94awdcoupe the N/A awd auto has the usual W4A33 on it & W4A32 on the overdrive cover.
The turbo box has W4A33E on the side & the N/A has W4A32EF on it.
Cheers
Check out the 92 Expo yous have over there. Auto with a 3.545 rear. Dunno what tc & front diff is.
I will look at the code on the non turbo auto anchor I have here in the daylight. 1:40am here now.
Maybe tomorrow if I have time. It's not legs for big mph, but it's a great DD. Fuel is not too...
In Jap land they have RVR SG non turbo awd autos. We have a few here in Aus.
They run a non lsd 3.545 rear, 1.074 tc & a 3.8 57/15 front std. Same centre
line measurement as a turbo auto box. But the casing of the box is narrower
to make the starter motor line up with the ring gear on the 3 bolt...
Quaife or Wavetrac front, you can use a 3.8 front diff, 1.074 tc, 3.545 rear with mech rear lsd. Redlines quicker than the 3.307 rear auto setup.
Convertor likes the gearing more, yet it only sits at 50rpm more at 110kph on the freeway compared to a 3.307 setup.
Cheers
You can get the output shaft out by puting a 5/16 rod into the hole & tap it with a hammer.
Take off the end cap & you'll see the hole at the end of the centre diff. Not the 4th cover.
Cheers !
RVR tyre size is 215x65x15 which is quoted as 26" in a tyre book.
My 225x50x17 tyres are quoted as 3/16" less. < Calcs with these tyres.
I posted this as MY real time road test. Show us your figures if you like.
Cheers !
Sounds like your 2nd band is too delayed & is wearing out your 4th. Did you change your
filter last year when your 4th died ? It could be bent or cracked flanges on your 2nd band
& the drum is slipping. Is your car flaring in revs in 2nd ? Does 1st to 2nd bite well ?
I'm guessing your 2nd is...
If you want a quick reving auto with short legs, I can build you a 1g to suit a 3.909 rear diff.
But 4th overdrive will be the same as 4th in a manual. Not so good on gas, but a quick 60 footer.
Cheers !
The Quaife ATB 'QDH8B' LSD fits an Eclipse & all 1G awd autos.
Bolts straight in, runs the std Mitsu bearing size & uses the std 25 spline axles.
No such thing as understeer. You can hit corners much faster than before. No BS
Cheers !
I run a welded centre & a switchable transfer case. Quaife ATB front & viscous rear lsd.
In fwd Quaife atb lsd mode it's an animal, but I gotta say, Love That Car ;-)
If you run a lower front & std rear height, your lift will be less & it won't power steer.
Cheers !
The valve body is inside the auto sump. The O ring is above the VB.
If you didn't touch the auto, then the O ring I'm talking about is ok.
Does the wheels turn in neutral on a hoist with the engine runing ?
If they turn & can be stopped easy, it is ok.
If they are very hard to stop, the...
No reverse is usualy the O ring is missing above your valve body.
If you have drive in N the 1st gear pack plates & clutches are bent
& the forward gearing will lockup.
Cheers !
Custom front gears 55-18 with an RVR 29-27 TC = 2.844827586 to a 2.846153846 rear diff 37-13 < Rear diff from an RVR man N/T
But your 1st take off will be sad & 2nd gear cornering will be way under turbo spool time.
Cheers !
A VR4 1G has a higher ratio planetry gear set. 1st 2.846 - 2nd 1.581
The front diff is 72x20 - 3.6 & the t/c is 24x22 - 1.09090909*
An RVR has a lower ratio planetry gear set. 1st 2.551 - 2nd 1.488
The front diff is 71x20 - 3.55 & the t/c is 29x27 - 1.074074074*
I'm runing VR4 planetries in...
Maurice I tried voting for both w & w/o but it only allows 1 vote even if you visit twice.
I've read your replies & I understand the power pulses of a non square 4 piston engine.
Another factor of the harmonics is, your engine balance is for idle to less than 7k.
You balance your crank etc at...
Alex the air pres going into the actuator only moves the rod 3/8"
DON'T pull the rod further & possably damage the diaphram.
Set it up with a full hole preload where the rod goes on.
You can modify the actuator to stiffen the spring or you can buy
aftermarket actuators with stronger springs...
Number 5 is missing, harmonic balance has died with & withoutout BS.
The BSs are trying to help the HB to cancel the vibrations caused by
a non square motor & all the factory poor average balanced parts.
