@ justmx, that's some major thrust wear! at least he could salvage it.
@ tanro, i would of noticed a spun rod bearing, they dont exactly spin without it knocking constantly. this was an obvious oil restriction that rapidly degraded. yea i should have towed mine home, but then i would have just...
Crank-walk** anyway to edit the title?well i was on the highway the other day, when suddenly my car started knocking a bit. pulled off checked the oil, was full. i knew it was pretty much done for at that point, so i tried to limp it home, made it about 3 miles and boom! threw rod #2...
yea, that looks identical to mine, i have tried the 8000 offset but i keep getting error codes during validation as you mentioned (unrelated to offsets i realize). im using the 97ja software recommended bye other willem users, perhaps ill try the 97g.
thanks for the tips, ill give them a shot...
what about the check engine light? it should light up breifly when you turn the key on. if it does, then get a meter and test the leads to your coil pack.check for 12v switched (key on) and ground, and the signal wires while cranking. im not sure on the 2g wiring diagram, so i dont know what...
i meant jackal on the whole ds-map comment, i recalled skimming the recent support thread here on tuners, and a growing concern for new and future users of the avaliablity of software and support.
i realize now, that the ostrich doesn't burn chips, i was thinking of the auto prom"s features. so...
both what? the crank sprocket drives two belts but is one piece its self. it should slide off without using any puller. may need a tap or two like mentioned above.
thanks steve and don, i understand what you are saying. ive been trying to set the image to 008000 to 00ffff chip start to end, but the willems software isnt the easiest to operate.i found this write up yesterday, if you scroll down to the programing steps at post #9 on the last page, you...
a log would be very helpful, download techno motive data logger software, it cost nothing for the software, and the cable is a few bucks to make at radioshack. works great!anyways have you eliminated missfires? dsm's use the waste spark ignition. check if 2 cylinders are dead, that will cause...
wrong forum dude, this is tuning and engine management.anyways, sounds like you have lost power to the mpi circuit. does any of your acc's work? how bout the radio? does the check engine light come on for a sec, when in the on postion? i would start with the mpi fuseable link right on the batt...
sst27sf512's and i set the dip switches to what the program tells me for those switches so 1 2 4 6 10 11 12 down and 3 5 7 8 9 up.i found this just now, and think i may have the info i was looking for.http://tech.mirage-performance.com/ECU/EPROM-info.html -link""Posted by: "Steve...
tuner pro only burns directly with the moates burn 2 i believe. im using tuner pro only to mod bins.
my problem isnt with tuner pro itself, but with the programmers software, or my inability to operate it properly.i keep getting this "error at 0x00003E chip = 0xbd buffer 0xff" inside my...
i have been searching and trying different things to burn a new eprom chip. i have all the hex in place. when i burn the chips however, i seam to be using incorrect offsets for the hex. i have tried both the 16k and 32k maps, and im using tuner pro to alter them.also i have tried just...
balance shafts aren't to hard to remove. its a little time consuming and tight if the engine is in the car. if you can do a timing belt you can do this. there is some extra steps from timing belt tear down for the balance shaft removal.if you do the elimination, you can inspect your oil pump...
if your gauge is accurate.low oil pressure is common in worn 4g63's.
i blame in part the balance shafts. after doing the balance shaft elimination, ie rotating the shafts bearings to block oil flow, after removing them. lifters are quiet, and i gained quite a bit of oil pressure. i went from...
oh forgot to confirm the fix, turned out the eprom chip was the problem. weather or not it was from being corrupted or just a contact issue, it was the cause.
@eclipserydait was brand new, but i bought it from a guy locally. i hogged out the wastegate hole like jusmx's link said in another thread, im not turning the boost up till i replace my leaking drain tube. i have everything to max this bastard out already otherwise.
just slapped my ebay evo III turbo on last night. as well as an authentic evo 3 o2 housing. runs good at 12 psi. will crank it up before long. picked up the turbo from a kid for 100$ not bad.
sounds like a cracked or weak coil to me. pull em and inspect them for cracks or obvious shorts to ground. it will usally leave a chard trace if it they are grounding out.
yea, agreed on a lowered stance. the cas is bad, its a very clean dsm, a 90 that has only 40k, and is bone stock. im talking factory everthing. isnt even due for a t-belt by mileage!
they are bent wheels that are sitting in the shop, so the center caps are on the new wheels. but yea, i hear ya, some triple diamonds would make them look that much better.
a 90 gsx was towed in today, so while it is in the shop, i popped a couple of 4th gen eclipse 18's on it to see how it would look. thought id share the pics here.
couldnt get a very good shot in the shop, and cam phone is weak.
well so far they are running great, no misfires and plenty of power. only problem is, when i hook up the tach, the engine starts running like crap. it seems the tach weakening the ecu signal to the coils, i think i can get around this problem before to long, and have an end result of a pretty...
if anyone wanted to know, wrx/sti coils will work as a coil on plug setup on 1g dsm's. (maybe 2g's as well, i donno) you also dont need the power transistor anymore, since the coils have built in transistors.not a bad deal, given the fact that they were free from a co worker. i cant get any...
yea, they mount up pretty damn good. i started to wire them in tonight, but didnt finish.im thinking with these internal transistor coils, i can eliminate the power transistor. any thoughts wisemen?
i have searched the past hour, and havent found anyone that has done this. i have 4 wrx coils and pig tails. my question is, has anyone done the cop mod with these particular coils?my power transistor is bad, so i figured ill throw these in while im at it. i know the stock stuff will...
i agree with jusmx141 on checking the belt tension. the eccentric pulley on the tensionor arm could be clocked to tight and causing excessive load on it. when you removed the belt, did you try adjusting the eccentric a bit?
anyways
yea, if that bearing is louder(after adjustment) it couldn't...
an actual leakage tester uses compressed air through the spark plug hole while you rotate the cams slowly to bring them closed, no oil is involved.
using this method saves time and money since the engine isnt running and the timing doesn't have to be reset to check valve leakage/damage.
hmmn, your best bet would be using a stethoscope or long screw driver near the problem area. its difficult to judge were the sounds coming from in the video.it does sound kinda like a bearing failure in one of the idlers so grab a long screw driver, and carefully press the tip to each of the...
hhmm, now that i may have overlooked. ill check that and fix it if necessary at lunch. i leave my soldering equipment at home. thanks again steve, i shoulda just sent this thing to you to start with!update.yep, solder is fully penetrated to the top of the board. bummer was hoping i flubbed...
im willing to bet the hydraulic tensioner has failed if the belt is that new and the car has been sitting unstarted for some time.
if the car is still running, you could likely get away with just a tensioner and re installing the current belt, but a leak down test should only take a good tech...
