Make sure the downpipe is anchored to the block. The biggest reason these bolts come loose is because people get a bigger downpipe and don't reconnect it to the block.
Agreed. TOTalon, you should appreciate the price. NOTHING gives this level of performance at this low price. AND with flexibility in how you set it up. Ever heard the phrase "Don't look a gift horse in the mouth?"Dave Peter
GNs are automatics as far as I know. Which means those guys don't have to close the throttle to shift. We do; a BOV is necessary. Tell your buddy to put that in his pipe and smoke it.dp
Mike, hats off to you for keeping up with all these questions. Here's another: Can the GM MAS handle the pressure/volume in a blow through set up? Obviously they were designed for a draw through application. But we'll be forcing up to 22psi through this thing if it's blow through. Aren't MASs...
That's my point. It seems like nobody has gotten it to work. So I was wondering why you would try and put a system together following these directions if they don't work.
Go with the ACT 2600. Do it once, do it right. Even if you don't need the clamping force of the 2600, the beefier it is, the longer it will last. You don't want to do this again in a year do you?dp
Found this on an automechanics webite:A waste spark is the spark that occurs 360° from the normal spark that fires the fuel mixture. Remember the normal spark occurs every 720° (2 turns of the crank shaft).
Nobody out there knows why the Bushcur COP works or how it's different? Somebody posted that it's waste spark, so what coils do they use on that set up?"I will try and find out if they have a waste spark system."Thanks venom.dp
You sure 'bout that, cwilcox? Sounds like everyone's still having trouble with the coils, since the ones from the 300m aren't waste spark. And where can I find the plans?dp
Forgive my ignorance, but is there some drawback to having the plug fire on the exhaust stroke? (That is what you mean isn't it?)Also, Hal's link isn't working. So where do I get the plans? I really want to do this mod, but obviously need to do more research (read: learn more). This post is...
My buddy is setting up his '95 GSX for autocross and wanted me to ask a question. I did search for the answere to it and didn't find anything, so forgive me if it's been discussed. Feel free to include any links with information.OK, he's stripped (lightened) the chasis and will use KYB...
I've heard that it's more likely to be leaking oil from the valve stem seals than from the rings. Since the bottom end of these engines are designed to handle so much boost/stress/pressure, it makes sense that they are very durable and not likely to wear quickly.dp
Tevenor:Thanks for the post. What happened to you is definitely worth considering, especially on the new balanced 6 bolt. That's the kind of feedback I was talking about.dp
GRANDSM, I am not ignorant of the difference between balance issues inherent in an inline 4 and harmonic vibration that occurs at various rpm. What I am ignorant of is which has more potential to cause problems/damage to the engine. You guys could be right: maybe bearings, main caps, crank, rods...
Like I said earlier, has that happened to anyone you know because they replaced their harmonic balancer with an underdrive pulley?Anthony, I'm in north Asheville, near The Hop on Merrimon.dp
Larry, I've been keeping up with some of your posts, so I know what point you're at. If I were in your shoes, I would use the OEM headgasket. You've got the ARP studs. That's all I would do if I were in your situation.dp
Dude, my harmonic balancer just failed and I replaced it with an Unorthadox Racing underdrive pulley. It was about $220 shipped to my door in three days. The stock balancer is about eight pounds (I can't remember exactly), and the billet (aluminum) replacement pulley is under three. (They say...
The VR-4 is the same as a 1g; its a 6-bolt engine. But the 2g ecu's are different than the 1g's, right? Which means if I want to tune my car thoroughly, I'll need a Datalogger and a S-AFC, and the DSM Link isn't an option.dp
OK guys, forgive my ignorance, but I'm not sure I understand the whole pocketlogger thing. Does it only log data, and you need a S-AFC to change things? Or can you use it to tune the car too? Please feel free to share all your knowledge. BTW, I have a '92 Galant VR-4.Also, I read in one...
I think there's also Unorthadox Racing, but I don't know how much it is. I think I remember it being more than the Fidanza.Try looking here:

Yeah, I've been looking at this header for a while, but have not heard of anyone with one. If any of you guys get one, let me know how it holds up.Thanxdp
