SO long story short did a bunch of work to it thinking it was going to TX 2k13.... not so much :(Put in a legit little kiggly part in the head, its expensive for what it is but its cool. It limits oil pressure to the head to 15 psi so that it keeps a lot more oil pressure in the bottom end...
went out and did some tunning and got it running solid... then went and raced a 1000whp truck and got a got a solid win..... WHILE blowing a head gasket.got it apart and man did i blow a gasket and torch the head in the process..it wasn't that deep (forgot to take a before) this is...
the old nasty exhaust manifold blew out...got it all fixed up with some thick SS, even went a little larger pipe to help flow, also recirculated my wastegate while i was in there.new tires. YES. old ones were 24.6, these are 26.1needless to say it fills the fender opening quite...
trust me i have been thinking about it.... i wanna go bigger turbo anyways so i would need it.but for now the NO2 will get my by.here is the video from the trackday... man the 60' is painfully slow but it comes on hard and strolls out, just to little to late for any kind of decent...
SO...that finally catches the build thread up to present.CAR been running with the auto swap for a few months fighting small issue's here and there. Finally got it lined out enough to see how it would do at the track. (i knew it wouldn't launch well)(stay tuned for video)...
gots another update... finally found another few days to knock some more stuff out...been trying to figure out what i wanna do with the shifter and got it figure out...chopped out a nice CF plate from a piece i madepulled apart the stock shifter...measured it out and marked it...
yeah. im well aware of how that all works. but gearing is gearing irrelevent of the converter. all the calculation are with 0 vert slip. 8,000 rpm in 3rd with a 24.6 tire does 132 ish. I need like 160 :)yeah. i agree but manual is what was in my car... AUTO = way better for drag but i...
Im really hoping that someone knows if its possible to change a 2G AWD AUTO trans final drive out for a taller one.its a 91 galant vr4
built 2.4 around 750 whp currently
build 2g auto trans (welded center)
24.6" tire (currently)
revs to 8kcar will only do about 130 at redline in...
(cue ricky bobby) I just wanna go fastttt, if your not first your last. :) Auto's win races man. that simply. everyone loves rowing gears but thats what my dailys for. when im in this thing its one thing in mind. hauling ass and winning races.i thought about it but honestly its not...
had a welded diff in my car in both auto and manual with lsd rear, welded rear and open rear diff....i love welded center diff and will always have one. If for no other reason its awesome if you break something you can just pop off the tcase and drive shaft and drive it in FWD mod :)
sorry to resurect some dead threadness....but loving this and been trying to find some info of people with ratchet autos...got a galant vr4 with build 2.4 67mill turbo and build auto. i just have the kiggly free wiring setup now using a stock shifter and it sucks having no ratchet...
heck yeah. deff could make a cool sleeper for sure.whats your budget / power goals... hard to give you any kind of advice on what direction to head with it without knowing more details.
Miller Syncrowave 200 with the aircooled torch...use it as a 'hobby' per say but very heavy use. welded with it ###### 20 hours this week.I love it and have nothing bad to say about it.
minus the ? of penetration it looks like it got the job done. probs to him for doing work.+1 to cheap weld els... im sick of this 7-10 dollars a piece garbage...
Not so much actually... i did all the work myself and shopped around for all my parts so you would be shocked at how small of a budget this car was build on. :)GARAGE BUILD FTW :)
thanks for the nice comments, there always appreciated.sorry for the slow updated recently. working on a bunch of other peoples cars for a big race coming up but should have some progress in the next month or so.
yeah for sure. the built auto trans i got has a welded diff already so i could easily do that but i would much rather prefer an awd dyno for true numbers.but to just test the manifold obviously it wouldn't matter.
Thanks fellers for the compliments and input. Im totally happy with it weather it makes more power or not. :)Sadly the car is still ###### 2 or 3 weeks out from being running.I will deff post up pics an running videos as well as try and get a log or two up.The nearest AWD dyno is 3...
thats awesome. i was had been curious about welding copper as well.there are deff tons of reasons with these cars where welding copper could be helpful.
got a little update. been sick for over 2 weeks and finally am feeling better so i got some garage time finallllllyyyyyy....rebuilt my axles (they needed new boots bad)worked on the wiring a bit... got axles in, hoses ran, stuff hooked up :)got the hot side boost pipe done. its very...
DUN DUN DUHHHHHH...got the manifold finished up, wastegate flange added...adapter pipe with wategate flangeand got the downpipe done...then started my oil drain... i know its funny looking but i wanted to keep it metal for a bit so the head from the manifold doesn't melt it.
welp pulled an all nighter last night and knocked out my manifold FINALLY....the raw goodsall tacked together....all welded up...some weld close ups :)Also... got my shifter mounted for the auto.... it feels so weird sitting in the car and looking down to see...
i had an aftermarket dejon intake manifold on it already but i wanted to build my own just for fun but i didn't feel like spending 150 bucks just for an intake manifold flange then another 1-200 in materials to do it the way i would have wanted...instead i chopped my stock one that was laying...
thanks for the complements fellers.Yeah this car has been through many of phases and i never planed for it to be as crazy as it is now but thats how it always happens.I think the combo of auto, 6262 and everything else is gonna make for a really fun car on the street or strip.
hahaha. thanks man.yeah when i get back home (on vacation now) i will snap a ton of pics from various angles so you can see it all and if you made the same thing or any variation of it i would not be upset in any color. i would be flaterred :).there are deff a couple areas i would change or...
haha thanks fellers... yeah its deff a funky monstrosity but i tried to be pretty air flow consious when building it, there are no sharp turns or constrictions in it and everything is smoothed and tapered inside.the plenum volume is pretty huge but the runner length is very short so it might...
so this was my first project in aluminum. i welded a couple of test pieces of aluminum to try and get the feel for it and then dived in with both feet :)its for a 4g63 and i know manifold arent that expensive but i wanted to make my own and i did it weirdly and most wont like it but i like...
oh it penetrated all right, no doubt about that but just to be sure i welded it inside and out so it will be fine for sure.i weld 1/4 ss at work almost everyday that has to be water tight and hold 400 gallons of water weight and pressure.gas lense and back gassing would have just made it...
been fabbing for a while but never made a collector before so i figured why not give it a shot.disclaimer - didn't have a gas lense and forgot to back purge :)
stared on my manifold but all i have pics of is the collector i made...gave up on the rest till after christmas then im gonna hit it hard and see if i can get this pile going.
