you can run 15psi safely on a stock motor, the lag wont be all that bad but it will really free up your top end. Are you running a FMIC? I was running a stock 6 bolt with RC550 injectors and an EVO 3 big 16g running 23psi walbro 255 and a tune and made 350 brake HP. The only issue at this point...
Let us know if that fixed your issue. Also for reference, just because and alternator is putting out high 13 to 14 volts does not mean that it is working correctly, voltage is no where near as much of an indicator as amperage. IF you still have a problem after you fix the terminal then you may...
OK air coming from the crank case or dipstick in your case is usually (on a good motor meaning good compression) is a bad PCV valve. There is a vac line that runs from the intake manifold to the valve cover with a metal valve that goes into the cover. There is a spring and check ball in this...
After it sitting for 3 years you need to lubricate the cylinders before you turn the motor over. I would drop some oil down the plug holes and the rotate the motor over by hand a couple times. If the motor was not fogged before it was shut down then corrosion and rust can build up in the...
It will not throw a CEL, i dont use my stock gauge or sending unit. Honestly the stock gauge really doesnt tell you anything other than you have pressure. If you are doing any performance work or are running the car hard then an aftermarket gauge is the only way to go. Id much rather know...
AS far as the timing mark on the crank goes i never use it. I am a certified technician and have been building motors for years and have seena quite a few where the marks dont line up correctly. The best way to set TDC is to do it by eye.i either use a wooden dowel painted a bright color or a...
Did you switch the injector pins in the ECU harness did you swap the firing order or if you didnt swap the firing order then did you switch the two wires on the coil pack for the inverted cam signal? I did this swap about two years ago
Thanks i know how to clean them. Im just trying to see if anyone has had this issue because it almost sounds like rod knock. I built the bottom of the motor about 10k ago with all mitsu parts and king race bearings so im kind of doubting its a rod.
I have a knocking sound that seems to possibly be coming from my head when i rev a little over 2k. Im wondering if a stuck or collapsed lifter might be the problem. If i drive it for a little bit and get the oil pressure up it becomes much less apparent. Just curious if it could be clogged and...
You need to make sure that your motor gets up to full operating temp!! It is actually very hard on your motor to run low temperatures. Your internals will wear and fail at a highly accelerated rate.
ok yeah i saw the TSB on alldata. Not too sure where all the vent limes are but il try it. You think that vent line that went to the charcoal canister may have something to do with it?
So i 6 bolt swapped my 95 talon AWD and i eliminated the charcoal canister and all that emissions BS. For some reason the fuel system is not pulling fuel out of the drivers side tank. I know this because i pulled the sending unit off of both sides of the tank and the fuel pump side is almost...
Im wondering if 1g RC 550 injectors will work on a 2g ecu. Im not sure if the impedance is the same between the generations. If anyone has this info it will be greatly appreciated!
That is very very odd. with the way a transaxle is set up if you are able to get it into gear whithout the car running then with it running even if the clutch is messed up it still should grind the teeth on the syncro ring in the syncro assembly. Sometimes when shifting whith the car turned off...
do NOT eliminate your PCV valve and try to run the catch can between the VC breather and tie it back into your intake tract, before the turbo. This VC venting system is there for a reason and you need to maintain it! When your car is running under vac the PCV valve is open and is pulling air...
Check to make sure that your slave cylinder is working. Did you check the clutch pedal freeplay? It is possible that your disc is not being dissengaged all the way. Is all your shift linkage tight?
No a wide band is my next purchase. Its just odd though cause i had this motor in a 91 with eprom ecu 550 injectors 225 pump big 16g 20lbs and a SAFC and when i hit full boost it would read right in stoich. Yeah optimal A/F mix is 14:1 Im just gonna cal it a wash untill i get my wideband my...
This test was at more than 5 psi but i will do a more thorough leak down lest on it tomorrow if i can find the right tools in the shop to do so. It is hard to diagnose stuff like this when the shop is not equipped to work on turboed cars
Ok i have a 95 Talon TSI AWD that i 6Bolt swapped. Car runs great with no issues other than the fact that when i hit full boost (15psi) my A/F reads completely rich.
Yes I know you are going to say that it is a boost leak but i assure you that it is not. I work for Infiniti so i hooked a...
