1g 7 bolt heads have the same size intake ports as a 6 bolt, 2g 7 bolts have the smaller ports. I am running a 7 bolt head on my 6 bolt. If the head says 2.0 it will work, just do the oil port mod.
Have you done a compression test? My engine smoked after fresh rings and bearings, didn't touch head. Had oil on piston tops, pulled head and cleaned, lapped valves and installed new valve seals. No more smoke and 175psi across the board! I have less than 100 miles on this engine, car not legal...
I used a piece of ducktape on the back and filled the cavaty up (1/4") thick, I know I'm cheap! Ol' Lady keeps me broke. No leaks yet, that was 2 years ago.
Sounds like you have two problems. Bad head gasket and bad valve seals. Good time to replace valve seals since the head has to come off anyway. I would also recommend doing oil port mod also.
why not put your rebuilt engine and other goodies on the awd to get it going, then keep the fwd for parts(if you have a place to keep it).never hurts to have extra parts(i've got three parts cars.
I have the same problem with too much fender gap.Since I'm currently unemployed(more time than money) I was thinking of cutting a coil off stock springs.I have two parts cars so no loss if it doesn't work.
92 tsi $2,500 160,000mi, 30,000 on reringed 6bolt ported head(exhaust port) manifold, wastegate, arp mainstuds, mbc ,cracked paint.Three years ago,297,000mi only thing I've done is timing belt changes every 40,000mi,and on my third clutch(cheapy parts store replacements, damper springs keep popping...
what were you working on? mechanical or electrical? its probably a fuse, not sure on a 2g,but 1g has 3near the battery. It's probably a battery or alt fuse, are you getting power to ignition.Power goes to ignition first then to relays,do you have a chitlon or haynes.I'll check back tomorrow to see...
A car is only as good as the person working on it,and they won't run on hopes and dreams for very long, regardless on make, model or year.I've had mine for 4years now.My first turbo car also,I paid $2,500 from a kid I worked with,he had too many.I drove 150 miles round trip for three years before...
I agree with the compression test.I reringed my 6bolt and reused my head and it started putting oil in clinders, smoking.pulled the head and installed new valve spring seals and fixed the problem.mine where so bad when I pulled the plugs, you could see oil on top of the pistons. never used oil...
I think he's refering to the 5mph bumper shock and not the actual strut.I think it would be ok,just make sure the shock is out the same length on each side.
hi all, i live about 60 miles from stl worked at union shop for ten years before they busted the union. been unemployed for a year. i went to gateway couple years ago,was closed for special event.would like to see what she'd run though.i'm pretty much all stock.would be my first time down the...
