fellow DSM'er claims I can pull & replace the head studs without disturbing the head or gasket..... is this possible .... even recommended?mentioned they permitted the use of an allen key.

I bought a new Master and slave cylinder for my clutch and after replacing the slave I started to pull the parts to get at the Master Cylinder when I noticed it looked almost brand new..... so I decided to risk it and leave the existing one in.anyway so I bled the line and got good pedal...

I've got clunking in my suspension when I hit bumps..... the garage says it's front lower rear ball joints and that I have to replace the entire assembly including the arm.the oem parts are pricey....... is their no alternative or an aftermarket option & can I replace just the ball joints...

didn't drain tank but was about to go on 2nd tank of gas.the problem turned out to be electrical and I've got a new problem that'll likely kill the car.cylinder #3 suddenly has 75 pounds compression and is misfiring at light throttle input occasionally... the other 3 cylinders all have 220...

ok well.... it was a twisty piece of metal that resides in the for lack of a better term mainshaft with all the gears on it or center shaft.I didn't pull it and after I started this thread I drove over to have a look..... I put it back in, it looks like it serves to basically stir oil within...

ok my 1998 ESI Eagle talon (NV T350) manual transmission was making this horrid noise, it was intermittent and sounded like a chattering scraping.so anyway we pulled the transmission and split it to find...... oh yeah after pulling the transmission we started the car and the noise was gone so...

just an update, I found the plates at AutoPartsWay for a really nice price but they only had the back plates.... less than $25 each so I bought 4 for the 2 Talons.note: if looking for front plates be careful the online websites aren't showing the right picks and are confusing bushing kits...

just a final update for any that find this thread later on.we pulled the transmission again.... the problem is/was not the pilot bearing the clutch for the car is complete modular and the pilot is in it.after pulling the transmission we started the car and could not replicate the noise...

here is an update for those that might have the same question.yes I would have had to swap the bell housing, the 1997 Neon tranny is cable while the Talon transmission is hydraulic.this would have been ok except that along with needing to swap bell housings you also need to do something...

I had a friend listen to it today and he claims if it's not the release bearing it's the "pilot bearing" apparently their are 2 bearings..... he said I just need to pull the tranny again and use a puller to get the other bearing out and replace it.anyone know if this sounds about right and...

it's a 3.94 tranny and uses a cable clutch...... but it should work?the owner is asking $200 and claims it's in perfect condition.p.s. thanks for the info.
