There's a little elbow on the exhaust housing of the turbo that moves the waste gate flapper. If that is stuck open, then it will eventually build boost but it will take more effort from the car. The waste gate actuator arm slides onto it. It's pretty much a "L" shaped piece on the turbo.
Looking sick man! I'm Dane, I had those busted hx52 parts laying around...we talked a few months back. But, I'm glad to see it coming along man, it's looking solid!
The compressor wheel on my HX40 is 66mm. It's the "Devil Pro" that I had made by Turbolab, should put some pretty sick numbers down once I get the new motor squared away!
Not much really going on lately. I had to re-sell my rods and v3 because I'm moving soon and need the cash! But, I did get my hands on an old school Apexi T3 manifold. It's cracked in a few spots but I think it's fixable. I'm going to have to do some finangeling to get the hotside on my HX40 to...

That sucks to hear about what happened man. Me personally, I have never had any sort of bad run-ins with Ian, or Austin. Those guys work extremely hard, it's only the two of them running their shop. I went up and visited one time on break from school, and they literally never stopped moving from...
A little update: Things have been put on the back burner lately. There was a death in the machinist's family at the machine shop, and I was not able to get my block back today, but that's completely fine for obvious reasons. I have decided to sell my 2.4 crank, and bearings, because I want to...
Woohoo update time! Got a couple goodies in the mail today, along with word I'm getting my block back soon :)HKS Adjustable Cam Gears: (Thank you Turbo Monk3y!)Manley H-Beam rods with ARP 2000 rod bolts! And I took my hand at fixing the dents in the oil pan from the block when I...
Here's a little update:I have decided I am going to go with the Manley Turbo Tough H beam rods. Now, the only thing I need to do to get them, is get the money! I will go with used rods, but I am going to do things right and get good rods so nothing will go boom (knock on wood) when everything...
Turbo came in :)This thing is HUGE. For those of you who don't know me, or haven't met me. I'm a big dude. 6'3 200lbs. I played football and yadda yadda yadda, basically where I'm getting at, is the size of this thing. I can fit my entire fist in the inlet. It's gonna make some serious power...
Hopefully by summer, at the latest the beginning of the fall semester at school, around August or so. It all depends on the money situation. Man I'd love to use E85 but its a two hour drive to the closest place around. So I'm going to do a pump gas tune and a race gas tune. The race fuel will...
Well, this is a little update. Things have been nuts lately at the shop getting things set up and working on the race car. We were at Road Atlanta for the past Chumpcar race. We were holding a solid 6th position when the CAS fell out (DOH!!), and the wrecker that came and picked the car up...
Austin got my turbo built! He posted this picture of it on the TurboLab Facebook group. Ohhhh man I'm stupid excited! Here's the measurements:
Holset HX40
6666. 66x84 compressor and 66 x 78 turbine.
WOW! That looks absolutely huge! I'm glad someone decided to venture out and try the VVT turbos! I'm not sure of the size of the turbo, but its VVT, and it sounds like a hair dryer when the veins open or close at idle. Pretty sweet stuff! That manifold is absolutely beautiful!
Check this out fellas! Got some parts, and getting everything started soon :)

Thanks man! Yeah the last missing links before I take it to the machine shop to get bored .20 over, and assembled are the rods. If I can find a decent set of rods for a good price I'm going to try and jump on them, but we will see. And see if someone wants to trade a practically new set of 272's...
Well, keep in mind, I'm a full time college student. So the funds are limited. I got those cams for a steal! I would like to trade them or find a set of 280's though :)
Well, it has finally come time! The 7 bolt in my 95 gsx is doing its thing (walking), and I have started to source together all my parts. Here's a little bit about the car, me, and my plans:The car:
It is a 1995 Mitsubishi Eclipse GSX. I bought it from the original owner (technically the...
Hey everyone, I'm just trying to spread the word of the new performance shop I just started working at. It's called TI Racing, and we specialize in SCCA cars, Mazda, Mitsubishi, and Nissan cars. Here's a link to our Facebook page. Please like it and consider us with anything you need done...
