  1. Manifold to turbo bolts coming loose?

    Make sure the downpipe is anchored to the block. The biggest reason these bolts come loose is because people get a bigger downpipe and don't reconnect it to the block.

    As far as I know, the 1g and 2g use different MAS plugs.

    GNs are automatics as far as I know. Which means those guys don't have to close the throttle to shift. We do; a BOV is necessary. Tell your buddy to put that in his pipe and smoke it.dp

    Go with the ACT 2600. Do it once, do it right. Even if you don't need the clamping force of the 2600, the beefier it is, the longer it will last. You don't want to do this again in a year do you?dp

    Found this on an automechanics webite:A waste spark is the spark that occurs 360° from the “normal” spark that fires the fuel mixture. Remember the “normal” spark occurs every 720° (2 turns of the crank shaft).

    I've heard that it's more likely to be leaking oil from the valve stem seals than from the rings. Since the bottom end of these engines are designed to handle so much boost/stress/pressure, it makes sense that they are very durable and not likely to wear quickly.dp

    GRANDSM, I am not ignorant of the difference between balance issues inherent in an inline 4 and harmonic vibration that occurs at various rpm. What I am ignorant of is which has more potential to cause problems/damage to the engine. You guys could be right: maybe bearings, main caps, crank, rods...

    The VR-4 is the same as a 1g; its a 6-bolt engine. But the 2g ecu's are different than the 1g's, right? Which means if I want to tune my car thoroughly, I'll need a Datalogger and a S-AFC, and the DSM Link isn't an option.dp