A push bike has 1 up & 1 down crank/pedals & our crap 4 bangers
have 2 up & 2 down...
Konis are only good for 1yr if ya lucky, & that's with mild springs.
When hard springs rebound, they realy pull the struts up hard.
Rears are allways good a bit firm tho.
I don't know what brands to recomend up there.
Some may disagre, but I prefer hard front struts w reset/lowered
std...
As the_mork posted, a wally feeding a bosch 44 will do.I have a wally feeding a surge tank & 2 bosches feeding each
end of my fuel rail. I welded a bung in the fuel rail centre to
run my automotive fpr from. A bit over the top some will say.
Cheers !
Ok here's a pic of my 2x 12v hair dryers demister setup.
The 90deg folded sheet metal in grey blocks off where the
heater used to mate up to it. The hair dryers have 2 speeds
& both on low speed is very quiet. Weighs bugger all realy.
Cost $14 each from a boat shop.Cheers !
Do you find the size difference between a stock 252inl & 264exh the OP posted stupid ?
Or are you saying mysticj & myself are stupid for mentioning 260/264 ?
264 cams ? Are you saying the 264 Exh Cam has stock spool ? Inlet cam ?
The manual front diff ratio divided by the transfer gearing is not out as much as
in autos. Just run more air pres in the rear tyres if you lock the centre diff.
I'd like to get 25/23 gearing made for my auto transfer case.
It would give me 0.0014155712842558 overdrive at the rears...
+1^ The exh cam would need retarding if you use the 260inl/264exh n/a's
I'm running the 260inl & a regrind hks 264 profile exh < retarded. DD VR4
HKS 264/272 in the Lancer Matt.
Cheers !
SanTa you haven't cut corners with hardware that's for sure !
Are the ACL bearings 3/4 groove ? 3/4 groove ones ware better
on the power stroke. Just a coupla tips from my eng builder, who
preps & rebuilds cranks for the best top fuel dragsters etc in Aus.
The countersunked oiling hole on...
Welcome to the forum Russ (Dad)
The base timing at 850-900rpm is 5deg adjusted at the cas.
If you get an eprom writen with higher timing maps, you are
expected to set the base at 5 at he cas.
If you use a std chip, you can trial & error raise the overall
timing at the cas & road test it...
If you can get the broken critter out & replaced, all the better.
But just to back up my previous statement of 1 missing is ok, my
switchable transfer case on my 1g auto uses only the front 3 bolts
due to the manual mid section can't bolt up to the auto. I'm driving
vlsds each end with 22psi...
I'd say your 4th gear clutches & plates are shagged.
ITP sell an upgraded set or you can buy a std set.
Box doesn't have to come out to replace them. Easy fix.
You may as well do a filter change & new fluid as well.
Cheers !
The engine will require around 6cc of fuel per minute per horsepower.
750cc x 4 = 3000/6 = 500hp @ 100% duty cycle.
Those @ 80% duty cycle = only 400hp
Go bigger injectors.
Cheers !
If the convertor works cold, but slips after heating up, it could have a spun stator/sprag conection. It takes a lot of stalling for more than 8 secs to heat the fluid up to cause them to spin loose. Reving it up in neutral & then pulling it into gear, is a no no. Kills stator/sprags.If the...
If you're not doing a full balance build, you can at least match the rod/piston weights.
All you need is a decent scale & a 4" grinder. You remove unneeded weight from the
pistons in the middle of the arch skirts. With the rods you grind excess off the bottom
of the middle of the caps. After...
Opens about 3/8 as Justin said. Std you need to pull the actuator arm 1/2 a hole to get
the arm onto the pin. If you make the arm a full hole short for preload, it won't hurt it ;)
Cheers !
Yeah 2 rims & sticky tyres devoted for the drags is the go.
But is your front struts cactus & causing your car front to lift too easy ?
Heavy front springs kill the rebound hold of front struts.
Heavy to push/pull struts with 2" lowered std springs are much better.
Also too low & soft at the...
An auto tcu in a turbo & non turbo car have different part numbers.
The bin files in the eproms are different & don't suit swaping.
Your tcu isn't causing your stalling (even if you are in limp mode)
Look elsewhere to find your stalling prob.
Cheers !
I have had a flooding inner spark plug well with oil filling around the plugs.
No oil leaks around the outside. With the plug cover on, I couldn't see why.
I had overtightened the inner bolts to ensure a seal at the plug round seals.
I ran it for several mins with the plug cover off & noticed...
