Maaan, I've got a 98 tsi fwd sitting in the driveway just wasting away. We don't ever drive it. Ever. Runs just fine. Needs a dent fixed in the rear quarter but it's nice. Brand new rims and rubber, too. Lol. Just never compelled to mess with it.
I still happen to have a Talon TSI sitting in my yard, not doing a damn thing, entirely stock. I've considered picking up a project to work on here and there but I can't get my WS6 to leave my wallet alone.
It's a hell of a fight to figure out where your old car is. It took me 5 years to find Wrex, and I just found her this month right here on the forums in a build journal which was pretty awesome. New owner seems to be taking great care of her and repairing whatever the owner it went to after me...
Oh, that reminds me : Check your thermostat. Make sure it's functioning well and not sticking. Perhaps even drop 5*ish if need be so it doesn't hold the "cool" coolant in the radiator quite as long and cycles a tad bit sooner. Don't do a drastic drop by, say, 30* or something.Hope you get it...
Hey guys~ how's it going?Been a while since I've been around. Since I traded Onyx off to a member here on the forums I've ventured into the big engine world and been working a lot with LS platform builds, but decided I would head back over here to take a peek at the community. Was curious...
Not sure if you've found your issue or not, but considering I've dealt with a similar issue in the past year maybe the following information will be helpful. The Scenario : In the middle of nowhere. Come to a stop and kill the call. Get back in the car, fire it up, and take off; only it doesn't...
I can say that logging in Link on my brothers' DSM here in the south, the temps will raise and dip somewhere between the lines of 215-220. That being said, we'll address this like it's a troubleshooting process.1 : Ensure the system is burped. Now it's pretty commonly shared that our systems...
Not a whole lot you can pick up for $100, save for craigslist deals on old Pentiums. >.< I'll cut ya' a deal and do $175 if you want it~ It's about a $600 laptop.
Got the car fixed for the time being. You won't believe how incredibly easy it is to get to the center diff on an Auto AWD trains. Just welded it until I can locate a 2g output shaft.Anywho, anyone need a good laptop, core i5, for around $225? Need to sell it immediately.
Bit of a long shot here but I am currently in Arkansas and my friends output shaft just bit the dust. Fairly sure the splines shredded in the transfer case. I have sourced a new one in Clarksville TN but I'm likely going to be needing a transfer case as well as I can assume the teeth in the...
May actually be interested in doing this myself. And an update on the stealth - Found out it is 1 of 16 made in 1996 of it's specific type and color code of Firestorm Red. More rare than my Talon.
Actually got rid of her a while back to a good friend. Now, I'm looking for either an AWD DSM or a 4x4 truck 1999 or newer. For the stealth that is. I know one of you guys want it. :3
It ended up being a bad ECU if I recall correctly. Ironically the ASD went out with it as well. We went through a few days of diagnostics before figuring it out. But considering how long ago it was my memory is a little fuzzy.
Do what you can to stay away from NB Simulation. Last thing you want is the signal dying during a mid pull before open loop engages and causing a ####ton of detonation. Ask me how I know. >->
So. Picked up an 03' WRX, AMS tuned on a e16g at 22psi. :P missed the awd scene so much I couldn't pass up the deal. Came with Tein coilovers and a system to boot. Now who wants to get rid of an extremely nice 2g?
Just some food for thought - Aluminum radiators get VERY hot. I've burnt the skin from my fingers a few times by forgetting about this and leaning into the engine bay. Rubber-coat the top with undercoating. It actually adds a very nice look/texture to it. Also saves your hand from being scalded...
Gates = Win. Been running them for years and never once had a failure.Save for that damn oil pan bolt on my first rebuild ever. Wasn't aware of the length difference. Cut that belt right in half and it never skipped a beat.
It's the same thing. It becomes a simulated reading. Some people have success with it. Some don't. I personally just.prefer to have a legitimate 02 sensor in place.I also find that the rear 02 bung works great for a wideband sensor location
Just remove the rear 02, install your wideband...
No.Link has an option to -simulate- a narrowband signal and thus all it does is provide a switching signal for the ECU to read off of. You tune around that. If you replace your front 02 with your wideband, you'll be using a Simulated 02 signal activated via link. It is -very- iffy and very...
If it happened when you arc'd something then you should be checking sensors and such. Good chance that 02 is dead. Also a really good chance you blew the alt fuse but it's still hopping an arc across the two ends of the blown metal inside. Pull the alt plug and check it. Had something like this...
That is the Flash Point which is standard in 98-99 DSMs with a Black Box ECU. You ground this pin out using a specific stereo-style plug/pin connection in order to upload and download information from the stock Black Box ECU which used to be there. Now that you have a 95 ECU in a 98 car (Eh..)...
Cable can be had from ECMtuning on the cheap.Yeah, which is ridiculous considering that 70% of them are beat to hell and back with over 200K miles. Haha.
Typically when you find one they're either beat up or over 220k miles. Which is what took me so long to decide on one. :P DSMs are a dime a dozen, though, and are almost always a certainty of picking up a headache. Can't really #### with the reliability of the ole' 5.3. Unless it's a 5.7 Hemi...
Mmm...That's really tempting actually. And everyone could use a 3 door 4x4 5.3 powered Chevy for their family. :p How much money do you have in your account?
Since it's Arkansas and I'm gonna be around Little Rock this weekend picking up a drive shaft, any of you fellas happen to have an ATV on the off chance? While moving I decided I no longer wanted my 47" flat screen so yeah. That for an old ATV. Fair deal eh? You know, just in case someone wants...
What the part-store shows and what the car needs are two separate things. There are interior oval clips, exterior clips, and that big-ass rectangular clip that you by no means should use.
