Yeah dude, I remember lol. I wish I would have seen your 1g but there's no way you were fitting all that gear in there.
This being my first year I was pretty unorganized. There was so much to see, so many people to meet, I felt like a kid at Disney Land.
Hopefully next year I'll slow it down...
What time is the best time to get there? I noticed you can buy spectator tickets at Buschur instead of at the gate. I'm guessing to reduce traffic coming into the event. Since this will be my first time, I'm just trying to plan ahead best I can with everything. I also plan to bring a cooler with...
Ill be there Fri to Sat, driving home at some point to go to another event on Sunday back home. I'm still researching the area to see where I'm going to stay. I'm looking forward to it
Thanks for clearing that up. I bought my first DSM in 09 and never realized how close the event was to Pittsburgh until recently. I definitely want to check it out
Any body ever camp there? I'm thinking about coming for the first time and was thinking about camping out in a tent on the grounds. If not, maybe I'll look into rooms.
I'm glad someone with plenty of skills and dedication is continuing this build (compliment). I'd be waaay over my head no matter what the starting price was. Keep up the awesome work!
Pittsburgh has a meet April 7th in the waterfront (next week). Ill be down there but I dont drive a Dsm anymore. Id like to see some down there though.
Is that a 1g thing? Its been a while so Im trying to remember. I believe when my talon was stock, it had a radiator, smic, auto tranny cooler, and a bar infront of the radiator which I would think was for oil but for some reason memory tells me it was for the power steering.
I dont remember any...
There are very few places oil and coolant can exchange with each other. Headgasket is definetly one of them. And you dont need to overheat to have a bad headgasket because a headgasket can fail in multiple ways..
If the headgasket leaks on the outside, you will leak fluid.
If the headgasket...
I havent checked the dsm forums since I lost my talon but I think everyone is forgetting that the dsm has 2 temp sensors. The ECU reads off the lower sensor after the rad. The gauge reads off the sensor before the radiator. If both sensors are reading correctly (obviously a sensor could be bad)...
So my cars still sitting in front of my house and I get to look at it everyday before I leave for work. I was wondering. What are the chances I could pull the engine, bore it out, and replace with oversized pistons? I know there are a boat load of things that could be wrong with it but just...
Yeah sorry guys. Im pretty sure this means the end to my dsm. It was my daily and I have no where in the city to keep a car with a blown motor. Im hoping I can get a parking pass for it and hope I have enough time to tear off all my aftermarket parts.
Zero compression across the board. Tested tester on dads truck and it read fine. Even added some oil to the cylinder 4 to see if it did anything and it did not :(
^Yeah, Im still mixed. Basically even if its bad compression, I dont think thats enough of an issue that the engine wont even stumble to start. I currently cant get it to run so idling is still an issue. I need to test the compression and if its bad then the motors trash. If its good then I need...
I have one -_-
When I started to notice my engine issue, I paid too much attention to the wideband. No, the engine didnt even have time to heat up once I left the movies.
When I get home I am going to do a compression check. Im starting to think that I melted the internals while driving it so my compression will read terrible.
I should have stopped, it was during the northeast snow storm, and I was on a date so looking under my low ass car was something that...
I hit a big brick in the road and it was big enough for my car to lift up onto two wheels. I drove another mile. Ate dinner. Drove a couple hundred feet to a movie theater. Watched the movie. And on the way home, my car just stalled while driving half a mile out. It then started right back up...
Turns out after checking spark and fuel. I looked underneath my car And my oil pan is broke. Thanks pgh for letting a piece of an overpass lay on the highway. I guess I need to look into buying and installing a new oilpan. Thanks for all your input.
I meant when I was installing my afpr. Pulled the engine fuse and cranked the engine on the stock regulator to relieve the fuel rail pressure. The two noises were the same. Can the fp be bad and the afpr still read fuel pressure?
Long story short. Last night I was driving. Car stalled and wouldn't start. Cranked fine but wouldn't start. Sounds the same as when you pull the engine fuse to relieve fuel pressure. The problem is my afpr still said I had like 40psi. For some reason I still think its fuel. My question is when...
I know this thread is old as dirt, but my transmission has similar symptoms. When I get on the throttle it will downshift, when Im rolling to a stop, it will down shift.
But when Im going up a hill, it tries its hardest not to downshift. Is there something on this cars that controls downshift...
Damn tuners. You are good. I know this post is old as hell but it helped me fix my tail light problem. This site is one of the largest databases on the web! Can find anything on here!
No body is arguing that D has different gearing then L & 2 but it seems that the automatic transmission shifts waay to early in city driving. I think at low throttle, I shift all the way to 3rd gear before 1800 rpm.
Not to revive the oldest thread but no one has answered why the L & 2 have much more power then D. My 2g almost feels like empty horsepower in drive (low throttle). When in L (same throttle) the car has much more torque.
When flooring it, I dont know if there is a difference but city driving it...
I ran into this problem when trying to figure out where to mount my sender. Then it came it me.
Our auto tranny coolers have no fan unless its aftermarket. This means there is no air flowing (or very little) through the cooler at idle.
Since no cooling occurs at idle, the temp gauge will rise...
For those of us with an aftermarket transmission temp gauge, what temps are you seeing regularly? Whats the hottest you have seen?I have my temp sensor mounted post cooler so if you have one, post where it is located as Im sure temperatures will change relative to location.
Thanks for clearing things up. Im a mechanical engineer so it all makes sense. Ive never dug into the caliper in much detail. Due to time restraints, I am going to advanced auto to buy a rebuilt caliper. The caliper is 55 bucks after I give them my core. They look very easy to rebuild but I...
I am battling a sticking caliper issue. I replaced the caliper with another used one and the caliper is still stuck.
I removed the caliper (which was seized on the rotor) and I pumped the brakes to see what the calipers were actually doing.
The attached photo shows only one piston coming out...
Im having this exact same problem. Ive narrowed it down to a few things.
I have New aluminum radiator, new hoses, new tstat, new cap, new headgasket, not pushing coolant.I have ducting from the fmic to the rad only on the sides but the bottom is open so I may enclose that for more flow to...
I agree, use a multi on the battery. As for the alternator, get one from pepboys. They are known to fail but with a lifetime warrenty, you can just keep getting new ones :). And they arent expensive.
:/ Hmm,
Usually when the alt goes out it throws out 3 lights (battery , temp, brake I think cant remember)
If the volt regulator goes out, your car can still run just will over charge the batter, dont think thats the issue either.
If the car cranks and starts, then I dont think the battery...
