Engine management FIRST. When I was on a similar setup AFRs up top are down in the high 9's tuning JUST the AFR really helped with top end power and that was before touching the timing. Intake and exhaust manifolds should help as well (they are generally designed for more top end).
If you're really trying to build a track monster, what kind of suspension modifications have you done. 700hp irrelevant of torque plate hone or not is serious overkill for almost any NASA or SCCA class, especially for these cars.Otherwise, that picture is a good representation. The cylinder...
Ya I always charge on the 2A setting. Going to measure the resistance today and if that comes up fine then I will try to see if there some sort of draw on the system like you said
So I went to go test the battery cable thing today and the battery was TOTALLY dead .78V so there is either a massive draw somewhere or my alarm system, which was in it when I bought it is constantly going off. Could this have been the reason all along?
Yes only when I try to crank. The battery is brand new as is the starter. I have a log I could post that will show the battery voltage as I try to crank. It seems to bounce between 10-12.5 so I assume it's ok. and like I said sometimes it will fire right up.Ill probably get to the coolant...
More news, buzzing coming from the engine bay is from the starter solenoid. Possibly DOA starter? Bad starter relay? Clutch Switch? So I did a log to see where the clutch switch was and it always said 1 and never changed. I dont know if 1 is on or off and what that correlates to in terms of the...
Im just going to ignore this ^ becasue it is in no way related to what we are talking about.and the saga continues...
Got the new relay in from the VR4, installed, everything looks to be the same.First crank, nothing, buzzing coming from engine bay now. Few more turns of the key, same thing...
Wow, thanks for doing all my shopping for me and Jeeeezzzuuuus $110 for a new one? no way^ This sounds exactly like my problem granted I havent run it enough for it to die on me though. I will pull mine, make sure I get the right one then hopefully have one next week some time. Still gotta...
Guess I should clarify. Buzzing is coming from the MPI/MFI relay for sure.Car will start with or without the door lock relay being plugged in. I think the MPI/MFI might not be totally shot but on its last legs. It will start sometimes and not others. I will try again when I get home tongiht...
Sorry, been out of town for my birthdayWell the buzzing is gone now with that relay unplugged, that is totally weird. Do they share a common ground perhaps? I will plug that one back in and try fiddling the MFI/MPI relays today hopefullyBuzzing is definitely coming from that relay. Funny...
It sounds like my car shouldn't be able to start with either of those two things not working. I assume it sees 12v on those pins (12&25) and knows "hey ive got fuel, now I can fire the injectors". With the relay(s) unplugged how does it know its getting fuel, and in turn know to fire the...
I might take you up on that sometime, Not a whole lot of DSM guys down here, especially not ones who know anything. I have a ton of car friends but we all work on the race team together so usually have no time or desire to help with everybody's own projectsSo this is weird, car starts up...
Another update. Pulled the radio and tried to find the source of my noise. Unplugged the large relay on the left (ECU or starter?) she will now crank! So, which relay is that?
Well, it started with an older battery about two weeks ago, with the exact same setup, the only thing I have changed since then is the battery. Before the car was just cranking really slowly. I was only getting about 11.5 volts during cranking so I decided to buy a new battery. It has been just...
Im hoping some one knows what this is right away. Noise is sounds like its coming from behind the ecu by maybe 4". I just got a brand new battery and starter for it if that helps.2012 02 10 13 49 12 733 - YouTube
Dangit! I totally thought this was a noob question and was going to be smartass but if your doing the subframe then youve done your homework.Have you decided on tires? DOT slicks, Race tires, street tires?Car is only as good as its driver! I would recommend getting to a driving school, if...
That definitely wont fit the way it is but think of it this way, you just bought $600 worth of exhaust parts for $200 and if you have the means and the time (which it sounds like you do) then go for gold. Might have to buy a cat it looks like. I would recommend it if your going DD for the noise...
YA at school we used the window weld on our race car s a dampener for the driveshaft but it didnt hold up to the torque and took forever to cure. This stuff is good to go in about 2 days and stood up better in the driveshaft. I was just putting this out there as another option.
each one of these kits runs $33 from mcmaster and you could do all 4 with two kits if you dont mess up lol. so about the same price. I will say that adding the hardening agent is very important so you need a small accurate scale. you can Source one from your local drug dealer...
