No the 4g63 fwd will not work. Look for the Talon ESI (95-98) and Avenger (95-99) as both of these also came with the 420a if you cannot find a Eclipse 420a transmission at the junkyard.

Fix the gasket and get your maintenance done if you havent. Then get some sort of tuning device; I recommend ECMlink regardless if you are on a budget or not. Tune your car with that 14b and take it to its full potential and see how you like it before going bigger. My 2 cent.