Ok I see what you're saying. Well, I am assuming that the piston set is already set to go for this, because I was told that it will be a drop in affair. It was also brought to my attention that this will not be a 2.4, and that it will be a 2.3 stroker kit. Interesting.
Yeah, it is a 6 bolt 2.4 crank. The pistons are .20 over. I texted my buddy and asked if he'd send me some pictures of everything but he hasn't gotten back to me yet. So, that being said, I'm assuming with the 2.4 crank, I can use regular 6 bolt rods? I'd like to get a set of Eagle rods, or the...
Yeah, I've herd that 5-600hp is the threshold of those rods. I just don't want to have to rebuild it again due to rod failure or anything like that anytime soon.
So, long story short. I bought a 6 bolt long block off one of my friends from back home. Well, I saw the car run, it wasn't smoking, and ran great. It ran a 8.62 in the 1/8 a weekend before on a 14b and has given my buddy no problems. Well, my 7 bolt started to crank walk. So, he sold me the...
So, with my new job, we are an Amsoil dealer. I got put in charge of making an order list of all the kinds of oil and everything else Amsoil sells, and what I think everyone would use. So, my question to you all is, what do you use? Haha, as blunt as that is, Amsoil has plenty of different...
Thanks for the replies guys! My CEL is on, but it's from the previous owner clipping the rear o2 sensor, and my egr valve being deleted. I did a boost leak test yesterday and fixed all my boost leaks too. It's running really rich on start ups. It has a brand new o2 sensor for the wideband as well.
Hello everyone. This has just started happening recently since it's started to get colder. I got a new ISC, and FIAV so unless they're defective parts, I've ruled those out. I just put a set of new plugs (BPR7ES gapped at .26). Any ideas? I'll let the video do that talking, but in short: on a...
First, I'd take your valve cover off and make sure all the cam caps are torqued to the correct specs. Then, I'd double check your tensioner. If it's the hydraulic tensioner, chances are that he did not align the pulleys as far as he should have, or he reused the tensioner.
Well, being that I'm on break from class. I got to go home. My Dad has a lot of dremel bits...sanding and cutting. So, needless to say, I'm on the verge of wrapping this puppy up! Here's some pictures of how it sits now, still got a couple more run throughs of the sanding bits and what not, then...
How about if the short block is assembled? I want to clean/paint my short block but it is already completely assembled with the oil pump and everything. It looks like the OP's block :/
Meh, I like that look. I haven't seen someone do it on a DSM before, so it's going to be a first. Plus, I still got my Thermal R&D exhaust if I don't like it :)
From the two that you originally posted, I would go with JE. I have had great luck with JE pistons in all my old race bikes. But if I were to buy a set of pistons for me personally, I would go with CP, or JE depending on the cost.
So I got a little more of a chance to tool around with my head today (giggity). But for real, I cleaned things up a little bit more, and got more sanding bits. Here's where I stopped for today, and here's a picture of the tools I'm working with. I also cut up my new 2gb front bumper today :)
Those videos were very helpful! Haha I wish I had the same tools you guys had. I'll post a picture of what I'm working with tomorrow. It's great for two valve Harley Davidson heads that don't need as much attention as these, but I'm making it work :)
No worries! It's not that I don't know what I'm doing...I'm just not fimiliar with terms and everything associated with the acutal porting process. Like I said in my first port, I ported and polished the heads on my motorcycle, along with my old dirt bikes, and even my Dad's bikes. It's just...
Ahh I'm sorry, I completely forgot the head was upside down in the pictures. So, for the parts outlined in the red, those are suppose to just be made smooth? I'm kind of lost at what you guys are talking about here :/
Tinkered with it a little more today. Thank you viperlp01! I appreciate the help man :)Still got some more shaping to do. I'm limited to the bits I have right now for the time being. But, progress nonetheless!
