  1. 420a awd conversion?

Back about 10 years ago when i had my ESI-T this was coming up quite a bit on the forums. Im not sure if one ever got done but there was at least 1 or 2 guys that were actively working on it. I dont remeber all the details now but they were definately using parts from a minivan. The big knock on...
  2. 80 lb/min turbo discussion

The PTE 6765 billet is a pretty nice turbo. I'm not sure right off the top of my head what a/r turbine housings are available or what the exact flow rate is, but it's rated to 900 hp and I know a person who is making more than that with it. Are you still keeping a compound setup or just using...
  3. 6765 first dyno 707whp

I'm glad to see you making these numbers on pump gas. I've been following your build because I just picked on one these turbo's up for my car and was a little nervous it wouldn't make the power I want it to, but my car will be running on alcohol by the time this turbo goes on. I know a guy with...
  4. What is the MOST I'd need a machine shop for?

Most machine shops include disassembly and reassembly of the head in the price to machine/clean it. If you're throwing new valves in, you should probably get the seats redone, or at least lap the new valves. You should at least mic the cylinders before you just throw new pistons in. Do you know...
  5. Post up the best Car Movies that you have seen(NO FNF)

How has Hooper not been mentioned yet?And for the worst car movie ever... 200 MPH. If you haven't seen this movie you must watch it to bask in it's crappiness.
  6. Flashlight drag videos, enjoy

Is that the same Viper that got smoked by an SRT-8 Jeep 3 times in a row? I always thought these looked like a blast. I wish they did them while I still lived in morgantown, maybe then I wouldn't have gotten those street racing tickets while I was growing up.
  7. You might be a racer if... & How well you know your Tools???

I seriously laughed so hard at a few of them I thought I was going to puke.
  8. 4th Annual Northeast DSM Meet- MARK YOUR CALENDARS

Yeah, last years was by far the biggest we've ever had. But I still met some new people and had a great time. I was def a little disappointed by the turnout, it seemed like everyone bailed last minute. I had three evo's say they were coming out and one S2000(it's turbo'd and makes almost 500 WHP...
  9. 4th Annual Northeast DSM Meet- MARK YOUR CALENDARS

I can grab a couple 12 packs of soda. Is any one bringing water? It's going to be pretty effing hot tomorow, maybe I'll grab an extra case anyway.
  10. 1G, Auto, GTX45R, Kiggley, ETS, English, and 40+psi

What did you guys think of the liberty gearbox? Did it hold up well before it broke? A couple honda friends of mine swear by them and they both run 8's with them. And about AEM EMS's, it seems to me the AEM's are a great stand alone for the street, but they don't appear to be the best option if...
  11. Harbor Freight: LIST OF GOOD VS BAD.

GOODI love these plastic rachets, the aren't freezing cold in the winter, the are very fine tooth, and require very little backswing. I persoanlly have all 3 sizes and have never broken one, and I'm a professionally mechanic so I use them every single day for the last 4 years.BadI...
  12. Rebuilt motor, dumb mechanic

I haven't read all three pages of this but I felt the need to express my opinion on top line oil pumps. I put one in my built motor, it lasted 400 miles and blew out. I was in the middle of a pull when I lost all oil pressure. Spun 3 rod bearings and 3 main bearing, trashed the block because of...
  13. New 20g turbo...... No boost

Dumb question, but are you drving the car when there's no boost, or just sitting there revving it? You won't make boost just revving it. I know it may be a dumb question but you would not believe how many people come on the internet freaking out that they have no boost when they free rev their...
  14. Real proof cheap FMICs are better than stock SMIC?

I don't even know why I'm jumping back into this cluster#### but the OP is asking if a cheap FMIC is better than the stock SMIC and I still say it is. As mentioned above, you need to match your intercooler to your goals, but I have never heard of anyone losing power or hurting their performance...
  15. Who all is pushing boost on stock 420a internals?

Yeah, I really loved that car. As far as SFMU's go, it was just whatever one came with the HRC kit. I wish I could have finished that car, I gave the guy that bought it an intake manifold, everything needed to do an 8 injector setup, and a bunch of other stuff. I'd love to know what that car...
  16. 4th Annual Northeast DSM Meet- MARK YOUR CALENDARS

I remember the year a k20 swapped civic came and he said the car was "too fast already" when we told him there was a lot of room for a big turbo.LOL I always roll in with a couple 240 guys but I don't think any of them were talking crap and if they were let me know and I'll put them in their...
  17. Who all is pushing boost on stock 420a internals?