Im currently attending NTI Nascar Technical Institute and if you want to say UTI is a joke then think again. We are building pushrod naturally aspirated V8's that are turning out over 900hp. The principles between a v8 and a I4 are the same other than OHC's depending on the application. I...
What is the end gap measurement if you put your rings down in the cylinders? And you also have to remember that pistons are not round when they are cold, they are actually more of an oval.
I usually let it set for a minute or so but i have only really used it on exhaust gaskets and flanges. IF the copper spray isn't working then pull it back apart clean all the surfaces well and prep it all with alcohol. Then run a small bead of RTV around the flange and spread it out with a clean...
Ok first question. Are those hoses coming out of the intake pipe? (the pipe between your filter and turbo)Second off, Do you have your BOV recirculated back into your intake pipe? You should have a hose that runs from the dump neck on the BOV to the large pipe coming out of the side of your...
You can also take off the motor mount on in front of the cams and put a one of those front bolts through the chain then put a nut on it and it will hold perfectly. I lifted my entire motor and trany together from those two spots
If the injectors are not in the correct firing order then no the car will not start. That is the same situation with the plug wires. The crank signal from the 1g is inverted compared to the 2g. The people that had your car before you may have already re-pinned the ecu but the plugs are just...
Ok that bent rubber piece is a vent tube for the back of your headlight. You probably knocked it off while taking stuff in or out. All it is for is to keep water from getting into your headlight but allows a passage for moisture to exit your light when it is turned on.You spray both sides of...
Easiest way to find out which cylinder isnt firing right is to start it up the individually pull an injector plug wire off. Pull the first one and if it sounds worse then put it back on and move to the next one. When you pull an injector wire and the motor sounds like its running the same or...
#1 Im guessing they pulled the pin out of the 2g throttle position sensor and wired it to work with the 1g idle sensor, which is the one wire sensor that stops the throttle plate. It is on the firewall side of the throttle body and sticks straight up.#2 looks like the knock sensor plug...
the best way i found to keep the cams at TDC when doing timing is to take two wrenches and get the cams lined up with the belt on them but loose at the bottom. Make sure the belt falls into the teeth and then put a zip tie around the belt and through the cam at 9oclock on the exhaust and 3oclock...
You switch the pins in the ecu plug. There on that vfaq write up it tells you which pins you swap. This is if the previous owner hadnt already done it. Check the wire colors before you go pulling stuff.
You re-pin the inector wires at the plug on the ecu and no you keep the ecu you have. Make sure that you have a 2g temp switch in your coolant neck. I hadnt switched out my 1g temp switch and my car was getting fuel and spark but wouldnt start. after spraying it down with starter fluid and...
Put new NGK BKR6ES (I believe that is the correct code) plugs in it and gap them to .28 and also change your plug wires. I had this type of problem happen twice. One time it was the wires. they were arcing off onto the fuel rail and messing up the ignition but only when i was into the car. With...
Did any of you use the nice little button at the top labeled SEARCH?? There is a post on here if you will search that tells you exactly how to diagnose a no start. This article has everything you need.Welcome to the DSM world get used to issues:D
By ICM do you mean the module that your key works?? With your car having a 6bolt swap you do not need the crankshaft or camshaft sensors from the 7bolt. What happens is you use the stock 6bolt cam sensor and wire it into the engine harness. The 6bolt cam sensor sensor will provide the timing...
Do you have a service manual? If not (you should!) then read through this and im pretty sure you will find what you want to know. http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/frequently-answered-dsm-questions/324090-download-2g-service-manual.html
Im running RC 550 injectors with a 255pump safc on eprom ecu big16g 3" full exhaust on 20lbs with 94 octane with my fuel map a little rich and my awd will smoke all 4 tires in 1st no idea what the dyno is. rain is pointless in my car, once i hit 20lbs it will walk sideways on the highway in 3rd...
Its a relay going bad if it shuts off every once in a while and other times it stays on. I did custom audio video for a while and have seen a few relays do this. There is an arm on the relay that is bent normally but is made to flex, so when the relay is off the arm is up and when energized the...
Didnt i just say that heat is what causes the pressure differences??????????I know heat is what drives the pressure differences, that and compression due to the piston. But what im trying to say is the PRESSURE caused by the heat is what pushes the pistons back down and helps drive the...
