Whats the latest flavour of the month for aluminum rods and what is the advantage of them over the competitors. Its going to be a long rod 2L spinning to about 10k with a 76mm turbo. Iv been looking at R&R and Vader rods but alot of the info on Aluminum rods is over 2 years old now.
I'm running alot more piston to bore clearance because that's what iv found works for 450wkw+ on a mustang dyno. And that's the same reason I run bigger ring gaps. I realise they are file to fit but when they are too big out of the packet there's not much you can do. I'm on the other side of...
Iv done a few STD bore wiesco stroked pistons lately running 4.5tho p to bore and have found the bottom rings are around 28tho ring end gap out of the box. Can I just get rings to suit 20tho over pistons? Or even use the 20thos when I do 10tho over pistons? I want to drop the bottom ring gap to...
I use that style pump on my 2g 7 bolt. A 1995ish mitsubish express van/l300, I think it was a 2L 8v sohc. It did need a few bits trimmed but bolts up fine.
I fixed a fin that got punctured on a koyo, I used the 2 part putty that comes in a tube. Metal knead it I think it was, It was on an evo 9 time attack car and it hasn't leaked yet.
Compound turbo 550whp huge torque and 4th gear clutch dump power skids, this was the good side the other was missing more pucks. It wasn't slipping, just getting impossible to change gears. I would buy again as $ value it was great, just in this abusive application It was the right clutch to...
When I first took mine to the track I had problems with it picking up heat from the manifold, I logged 170F at the top of 4th. I put a longer air intake on and it dropped down to 120F with a track temp of 90F and a front mount intercooler. I think I may of been in an un efficient part of the...
Yeah thats probably a good idea adding the flange for the extra gate now. I was only worried about the 22cm housing because im basically running a similar compressor wheel and cover as viperlp0's Hx52 but his turbine wheel exducer is smaller with a similar sized inducer and a smaller 19cm...
I thought I would revive this thread rather than fill up viperlp01's build Journal. This a quote from the kevin in the other thread that I copied to here---I Am redoing my setup after I lifted my head and had to pull it down anyway and going to transbraked auto. Iv stepped up my small...
Measure the base circle of the cams, they have probably been reground. If so just put some shims under the lifters, keep in mind you may have killed the set of lifters you are using now.
I'm still confused. It has to be the rocker geometry the cams ramp rates are ground to fix, because both intake and exhaust use the same lobe face of the cam to push on the rocker and open the valve. So if the intake opens fast and exhaust opens slow in the DSM and the Evo and you swap the...
Bumping up an old thread. Iv been running my evo 8 272 cams in the same orientation as factory intake/intake exhaust/exhaust. So to get my head around this because the rocker roller doesn't sit directly below the cam and a mirror image on the other side it affects the way it ramps up? So if you...
I was keen to get Delta k272's or k280's but they haven't had any billets to grind them. I've been hitting them up for the past 3.5 months, do king kam have anything around kelford 280 size? Do they have a website cause I couldn't find them on Google.
Any more progress? What size rear housing are you using on the hx52? Im going to step my tdo5/hx40 compound up to a tdo5/hx55 setup and Auto swap soon.
I only just realised the other spring I was comparing to was the dual springs, the website I first checked them on listed them as a single hence the confusion. The only reason I want to use these singles is because I already have a full set of springs and Ti retainers and I don't really have any...
Why would they even make them like that? Why would you want over 0.580"/14.7mm of lift on a single no progressive/ beehive spiring? I see your point about loosing the spring locator when shimming that big. Anyone else got an opinninon about shimming it 0.122"?
Im about to install a set of Manley single valve springs #22125-16 and Ti retainers #23125. Im using a set of kelford 272's and run 40psi @ 8750rpm on an EVO 3 4g63, I was on std evo 9 springs, seats and retainers but think im well overdue for an upgrade. Manly has 2 different part#'s for...
This isn't my first Holset sunshine, I've probably run more boost than you ever will.
23psi might not flow 69lbs on a 2l but on a 4L you might just flow 69lbs at 23psi. Can someone confirm the Y axis is absolute pressure or gauge?
