Reach your hand under the dash on the drivers side and see if there is any fluid on the clutch master cylinder boot. If there is any, you may have a leak. May not be real low on fluid but it can suck air into the system and create a similar problem.
I must talk about my dilemma... I don't know who else to turn to. I use my 90' eagle talon tsi as a DD. As many of you know they are not exactly the most reliable vehicles. I no longer have the option to borrow cars or get rides to work in a no-vehicle situation. So, regrettably I'm considering...
Hopefully this will be easily answered... I removed my emission controls and changed my vacuum line set-up. My question is: I do not have an egr block-off plate, should i just run vacuum lines from the two nipples on the egr valve to the throttle body?
Im going to guess that the tranny is junk and he's just saying that to ease your mind. If you buy It, I'd go into it expecting to replace the transmission. But, 900$ still isn't too bad...
Ive never done the dye thing myself I've pretty much never used a/c on any car ive ever owned lol. I'm sure a good question is how much $. I tend to go the cheap route lol.
I wouldn't, sometimes silicone can come loose and go place you don't want it to. Same thing with teflon tape, i've seen people use it on transmissions and it ruined their week lol. Then I get a good twenty minutes of rubbing it in their face "why would you even use that on compression fittings...
LOL okay I read this when it was first posted and really didn't feel like reading the 7 pages.... but has he even taken her out yet? It's been almost a month. Hell my brother is 27 and started dating a 17 year old it went good for him, she is 18 now but that's besides the point. I say go for it...
Okay, Is it obviously coming from that spot? If so you could try pulling that plate with the o-rings off and take a sanding block to the front of it to make sure it is flat. Maybe take like .001" off with the sanding make sure where the o-rings lay in there is nice and clean take a little oil to...
I'm thinking it could be your slave cylinder. Pull the boot back to see if it is leaking. I know when I had one go out on my mazda I could hardly get it into gear for awhile got harder and harder until it just didn't happen. The burning smell is probably your clutch slipping either from it not...
Head gasket is like 60$ and if you've never changed one before your in for a learning experience. Probably a 5-6 hour job for someone who isn't sure what to do. Go get a service manual and follow the directions and you should do fine.
When catalytic converters go bad they tend to smell like that, it is possible to smell it inside even if your windows are closed. Take the cat out its probably empty. The smoke could be entirely unrelated, However, you could be burning all your cat guts out. If you are burning oil that could...
If it smells kinda sweet, like antifreeze. That is usually a bad heater core... though I'm not sure if it will smell anymore last i heard they changed it a bit so it didn't smell/taste like something the should be ingested lol.
I'm not sure if this has been covered or not. But, in regards to porting out the oil filter housing would it not be easier to toss on another crush washer on the piston assembly? That way there is less tension on the spring allowing the valve to open easier? instead of removing the whole housing...
lol a bad bad fuel filter can. So can a bad fuel pump, FPR. A lot of things, I always start with the cheap/obvious when I troubleshoot. I like to work my way up to the headaches rather than start one for no reason. I'd say a bad ground/wiring the pump wouldn't work at all. Well if its not badly...
Here is something that may help it has the manual for the electrical system for you car.
http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/frequently-answered-dsm-questions/344490-download-1g-service-manuals.html. Now the pictures of the wires in the drivers compartment are they all going to your gauge pod? Or...
Screw the ebay guy... call SB international. They deal with cylinder head parts and you can just request the same setup and save some money. They have a distribution center in Phily. That's probably where he got the parts in the first place. Thats where I've always gotten my parts. Why pay the...
The bronze valve guides are harder and dissipate heat better. I think on these particular cylinder heads they have to do extra machine work to install the proper guides which have a large outer diameter. In order to install the over-sized valves additional machine work will also have to be done...
113,806 until balance shaft belt broke and ruined my year... Misterbeechy if its not your turbo, then valves seals could be junk. A lot of times if you give it gas and let off driving or not they'll do that.
So, I've read posts about people who remove their balance shafts and complain about high oil pressure. My questions is... what is the problem with 90 psi? I've been working on small blocks and older engines where I'd be happy to have 80 psi on a performance engine. So what is the concern? Maybe...
Fix your transmission! lol I wouldn't even drive it. Other than that did you try checking for excessive end play in your turbo? If the sound seems to correlate with turbo spool, that would be my first check.
I'm an Ex-cylinder head machinist, I got laid off May 09'. I now work at the YMCA cleaning locker rooms lol. I also am going to school full time to get my BS in biology, I'm almost done!
Yeah the classifieds are the way to go! If you want any help working on your stuff I'm in the area and am bored quite often. In the process of a build myself and waiting on funds to continue my build. I'd Offer you my car but i want to drive it! lol.
210* Is a pretty acceptable temp... Id say check your thermostat. Also, you said you took the head off and no apparent coolant leaks? Also, try getting a different temp sending unit?
That's what I'm talking about! lol how much would you take for the hanger? As far as replacing the studs... I think im gonna try and grind the nuts off to avoid such a situation, but in case I do need to replace them I'll definitely PM you!
Yeah, actually the nuts were so rusted not a single socket size i have will fit them. I could pound on undersized socket on them but I'd rather do it in a more professional way. Also, the fitting will not come off the fuel line, I put a back up wrench on it but it will slip off or break the pipe...
I am in the process of removing my old fuel pump to install a new walbro 255. However, It is not coming out without totally destroying the old pump hanger and possibly the studs. Iowa winters are hard on cars. I was wondering if it is possible to get a new single pump hanger or if anyone has a...
