Recommendations on some good O2 sensors?

I have access to an OBD-II scanner...the codes are definitely upstream and downstream O2 sensors (specifically bank 1 and bank 2 oxygen sensor malfunction, which translates to upstream and downstream O2 sensors since the 420a only has 2 oxygen sensors). I don't remember the specific code...

Should I Buy this eclipse for $600?

Definitely no. Too many possibilities of that car being a money pit, and if you're running on a limited budget (like it sounds from your original post), this is definitely not the car for you. There are tons of 420a's in decent shape available for around the same price...but it sounds to me...

Recommendations on some good O2 sensors?

Looking for some O.E. O2 sensors for my 420A, but not a huge fan of Bosch. The Denso ones look pretty reasonably priced on autozone.com, but I haven't had any sort of experience with these (durability, longevity, etc.). I guess what I'm asking is if anyone here knows a good place to get a...

Really wish I'd asked this question before I went and bought (and prepped) the new Saturn alternator...good info in this thread guys. And I have to ask the same question as VelocitàPaola, where in the world can you find a new alternator for the 420a for 80-90 bucks? The Saturn alternator...

    Need a straight answer...

Thanks for the answers guys...I was looking for a way to keep a stronger charge in my car's battery (I run a system with a 1000w amp and two 12's, but never installed a capacitor...), looks to me like the better way to go would be to just fork out the money for a good capacitor and call it a...

I have a 99 GS with the 420A motor...I want to do the Saturn alternator swap (already have the right Saturn alternator, have ground it down, and am ready to install). I have heard though from some people that the swap can only be done on the 4g63? Someone please give me a straight answer...any...

Bank thing is probably a no-go. You said you haven't been at your job very long (banks prefer people who have been at their job for a few years...stability), you're young, which probably means no credit history (which is actually worse than having a bad credit history, believe it or not). 19...

Who has the FASTEST n/t car on here?

*retardedThe majority of this thread was written back in 2003-2004, when our cars were much closer to new and consequently a little bit more expensive (with a much higher resale value I might add). Taking that into consideration, I don't understand your logic here, what you're saying is that...

This. Because why would you choose to commit a crime against someone to punish them for committing a crime against you? And if the guy is desperate enough to break into your car for a backpack and a GPS that he may be able to get a hundred bucks for at a pawn shop, could he really have...

    Keyless Entry

No problem, glad to help. I'm not sure how good that keyless setup is that you posted, I personally have no experience with it, but so long as the kit contains a receiver, the proper wiring harness (or a good set of instructions), and remotes, it should be fine. Do some research before...

Call into your local Mitsubishi dealership and give them the VIN, they will be able to look up and see whether or not your car came with keyless entry. If the dealership tells you your car has it, you may still want to do a quick check to make sure the receiver hasn't been removed somewhere...

2G Eclipse Overheating Issues. PLEASE HELP!

Those back flush kits are great (and like Locke says, cheap), and I recommend installing one on the car, as it gives you a handy way to insure you're getting that crud out of the block when you change coolant (corrosion, etc.). They're not really necessary if you flush your system correctly...

2G What's the point of blocking off EGR valve (Merged)

The EGR valve recirculates hot, dirty air back into your motor as a way of cutting down on emissions. The problem is, it dumps all that carbon back into the motor as well. Blocking off the EGR will keep your intake much cleaner, which is really the only true benefit you gain from blocking it...

420A 420a not idling right cannot figure out why!

The EGR can definitely affect the motor at idle. It is supposed to be closed at idle, so if it is faulty and is actually open at idle (a filthy EGR can cause this to happen), it'll act like a huge vacuum leak, and cause some of the issues you mentioned. Far too many times on these forums I...

I went back and checked the thermostat again, just to rule it out as a possible culprit. I boiled it on the stove, it opened like it was supposed to. EGR problem?

I would take it off to clean it, it's much easier, isn't complicated to get it off, and this way you're not blowing all that carbon back into your motor (causing more problems).Blocking the EGR will give you a CEL (I have heard there are ways around that, but haven't found any yet myself...

Car shakes at 60mph and above?

Before you start taking stuff apart, look for obvious stuff on the tires, like chunks of tread missing, bulges, flat spots and uneven tread wear. How old are the tires? When was the last time you rotated them? Are they inflated properly (and evenly)? Always start with the basics first!

There is a pretty good write up on it here: http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/articles-turbo-system-intercooler/169435-boost-leak-test-how-boostpro-net-tester.htmlI would recommend using a spray bottle with soapy water to help find small leaks too. Hope this helps.

Sounds like you may have found a couple of bad relays. You can test them to make sure, follow the instructions here: How to Test a Car Relay | eHow.comProbably a safe bet to go ahead and replace them though. And I would definitely recommend getting the right sized battery, don't take any...

Can an auto trans go into limp mode and not have a CEL on?

Limp mode is designed to let you run the car without doing further damage, so you should be fine. I just wouldn't take it on the highways!

Can an auto trans go into limp mode and not have a CEL on?

I've seen limp mode without a CEL before (long story short...I was a dumbass and drilled through my main wire harness when running my amp power cable...yeah, I'm an idiot sometimes!), its definitely possible.

You can buy a replacement IAC at Autozone or Advanced or even Napa. Check it before you replace it though, check this thread for how to check it: http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/420a-bolt-tech/369833-p0505-idle-air-ecu.html