I wasnt sure where to put this because its not a true write up but i figured I would share my little project.I didnt want to pay 100+ dollars for motor mounts or go through the hassle of burning/pressing the stock ones. My driver side motor mount was completely torn in on spot so I decided...
We use longacre on our FSAE car, its only 500lbs. Getting the pads level is the most important part IMO. I would suggest ramps for sure we have a sset and they are very nice to have, just roll it on and off.Flash, do you work for 3R?
Porsche 914! it would be about 200lbs heavier but still only 2300 lbs MAX. with a 16g and some other bolt ons that thing would be a riot with 300HP.I also really like the transplant into a fox body, its a total F U.
I have tein super streets. All that adjustability is just marketing BS anyway. Unless you have damper plots you can do all the knob twisting you want its a total shot in the dark. I bought the teins becassue I can get custom spring rates for cheap. I got mine for 600 used. Lowering the CG and...
could the low airflow number be from the altitude? im at 5000ft? what could cause the tps volts to be low, adjusted improperly? I have it set to 0% at idle and 95% at wot
Hey guys I need some help figuring out why my car wont idle. A couple days ago I had the thing idling smooth but at about 1200-1300rpm. I have delta 274's so Im only shooting for idle to be about 1000-1100. At that point I figured I had a vacuum leak of some kind because the AFR was perfect but...
Diesel trucks. TONS of them around here, lots of fast ones too. Ive never had anybody try to race me.
Back when our cars came out id ay the biggest competitor was the mustang or the 300zx but the 300zx was more in the price range of the 3kgt. I always like to compare myself to the corvette, its...
You list a lot of things that arent really worth anything to anybody. Persosnally I probably wouldnt be intersted in it at all given the mismatched body that needs paint. I'd say $2500 theres not enought worthwhile parts to make up for the lack of body work/paint neededwhat are these exactly...
The log with the maf plugged in has considerably higher timing, the non maf idle actually has negative timing??Any thoughts on what could cause this? I still cant tell if its the fuel or timing that's my issue
I will try to make some new logs tonight. stay tunedOn my last log today I was getting -71* as an IAT value, isnt that a symptom of a bad maf? Here are the new logs. IAT looked normal and the MAF itself physically looks fine. It smells really lean so im guessing I jut need to get the exhaust...
So after doing a HG and doing a few other upgrades went to start the car. car started right up with the mas unplugged but ran like poop. Some changes i've made: 1G CAS, wired in the wideband simulation from my o2, 274 degree cams, and vacuum lines eliminated via the taboo diagram.Since i...
You may grow out of it but youll be a more capable rider your whole life. at 5'8" and 165lb I thought the GSX-r was the most comfortable followed by the honda and the yamaha was really uncomfortable. havent ridden the other 600's and They were all 08's. Kawi really stepped up their game with the...
^ you might have to put it farther back if thats the highest temp theyre rated for. I run mine after where the cat used to be and they seem to last a a year for me.
you dont get a say because you cant spell disgraceI saw one the other day that was priceless it was (in pictures) turbo = Panties dropsorry I dont have a picture :(
Eh ignorance is ignorance. I really just cant stand the hyundai stuff, mostly based on the fact that i feel they just copy other car makers' designs but W/E. I honestly think that everything has its place. As usual everyone always talks about fast like its in a straight line. I think a honda...
I wouldn't buy them from anybody who calls them "mags" I sucked it up and bought the exact rims and tires I wanted. Expensive but I got exactly what I wanted.
^ this is an extremely good point. If you are sure you know this is what you want to with your car go in steps. Every time you change something its going to affect something else. I would say do the brakes and a helmet, those stock brake pads are not up to even medium duty track use. I was...
Tein is made by an independent company, I would trust marti on the rest of those associations because he sells the product. Dont forget tein has three off the shelf coilover suspensions and you can custom order anything you want basically if you've got the money.
You should be able to run more boost, even on pump gas. Reading your profile, you could get a SMIM and I know you said didnt want to upgrade the exhaust mani but you can find a cast FP mani for pretty cheap used. Theyre not even that expensive new.
What did you do to try to max the power of that turbo, a phone call doesn't count. I dont even think that 18lbs is pushing that turbo considering a E3 16G is really happy at 21lb and thats using a less efficient compressor wheel than the HTA (correct me here justin).Secondly although we will...
