What did you do to your DSM today?

Very Cool indeed! 40F that's gotta feel like spring time though. I lived out near Grand Forks, ND many many years ago and would make trips out to Duluth pretty regularly. Would also go down to Burnsville and Mall of America. Cold, but great memories.

The 14b Drag Race Discussion Thread

Not a lot of activity in this thread these days, so thought I would add something I recently found from when I was actively in the 14b race. Bear in mind the video is from 20+ years ago. But still fun to see and reminisce about those days. I believe I was doing some shakedowns as I was still...

My home station was Yokota, but supported Yokosuka, Atsugi, Kamiseya, Camp Zama, and Camp Fuji. So made those rounds frequently.Oh man, sounds like fun. Could go in for days about all the car stuff and Auto Hobby shop days. I lived at the Yokota one for nearly all the 90s. Still close with all...

Yes Sir! The Talons wheels came of my old van.I modded to interior to accommodate the party, lol. Actually for my kids and for all the travel we did in Japan. In addition to all the engine, suspension work, the interior was a lot of fun too. Removed the center captains chairs, PS One (remember...

Had a few over the many tours I served in Japan. Here are couple of my favorites that I picked up when they debuted in Japan and modified. A supercharged converted to turbocharged Toyota Estima (Previa in America) and a Toyota Celsior (Lexus LS400). Few pics, you'll have to forgive the quality...

A little contribution for this week. Don't think I ever shared these photos before. As most OGs know I bought my Talon new. Then shortly there after Uncle Sam sent me to Japan for an 8 year tour of duty. Put the Talon in storage for those 8 years and these were the photos of me getting it out of...

What did you do to your DSM today?

All 4 of my kids did time in a car seat in the Talon. Even accommodated our collapsible stroller in the hatch. Even when I decided to gut the car in pursuit of a 14b top spot back in the day, the youngest still love to ride along.

Great catch on the B-pillar. Yea, they cut the springs for the show circuit. Crazy to think that when they gave this car to be road tested and reviewed they were putting a car with cut springs through its paces.Todays addition.

Another one for the thread. The X2S at the 88' Chicago auto Show. The one leaning on the car is Gov. Thompson. Whom brought DSM to Normal, Illinois.I always finding myself looking at the subtle differences of this prototype and the production product.1. Stance, significantly lower than our...

I applaud you for all this attention to detail work. I know it’s not easy. I have been wanting to do this level refresh to mine, but she’s been benched for the past 20 years. One day has stretched into many years lol.

This Pic with the Rossi and Archer Talon is gold. Thanks for adding. The FCD does not have to go with the PFC F-Con. The FCD just runs in line from the MAS to the ECU. Basically tricking the ECU and allowing you to adjust the fuel-cut point. So no matter what you did to raise the boost...

Alamo a name I have not heard in some time :)I think its very hard to prove any of us were the first at anything. Anecdotally, a lot of us were getting the news letters, the digest, all the bulletin boards (BBS) in near real time while it was all going on. It was a great time following...

I see your really interested in the HKS stuff so I just went through a couple old folders I had in my office. Found this flyer from HKS from the 1990 Tokyo Auto Salon, which is held the first weekend of every January. So as you can see they already had the PFC F-CON and the EVC as a standard...

Will give just my perspective and first hand accounts of what I witnessed from across the pond at this time. I don't recall exactly when Archer Racing and Wolin Motorsports got their cars. Its out there on the boards though. But, they were part of the first run. This gets us back to the muddiness of the early VINs. VIN: LE000302 -Early H24S - Champagne Car (Pre-Production model) VIN: LE000308 - H24S -...

Vert pics are awesome. The Vert Concept was coded as a H24S pre-production car too. VIN: LE000308 I think everyone has always thought that would have been a great addition to the line up. I can tell the Vert is your favorite. So I'll add that in Europe they had a shop that was producing targas...

In this post I'll touch on your first question1. So the IL Gov got vin #1 DSM in Nov 88. Is that the date it rolled off the assembly line or just when he received it, what is the earliest VIN #?The very first production car to roll off the line at the plant was a red 1990 Mitsubishi...

Welcome to the party! I'm an original DSM owner and still have it. I was in the US Military travelling between Japan and the US from the late 80s up till about 2010. All the while playing with my Talon. I was stationed at Grand Forks ND, for a while which proved to be a blessing. I had the...

The 2.6 from the Starion did seem to makes sense back in the day. They could easily pull that from the Mitsu parts bin and they were even playing with an 4WD Starion. However, there were some other things in play that fortunately all the planets aligned for and we got a derivative of the...

Cool. Thanks for the feedback, was curious. I had built mine for road course right out the gate. So all the suspension components/bits were all upgraded as well as the rotors/calipers. Not really putting a lot of thought into the weight of the rotors. I just needed the greatest stopping power...

I really like that exhaust. I have a Trust exhaust on mine that I bought many many years ago, but the angle is a bit much for my liking. It sits nearly right behind the passenger rear wheel. What model HK$ exhaust is that?

Conducted my annual start-up this weekend. Still sounding good and making me miss daily driving the car. Still my favorite after all these years, mainly for sentimental reasons. I guess also for all the disbelief this little 14b use to cause back in the day.
