If we are talking about Jeff's "dsmchips" chip,
Then when you turn the key to the "on" position, youre boost gauge will go to the last positon that you set your stutter to.(which is one of the notches on the stock boost gauge. Keep in mind the car is still off. Every time you tap the gas...
i run the 680cc as well....and i have been told to treat them as 650cc instead because the rating for x80cc's are based on a higher pressure. At our car's pres, they flow like x50cc's.
food for thought
I dont think the question was "What kind of oil do i need?" WTF People are allowed to have questions. If you don't want to reply because you believe it to be a "newb" post, then don't. These sites are supposed to be a source of info, not somebody saying im too advanced for this.
BTW- Thankx...
Bank one is the one in front. I think maybe you are misreading your log? maybe? 98 probably means you are too rich, try leaning it up some ( alittle at a time) and see if that will smooth things out.
The short changes with o2 readings and if the difference between the short and long lasts long enough ,....eventually the long will adjust. It just doesnt change that fast. So adjust some and drive a day and then adjust some ore...etc

You could be too rich or too lean where you see timing not increase after 4100. While o2 doesnt show alot, it should give you the answer to the rich/lean issue(extremes). Find out which one and add a few % or vice versa until the timing increases steadily. Not perfect tuning but it will get...
Want to reduce lag?.......downshift. :thumb:
Lag is overrated.(period)
I have a pte scm50 and if i would have quit reading these threads written by people that either have never run a larger turbo or cant tune, then i would have never gotten a big28 before this 50trim.
Simply put....can you...
Anyone see a problem with this.My wiring leading to my fans is just cut into and nothing attached or grounded.
The high wires from my fans are going to an external relay which is just powered from the battery. Both fans run high all the time.My problem is my a/c will cut on and off...
Im sure there are more professional ways but just slowly increase the boost settings and relog......fix any dips and repeat. You can get an idea of how much boost is possible wiith your fuel setup by searching for what other people run but every car is different.
Good Luck and just take it...
I never said that it was not possible, but in the form that the question was phrased being "easy and 91", i dont think so. Yes after a range of supporting mods and tuning, then sure. I didnt look at his mod list first, and maybe if i had i would have taken his question in a different light...
Didn't mean to hurt your feelings pudding.
First of all, im not into racing from street light to streetlight, so yeah i like this turbo better. I was just trying to give some insight into his decision because i was where he is right now. I bit into this notion of this hideous monster...
"I am by no means trying to sound like an ass, i just hope that people who comment on turbo's and lag, are giving out data from personal experience and not just regurgitating what they have read from somewhere else. Lag of a t28.....too much??? My scm50 hits 21psi of boost by 4K,...who...
I just replaced ny FPBig28 for a SCM50. I was worried about lagging but i actually like that the car doesnt jerk so damn bad like when the 28 spooled up. The difference in power and pull are miles apart. Don't be afraid of bigger turbo's. :thumb:
I will say that the Big 28 did pull much...
Most *80's injectors actually flow more like *50's from what i have heard. But just get intouch with Jeff and im sure he will work with you...great guy.

I just installed my new scm50 and with no mbc installed i am getting about 18psi from the straight connection? Does this mean something is binding or is it possible that these wastgates are set that high from the factory? I had to clock the turbo just a bit to clear an engine mount and the...
Check with Jeff....great guy and more than willing to work with you. Maybe your setup was misunderstood or something. I tested several chips for Jeff and he is an A+ guy and the best person i've EVER dealt with over the internet. :thumb:
Simply put.....
THE BEST INTERNET PERSON I HAVE EVER DEALT WITH.
Jeff is top-notch, very reasonable and helpful. I helped with some testing with him in th early phases....i'm in TN and he is in FL, and absolutely no problems. The chip is in my car now and running great.

I know wrong forum but....I have my ported FP Big28 with 3k on it coming off this weekend. I just bought a scm50 along with my built engine. I will be posting it up next Wednesday or so for sell.
Just an FYI, for those interested. Pm me if interested.
I mounted mine in the glove box with velcro, but i left the cord long enough so i can pull it out and temp stick it beside my radio when i want to tune with it. :thumb:
How about uping your low afc settings in the higher rpm bands(3500-7500) to be more in line with what your highs are at that point. I'm sure your running closer to your lows at that point, because you are off gas. IMO, your lows in those ranges should mimmick your highs, since i never slowly...
I agree with kpt.
The chip already takes care of the correction for the larger injectors. So you should "start" tuning with the settings for the stock 450's(on the maft chart). I say start because most people have to adjust the settings from where the maft chart puts them at. Use it as a...
look in the vfaq.
Basically you would loosen the clutch rod lock nut under the dash, and hand turn the rod so that it screws OUT of the master cylinder. Just a turn or two will make a big difference. Try it a little at a time. Make sure you tighten the nut back.
Just follow the clutch pedal...
I think the safc just takes the higest value that it sees, and calls that wot. It doesnt really know. So it should read 0-100%.
I am just curious if the ecu would act differently if i adjusted my tps to read 100% on the logger? If not, then why bother adjusting it?(given you know it is...
not tryint to hijack thread, but i think this may help him as well.......If you know that say 93% reading for tps DOES correspond to wot (hence tps needs adjusting) Does it really affect the car in any way? Does the ecu act differently because of this?ps. I know his says 97 but mine...
On the back left of the valve cover, pointing right at your throttle body, is the pcv valve. If you removed your hose that leads from it to the intake, the maybe it is vented excess pressure from your valve cover and blowing on your Tb.
Disregard all of this if you have the hose on, obviuosly...
