What mods are done to car? Typically I would say boost leak but that has been done. Sounds like it may be running rich and that could cause it to backfire on decel. More info mods etc would help.
Just because it's fine at idle doesn't necessary mean his thermostat is fine. Don't think because I don't have thirty posts on this forum that I am a newbie. I have owned dsm's for the past ten years.
I agree with you that to be fast it takes money. You will agree with me boost isn't boost. 25lbs on a 16g is a lot different than 25lbs on a hx 40. I guess I just haven't seen as many high power subaru's as I have high hp dsm's. I didn't think the ej came stock with forged internals.I've...
The wrx will never become the next dsm. Too costly to make fast. You really don't see a lot of wrx owners running high boost on stock internals. That is the beauty of the Dsm it was built stout from the factory. I own an 05 wrx anything over 300 whp and kiss second gear goodbye. They are also...
I like the supra denso fuel pump alternative. Look at the flow rates of the pump they are listed Road///Race Engineering Mitsubishi Eclipse Parts and Performance. when is is not rewired you won't need a fpr then when you need to re wire it it will out flow a 255. I ran that exact same setup with...
Sounds pretty normal to me. Why would you want to turn the boost down to ten pounds. You can run 15 on a rewired fuel pump and stock injectors. Its not like 14lbs is going to kill that turbo.
Because it is a good platform to build a pretty fast car, but it takes some knowledge and upkeep. Any idiot can work on a honda. It takes someone with some skill to turn wrench on a dsm.
Have you done a compression test on it. Leakdown would be better. Is the car smoking? If it is burning coolant it should smell sweet and smoke white. No point in just changing the headgasket until your sure that is the problem.
Could be a number of things. like people have stated, lash, excessive play in the driveline, or maybe even a wheel bearing. When was the last time you changed the fluid in the rear diff? Any easy way to check the driveline is to turn it by hand with the car in gear and feel for excessive play.
If everything is adjusted right, slave cylinder and rod. I would say that it is the new clutch. I know that a six puck is pretty harsh it's either in or out. It's usually not the smoothest on take off. That could be the difference.
Have you checked your cas. I had one on its way out wasn't throwing a cell, but was causing the same problems you have described.I also had a short in my wiring where the ecu wasn't getting power. the easy way to tell is if you turn the ignition to the on position and the check engine light...
I can't speak for the pulsar but I do know that if the ride hieght is not changed then the aligment should not change. It would save you 360.00 to change them yourself. How handy are you I would say that if you have any mechanic skill at all it shouldn't be that hard and could probably be...
I would look pillow mount bushing. If your handy you can rent a spring compressor and do the work yourself. It is really easy to change the struts. Last time I had a sqeak it was the bushing and not the strut, but like I said before they are super easy to change in an afternoon if it happens to...
A used motor is always a gamble, but with enough members on here doing six bolt swaps you could probably find a good candidate. As for rebuilding a motor are you going to be doing it yourself? Do you have the ability and knowledge to do it and whats the budget?
You said the car was put back to stock? Does it have aftermarket injectors in it? If it has stock injectors in it then you should zero out the safc that could be your problem. I would rule out boost leak test first. You don't need a compressor to do a boost leak test. I've seen it done with a...
Normally aftermarket cams will specify if they are compatible with stock valve train. Can aftermarket cams mess up your valve train? I'm sure they can. What brand of cam do you have and do you know if they are meant to run on stock valve train, need to be shimmed etc.
I agree with zero counts. I believe you can get away with three to four counts. The bad thing is that with any knock the computer is pulling timing. A 2g stock timing map is crap. You should really shoot for zero knock.
The timing belt is usually a little loose when the car is parked. When it is turning it soaks the tension up. I wouldn't worry about too much unless it seems to be really loose.
95 black is correct. First thing you should do is boost leak test it. The manifold will glow when it is boosted hard. This is not and indication of a warn out turbo. Let us know what the compression test yields. Is the car smoking under acceleration? Does the jerking only happen at wot?