I ran the Hahn kit on a bone stock motor for a long time. Engine held up fine but the tranny blew apart so I had to sell it cause I wasn't going to have time to fix it before I left for school and needed something to drive. Made 205 WHP and 225 WTQ untuned @ 10 psi. Then I put a wideband in it...
  18. what does it take to run 11s for the 420a?

I had a turbo turbo 420a and had about 10 grand invested into it and with about 2 grand into my TSI it was sooo much faster than my 420a. You still have to remember that its a FWD, that means traction issues. The more power you make the more traction problems you're going to have. This guy...
  19. Real proof cheap FMICs are better than stock SMIC?

I'm curious and I don't mean to sound like a dick but have you found a smaller intercooler making more power than a bigger one(air-to-air obviously no water-to-air)? Cause it's always been my experience, granted we are talking about bigger turbo cars here, that bigger intercoolers have always...
  20. Real proof cheap FMICs are better than stock SMIC?

I havent read all the posts, but from my own personal experiance bigger is always better. On saturday we were dyno tuning a car that lost some power since the last time we dyno'd it, and we obviously expected more since we had done a lot more work since then. One thing that changed was the FMIC...
  21. Any idea what is wrong?

Same thing happened to me a couple years ago. I was coming to a red light, pushed clutch in, car stalled and wouldn't restart. Belt had stripped teeth at the crank so it wasn't turning the cams. I put a new belt on, car started right up and drove perfectly fine for over a year until I pulled it...
  22. black ops zombies

Yeah I don't even try playing with people I don't know and even refuse to play with a few people I do know.lol My biggest problem with zombies is that I start to get bored long before we're in any real danger of actually losing legitimately. Last time I played zombies 3 of us went to level 36...
  23. Is running speed density friendly to someone new to tuning?

One thing to remember about a SD setup is that it needs retuned every time you change anything. Whereas a maf setup that actually meters how much air goes into the engine can pretty much self adjust to changes. For example if you make the I/C piping larger, you are suddenly flowing more air, but...
  24. Any Drifters here?

    ka24de-T
  25. 55,000$ into this dsm. wow

Hmm, I have a hard time beleiving this guy has 55,000 into this car unless he really over paid someone to do everything to it, or he's including the purchase price of the car. A 55k claim would be more beleivable if everything was top of the line, but He doesn't even have nice gauges, nothing...
  26. Vacuum line on turbo?

Do you have any line going to the wastegate actuator now? You say you've already installed the 16g and are hitting fuel cut, but if you didn't hook any line up to the wastegate actuator then you are probably running as much boost as the turbo can make. Thats why you're hitting fuel cut.
  27. Anyone go to EVO vs STI day @ E-town?

To be honest I didn't even realize it was this weekend until my roommate asked me why I didn't go. It looks like they combined it with import vs domestic, which I also didn't realize was this weekend. Just wondering if anyone went since I hadn't even heard a whisper about it on any of the...
  28. Comp Cams 272

You might want to think about upgrading the fuel system, as those cams are going to require more fuel. And then comes tuning the new fuel system. And to really put those cams to good use you will want a bigger turbo.
  29. HE351VE, We are for the big...

Damn, you guys put a lot more time and thought into this than we did when we this turbo on on my roomate's Nissan. We just used a wastegate actuator to operate the vanes. Probably wasn't the most "efficient" thing but the car flew with it like that.
  30. Drifter vs Police

On streetfire every one is saying it's for a movie. It does appear one of the cop car tries to move out of the way at one point. Also what are the odds that guy is filming random traffic passing by at just the right place and time. And they had people almost immediatly running out on the street...
  31. Watch this video. I honestly feel sorry for him.

ESPN said this morning that supposedly the Cleveland Cavaliers are going to make him some kind of announcer.
  32. Install Talon rocker and door trim on Eclipse

They should all line up, I currently have an Eclipse passenger door on my Talon with the Talon trim peices installed on it, so I don't see why your car would be different.
  33. Preview to a film I'm making "Garage Tuner"

Only watched the first minute or so cause I'm at work, but it looks awesome. One of my hobbies lately has become making independent short films(mostly car related cause I'm a car guy). We've mostly been spoofing old movies and tv shows since we have access to a lot of old muscle cars, but I've...
  34. hella flush DSM!!!

