First of the car is a 1997 Eclipse RS. Lately, when i start the car up there is a loud noise coming from the timing side of the motor. The noise is there at low rpm's and at idle. But when i actually drive the car it goes away(usually at about 2500 rpms). It seems to be running a little...
Yeah battery cables are on tight and checked the main fuse. Was going to use the test light today to try and trace it, but of course it's broken! :ohdamn:Im going to go grab another one sometime this week when i get a minute and try to figure out why im not getting power.
yeah that was one of the first things that i checked. This is the wierdest thing b/c its not like i could have hit a bump and loosened something up. I litterly turned the car off and went to turn it back on and now nothing lol
thanks man. I checked the grounds, no corrosion, and they're attached appropriately. The terminals don't even make a spark when i touch them to the battery. Im clueless on anything electrical with cars lolIm going to be going out to try and diagnose what is causing my problems. Any one...
I think i misunderstood what you meant. You want to leave the transmission in the car and pull the block correct? Not remove the trans first and then the block?
You can take it out without the transmission, but its probably going to be more of a headache than its worth. It's a lot easier to just take them both out together and disassemble the trans from the block when they're both out. It just saves you from having to go under the car and unbolt the...
All fuses in the engine bay fuse box appear to be in good condition, and the grounds are intact. All connections seem to be good, no random loose wires or anything
First off the car is a 1997 Eclipse Rs. I went to change the Throw Out Bearing because there was a grinding noise coming from my trans. After bolting everything back up, i started the car and it sounded like my trans complete fell to the ground so i turned the car off. Needless to say...
Ya i would start at one of those two places. They usually don't tell you exactly what is wrong with your car, but it should put you in the general area of what is causing it to throw lights
Should give you a good idea on how to get it done. Except your going to have to drop the transfer case and drive shaft. I think the transfer case is only held on by 5 bolts so it shouldn't take much longer.
Yeah im pretty sure that it is the cables, i had to mount them back further to even get any gears at all. I didn't check the front diff gear ratio. The previous owner had the transmission in the car when i bought it. It did shift alright before the head gasket went and i had to tear it all...
I've been searching for the past few days on information on how to make an EVO III Transmission work in a 1g AWD and still haven't found what im looking for. I have the transmission in the car and bolted up to the motor. The problem i am having is that it will not go into 1st, 3rd, or 5th gear...
So i finally got my car running after a year and i've come across another set of problems. I have 2nd gear, 4th gear, and reverse. I can put it into first with the clutch pressed down, but as soon as i start to let it up it grinds and pops out of gear. I have tried adjusting the clutch...
I haven't seen it yet, but a few friends of mine have and said it was pretty f'd up and they loved it. Said it was by far one of the best horror films to come out within the past few years.
Oh okay i see. I browsed through this thread once before, i just don't understand how to do it. Wiring is my worst nightmare. Is there any other way to get the fans to work without a switch or a relay?
SO i thought i had everything figured out with these slims fans. I started on the drivers side, blue to blue and black to black. I turned on the a/c to activate the fans and nothing. Does anyone know if there is something that i am missing here? I bench tested the fans and they are working...
I just got my slim fans and radiator installed. Im really confused on how to wire the slim fans. There are 4 wires for each plug on the harness. The passengers side wires are Blue with a red stripe, blue with a black stripe, green with a black stripe, and solid black. The drivers side is...
:thumb:Im all for it man! This guy just completely ruined a perfectly good car in every aspect.Apparently the tool bag claimed to have previously owned a 9 second talon! After seeing my car tho, I think he was actually referring to the longest period of time it ever ran. (not his 1/4...
Yeah, if it goes on me i will def. go back to a 1g tranny. I had to rig the cables a little bit to get them to fit, but i guess i could always cut them and weld them back together like the old ones were ( forgot about that one) lol!
LOL That pretty much sums up my car! Except for the fact that it has some mysterious transmission im unable to identify in it. Oh and the motor had a blow head gasket, a few previous broken timing belts, a broken ear off the block, hell i could go on for days!It did have a really clean...
I took my balance shafts out because the belt broke on my car and was shredded all throughout the timing cover . I was lucky enough that it didn't get caught it the belt itself and throw the timing off.
It looked perfectly fine until i started to wiggle it, It looked like it was glued together or something ( which i shouldnt be surprised). I broke another phone last week and lost your number, ill have to pm you for it.
Okay so im starting to realize every aspect of my dsm was previously F***(ed up. After find ing the wiring harness to be a complete hack job, i recently found another sensor that is completely broken. I have searched and cannot find out what the name of this sensor is. I have taken a picture...
okay thank you that is what i was thinking of doing. But i have 2 sets of wires. The first set is green with a yellow stripe and black with a green stripe. The second set is green with a black stripe and yellow with a green stripe. I dont know which set to connect to it.Also am i able...
Is anybody able to clear up if i do need to hook anything up to my sensor circled in my o.p. if i am not using a/c?? Also does any body know the correct way for wiring the wires to the cts without using a plug? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!
My computer will not let me download the manuals. If someone can put this into simple terms for me i will be able to figure this out. So i can ditch the top sensor i have circled in the picture in my original post and tape the wires off that are supposed to go to that sensor? They are not...
From the auto zone link, it shows that the connector i have circled is for the fans. And the one on the bottom is for the CTS. I know i can probably connect the CTS without a plug. But which color wire would go to each prong.
Ah okay that makes sense. I tried to go to the local junkyard, the only 1g dsm that they had there had the wiring harness already removed from the vehicle
Ive run it to some problems with the wiring harness on my 91 talon tsi. It seems that the previous owner cut off two plugs that go to the thermostat housing. I can not figure out how to attach these wires without a plug. Any help would be appreciated. Pics are attached. Thanks in advance.
So i replaced my bad throw out bearing after i forgot to replace it when i did my new clutch last month and now im spitting transmission fluid out the passengers side axle. Im assuming it is the axle seal so im in the process of replacing it right now. My problem is that the seal part came out...
Thank you for all the help i appreciate it. I still can't figure it out. If anyone has an idea to which prong each wire goes to feel free to chime in. I could really use some help with this one.
I had the same problem with my talon. I tightened the bolt and it worked for a few days. Then it would just come loose again and start spitting oil. I ended up having to replace the whole housing. I hope you have better luck!
