely stay on at idle. I have no boost leaks and my narrowband gauge is stuck on the highest rich it could go and doesn't move.my car also won't stay on at idle after it warms up. Do I have to reset my ecu after adding the turbo or could it be a...
I had a narrowband in my car for a while and recently it just stay on the highest light of rich and doesn't move what so ever. Does anyone have any ideas? (other then buy a wideband?)
How does a place that tunes know how much boost you can run? Do you just say how much boost you would like to run, or do they just keep adding boost and tuning until they find a happy medium?
Lol yea, everytime I hit it my gf looks at me like I don't know how to drive lol. I guess the wideband and a tune is the only way for me to get rid of it?
White smoke but smells like gas??? I had the same problem. I had an exhaust leak at my manifold and that messed up my o2 sensor right after the turbo. Try changing that.
Exactly... And it's getting old lol. Especially when I'm winning and then the steering wheel biting begins. So does anyone know how I could fix this? The only thing I can think of is the fuel filter hasn't been changed, probably since the car came off the assembly line in 1998. Could a bad fuel...
Also I have a 255 walbro fuel pump on and I have done boost leak tests plenty of times. I had a nice size leak at my throttle body and that is fixed and my system hold 20psi easy. So I have no boost leaks and I'm only running 12psi on a 14b. What could be the problem?
I've have been hitting fuel cut since I've had the car. And I think it has something to do with spinning 2 rod bearings. That's why I'm on my 3rd motor. But my question is "is it fuel cut"? Around 4k rpm I will be pulling hard then it will sound like a backfire and I'll be thrown forward almost...
Ported and polished the head about 10k ago and just broke in the new shortblock. After taking a trip of 155miles, I noticed a loud tapping noise that sounds like it's comming from right next to the cam gears. My car doesn't seem to be running right either. Lower idle at times and a little doggy...
After you cross the line, is it better to let the engine slow you down and use your brakes or is it better to put it in neutral and use your brakes and why? I just always wondered.
I just bored my motor (4g63) .020 over and put 8:1 compression pistons in. I was wondering what psi could I run my turbo (14b) and be safe and what would be the max to run at the track? All of my mods are up to date in my profile. Thank you for the help!
sounds like a spun rod bearing. But like dboyle23 said its a knock, like metal against metal in a hollow area. (on my 3rd motor after 2 spun rod bearing motors) and i had my cars knocking get really bad and then shut off and then it wouldnt start again. Drop the oil pan and turn the crank by...
I checked. It doesn't say it on there or their forums.I found out you use the mainscale to set the percent increase in injector size... thanks for the help
I had the same problem!!! I had to literally slam it into first and reverse just to get it in and it would grind!! What I did was changed the tranny fluid to the pennsoil syncromesh and adjusted the clutch so it grabed higher. That fixed my problem. Hope it helps!
I have a 2g gst, I wired up the maft and selected everything and the car starts and idles fine. My question is where or how do I select the injector size on the maf translator itself like on the original maft? I have 660cc injectors and I dont know if I have to select it somewhere on the unit or...
I pulled a motor out of a running car I had and it only had 65k on it. So everything on the inside of the old motor was set aside. The other motor had nothing from the old one on the inside. But I did use the same oil pump.
