Warning, I'm ranting...I bought a whole slew of parts to build my newly bought 91 talon back in Jan 2010 immediately after returning from a deployment. First set to be installed was struts, balls joints, tie rods, and a new xtd stage clutch.I replaced everything recommended. Clutch...
It is in right now. I replaced my clutch with a xtd stage 4 about a year ago... I replaced the clutch, pp, pivot ball, release fork, oem tob, and friction surface on the aluminum fw. I rebuilt the slave, and inspected the master, both are definitely good. The slave moves almost to the point...
I am trying to troubleshoot my clutch problem, so I would like to buy a very cheap clutch and 6 bolt flywheel. They must be in previously working order obviously, and not so worn that they wont work again. Stock preferred...
Nope I saw no signs of wear other than some scratches on the paint from trying to fight the tranny back in. New OEM TOB, new clip, and yes they are installed properly. I paid a lot of attention when I took it apart to ensure I knew how it went back.
Yes to both. The slave seems to be giving a pretty decent amount of movement. Probably about an inch. When I pulled it all apart I double checked to make sure it wasnt in backwards. It only goes in one way...
I replaced the clutch, pivot ball, tob, fork, put a new friction surface on my aluminum flywheel, and rebuild the slave. Ever since then it will not disengage. I have bleed it a million times, adjusted the master all the way out, and even took it all apart to reinspect for issues and put it a...
Hello,I have had my 91 Talon TSI in the Peterson AFB auto shop forever now, and need to get it running and out. I installed a new clutch and can not get it to disengage for the life of me. I am fairly knowledgeable, but between me, a dsm friend, and the staff at the autoshop we still can...
Just had a thought. I never saw or read anything about this so I don't think its so. The clutch isnt vacuum assisted in some way is it? I have horrible vacuum leaks everywhere, and was going to work on these as soon as I was finish with this part of the project. I didn't think they could...
Nope, old clutch smelled like it was burning a little, and I just wanted an upgrade. The springs were fine, but the street disk looked a little chewed up. The clutch in there now is an unsprung 6 puck. I will have to take a look when I can, but it seemed while I was under there that it moved...
Hello,
I have been fighting with a new clutch install for quite a while now on my 91 Talon AWD. I finally get everything together and the clutch will not disengage at all. I have changed to a new 6 puck unsprung, new OEM tob, fork, ball, clip, rebuilt slave. The fork seems to be in the...
Hey everyone. I just moved to Peterson AFB which is in Colorado Springs for those who don't know. I brought my car in on a trailer because I could not get the transmission back in to save my life. It seems to be getting hung up on either the clutch or the firewall, probably both. I have it...
I am moving my car across country on a trailer. I did not have time to finish it up unfortunately, due to a major hiccup or two I had problems overcoming. I am going to reinstall a few old parts and leave others off completely if it will be safe until I reach my new destination. Here is the...
I got the two top bolts started, pins on both sides of the tranny are no where near. I have about a 1" gap at the top, and 1.5" at the bottom if not more. I dont see it hanging up on anything, or hear metal clinking together, though I could just be missing something. What am I doing wrong, or...
I just wanted to know if it is ok to just get one from Autozone, or Oriellys? Or should I spend the extra and get an OEM. My budget ran out a long time ago, so I would like to go as cheap as possible, but its not worth it if I have to tear it all apart again later...
Here is an update. I got the tranny free. Apparently it was hung up on one of the pins shown here in the bottom right, and top left. The metal gasket looking thing broke free from the tranny on the top side, and free from the engine on the bottom. Once I pried it out the tranny came out with...
Yes I removed both axles and the transfer case, and have followed the vfaq for most of the job. I also removed the center bearing that is in between the driver cv, and intermediate shaft. What is puzzling me is that everything else came off fairly easily. I removed the pass axle with just a...
2 parts won't separate like they should. First I'm changing the drivers cv shaft. The cv shaft will not separate from the intermiate shaft. I have used a pry bar in a circular pattern and it only bunged a mm. Second I can't get the tranny to fully separate. It seems to be stuck at the top...
Seems like a simple question that has been answered a million times, but I can not seem to find it anywhere. What is the intake size, at the turbo on a e16g? Just trying to buy the right coupler, and I am away from the car so I can not measure. I'm fairly sure it is 2.25" ID...
Thanks guys. I plan on resurfacing. How much do you have to tear apart to replace the master and slave cylinders if I do not change them and they go out? They are pretty pricey, and I am already at the edge of my budget. Will they cause damage to anything?
I have read some of the vFAQs, and have a haynes manual and service manuals. They are at home though, and I am trying to assemble the parts needed so its waiting on my return. Really I have no choice but to do this all at one, well at least the front end stuff and the clutch. You have to tear...
I am currently in Iraq, but will be home in a few weeks. I have been ordering parts here and there, but the bulk majority will be ordered in the next week or so. I have never done any of these jobs before, and plan on tackling them all at once seeing they are all interelated. I could use any...
What size T-Bolt clamps do I need at the stock IC? I have a bad boost leak, and can't find this basic info anywhere... Pretty sure its 2.25, but isnt that the ID of the pipe? What T-Bolt would accommodate that? While I'm at it, what size is the inlet on a 16g? Also 2.25?
Im in Iraq so my Christmas will happen when I return. For the time being..I got a Sears gift card a few days early. With it I bought... All Craftsman
2 1/4 ton floor jack
2 sets of 3 ton high lift jack stands
10-75lb 3/8" torque wrench
18 piece screwdriver set (I lose screwdrivers...
I want to make a nice cheap custom intake. I already have a 3" K&N, and will be running speed density, so a recirc tube or MAS is not needed. So basically I need a very simple 3" pipe. What would be the easiest/cheapest way possible, while still maintaining performance, and at least a...
Hello everyone,
I am deployed right now, and having major issues back home. My 2003 Ford F150 just threw a CEL, and is running very sluggishly. It threw a code p0304, which is a total failure to fire on cylinder #4. From what I read, it is usually just a bad plug, plug wire, or coil. We are...
I am fairly certain it is the pro kit. I didnt buy them, and dont know how to tell the difference by looks. Regardless, some have success, many have failures. I want a sure thing! (or as close as you can get to a sure thing). Has anyone ever gone back to stock springs after having Eibach? I...
I just picked up a new front pair of KYB AGXs to replace my blown ones, most definately caused by my Eibach springs. What are some springs that will save me from this happening again? I am even open to going back to stock if need be!
My biggest concern with this new vaccine is the mercury content. Not a big deal to adults or even older kids, but who really knows if it causes autism in young kids or not... My 2yo daughter is sick with the flu right now; we are waiting on the h1n1 test to come back in.
That is what I was watching, the o2 trim. It bounced around about 10-20%. The last time I tried tuning the trims, I used that trim exclusively, and just got the 02 trim so it was jumping above and below 100% equally.
Thank you for the kind words. No I do not, but it is a high priority after I repair some much needed steering and suspension parts. From what I did find in my search I thought that might be the problem, but it does jump all over the place (20% swing on the o2 value of the log), which I thought...