I thought this was going to be a thread showing off some nice wheel fitment on DSM's:disappointed:. And since when is have proper wheel fitment considered being a ricer? Maybe we don't all think its cool to rock out some pepboys, 17x7 +34 that are sunken battleship so bad you can fit you hed...
  35. .020 Ross piston ring gap

My wisecos came with a sheet that told you how to calculate ring gap. It was something like take the bore size and miltiply it by .xx for turbo cars, or .xx for N/A cars.
  36. being harrased by the cops!!!

I must be the luckiest person ever when it comes to not getting pulled over amd/or getting out of tickets. I've driven cars with open downpipes, straight pipes, dump tube sticking out the front bumper, and never got pulled over for any of that. Even my daily driver right now had an open...
  37. Dealer sold me a sold car

Well, I don't work at a Ford dealership, but I do work at a VW dealership, and I def agree with timmy, they should be able to get you another car comparable to what you agreed on and maybe ask them for something extra for free for the inconvenience. And def be aware of extended warranties...
  38. 4g63 T VW

I work at a VW dealership so I see lots of MK III & IV's come through here trashed and ready for the junk yard and have always thought about snaching one up for a couple hundred bucks and doing this swap. The only main issue I could see it that their engine/trans sit opposite ours(like how an...
  39. good machine shop near philly/ lehigh vally?

We have Bud's in Norristown do all of our motor work. They used to work for Penske Racing, and are some of the smartest guys I've ever met. They are also really straight forward with you, if you ask them to do something that they don't think is nesssacary, they will tell you instead of doing it...
  40. How many people into hardcore/death metal?

Thank you Black Widow for finally mentioning Canibal Corpse, best death metal band IMO. I also see alot of people posting Five Finger Death Punch, and while I like FFDP and even have several of their cd's, I don't think they are considered metal. I never hear any of their stuff on Liquid...
  41. Who here has filled their own blocks?

Hey guys, I'm planning on ordering up some stuf to try and get my engine back together soon, and am planning on doing a filled block with HardBlok, as that is what it seems most of the muscle car guys are running as well as some DSM'ers(including Shep from what I've read). Since this is the...
  42. John Shep piloting a NISSAN!!!!

They are pretty heavy cars, but they also aren't really meant to be drag cars. You put one of those things on a road course though...
  43. Please vote for me for best trick at the Dew Tour!

That was sick! I used to ride BMX back in the day and there is no way in hell I would have even thought of that combo, let alone attempt it. You got my vote and you are now leading by 1%. Good Luck.
  44. Is it siezed??

Your CAS wont keep the engine from turning over. I would recommend pulling the valve cover and checking for bent valves first. Make sure eveything is in time, although if you can't turn the engine over then I'm not sure how to really tell you to do that. You could always try bump starting it if...
  45. 2010 Showdown at Englishtown (Fall)

I can't wait for this, I hope it is as good as last years, it should be even better since it's not going up against The Shootout. Hopefully all the big names are out again this year.
  46. So glad I spent $180 on a 2g install kit and cant even install my turbo wooo

I've never had any problem with slowboy and used to order regularly off them when they were right down the road in PA. Haven't ordered off them since they moved to FL though, but they helped me out alot when I first bought my DSM, even getting me hard to find parts that other venders wouldn't...
  47. I'll just leave this here...

It'd be cooler if it had some big 33"-35" mud tires.
  48. Do DSM's just seem slow nowadays?

I'll start saying I didn't read all 3 pages of responses, but I thought I would share my thoughts on this. I think I understand what the OP is trying to say, there are stock cars now that are running low 13's high 12's and have a lot more creature comforts. And yes that would only take a DSM...
  49. tow hook let me know what you think.

You've totally missed the point of a tow hook. Tow hooks aren't for loading cars on the back of flat beds, they are for quickly dragging a car off the track and back to the pits. And the are REQUIRED by most sanctioning bodies of motorsports. When you build a purpose built race car and start...
  50. tow hook let me know what you think.

Looks cool. :thumb: I've seen this done before, but I always love when guys use whatever they have laying around to make tow hooks. My buddy used the closed end of a huge wrench. As for people saying it's just for looks, I don't know what you want to do with the car but most road race...