I think you have bigger problems if you foul plugs on E85 even with a 9. I run br8es's with a .029 gap on ls1 coils and have never had any problem at 33psi. It doesnt loose torque or power on the 8's so why would I risk it.
He is running it into the lower right part of the compressor map where efficiency drops right down. The pressure ratio isn't high enough to Max out the compressor on the efficient part of the map.
Dont forget the small turbo makes the same effect as a bigger capacity motor feeding the large turbo so you will need a much bigger rear housing than normally on a 2L. My T3 18cm on my hx40 almost feels to small. I wouldnt want anything smaller at all.
So paul what boost/pr were you running on each turbo for the 47psi and what were you using for boost control and on what wastegate? Also what were your Ignition timing numbers like with the compound compared to just running it as a single?Iv just got my 4g63 (evo4 TDO5HR twinscroll) 16g/hx40...
I'm away for work at the moment so I can't get pics. It looks like who ever made the cam's uses the same blank shaft for dsm's as they use for the evo 8's and drill two dowel pin holes 90degrees apart and blank off one hole and dowel the other to suit what motor its being used for. Yea I might...
Has any noticed that when using the evo ex cam as an ex cam in the dsm that the cam sensor slot will partially open the oil feed hole every 180degrees?I'am using an after market cam but I assume factory ones are the same.
I got a pair of cams a while back from someone who had brought an evo 8 and was told the cams in it were crower 272's. They are not std hollow evo 8 cams but I couldn't find a single cast number or stamped number on them and they both have two dowel pins on each shaft with one blanked off (looks...
I made 300whp on a 7 bolt sohc 4g64 with a stock engine and a reground cam, It was in a mitsubishi L300 van and ran a IHI vf22 @ 20psi with no intercooler and water/meth injection. It was a daily driver and I couldnt kill it even after 1.5years of death.
I was under the impression that with a compound set up you wouldn't flow any more than what the large turbo would flow being a single??1 60mm will flow more than 2 38mm gates.
What boost are you planing to run? (eg total of 40psi with 10psi through the lager turbo). Iv almost finished my compound setup but have no clue on the best way to setup the boost on each turbo.
Im running a custom twin scroll manifold into an Evo 4 twin scroll tdo5 turbo with a single 60mm...
That would be them I think. Thanks for that. I would call up arp but being in a different country and time zones makes it hard, I think ill try email them. Next question is would you use them? They appear to be made from the same material as the studs so I'm just assuming they are just not as...
They are definitely 12 point Arp head bolts. They are stamped arp and came in an arp box that had arp head bolts printed on it. When I'm back form work in 1.5weeks ill get the pics and part number.
Hey iv some how been given Arp head bolts instead of studs. Iam uming and arring about just using them. Its a 7 bolt evo 3 engine going for 550whp with an HX40 pro. would you use them or buy new studs? They look the same as the studs but are just bolts. Does anyone know what to torque these up...
I use an evo 8 crank in my evo 2, got it off a guy building a stroker for his 8 for $150. The best bit is the thrusts are always good because the evo 8 is pull clutch and wears the other thrust side.
Another option is getting one sent over from Newzealand, we dont use ebay we use Trade Me ? New Zealand online auctions and classifieds. Browse, buy and sell online on trademe.co.nz . We have 100 times more evo and jdm parts than Australia, our dollar only =58c US. It would all come down to the...
Not that many in this car, iv seen them do lots and never have a problem. They are similar hardness to nolthathane but not as brittle, some kind of rubber.
For those people on a budget, I used hockey pucks for all four mounts. Cam belt mount and gearbox mount was a press fit for 2 pucks and the other 2 mounts were spun up in the lathe. $1.90 per a puck and i used 8 pucks. lots of 12second launchs later and they are still good.
Project Zero G Forums ~ Index This site has lots of 4g64 info. There are two blocks, narrow block and a wide block. The narrow blocks came out in fwd and awd cars, the wide block came out in rwd vehicles ,the mighty max and L300 vans (dont think your country got these) and these blocks in 2003+...
