I'm going to have to measure my setup once the head is assembled. Hopefully my head casting is decent and doesn't require too much shimming. Manley says cool bind is .950" (950 thousandths), at 1.580" install height. We shall see!
Thank you. I was aware of the binding situation. I just wasn't sure if it was possible. (Cast iron Chevy heads shim under the valve seat, but that's cast iron vs aluminum). I'm still learning.I don't believe my cams are an issue. Manley says .580" max valve lift including the rocket arm...
I know this 2 years old, but I found it searching so I'll add to it. I also have the 22125 kit (single spring). Why couldn't you shim under the seat? As in, cylinder head casting / shims / seat / spring?I'm running smaller cams (genuine HKS 272's), and curious as to a reliable rev limit...
That is sort of a loaded question.. Assumong an ethanol pump is close by. Looks like it's flying on the back half of the track, which means it's easy to merge with traffic ;)
Fixed a ghetto rigged oil return line setup, radiator had a hole in it, fresh oil change. Come out the next morning.. 5 quarts of Pennsoil Ultra synthetic all over the ground.. Oil pan has a hole in it. Yay... Got my fuel lab filter and filter to rail line/fittings as well as fuel lab AFPR kit...
I'd like to continue this discussion, except in the present time! (Fast forward ~ 7 years)..With all the changes in compressor wheel and turbos in general, now available to the general public. Is really like to see some spool numbers of any variation of the gt42 (BB or journal), with...
Nothing from me as of today. I just got the car on Saturday. Bone stock minus a K&N filter. I have almost everything in waiting. I had a 93 AWD but it had chassis issues. I'll know this weekend when it gets assembled.EVO III 16g
EVO 8 injectors
Punishment Racing FMIC
WAlbro pump
Link v3I'll...
Quick update for those who are following along. Came to find out there were some non repairable issues with the chassis. Moved on to a new car (1990 Laser RS FWD turbo. Also stock with a K&N filter. Still wanting the same as the AWD I had (12 second pass on pump gas). Also, I have received some...
I am getting the EVO injectors for $65 from a local guy. But if they'll be to small I'll just pass.. With Black Friday closing in, I'm sure FIC will be running a sale on injectors..
So it's looking like this:EVO III 16g
EVO 8 injectors
Walbro 255 (rewired)
AFPR and install parts
ACT 2600
DSMLink
Innovative wideband
Punishment FMICWill I see a 12 second pass on pump in a full weight 1g AWD with this setup (assuming a clean pass and properly function car).
I am looking for an enjoyable, comfortable, driver. Not a daily, but street able. There is no budget, but if you need a number, I'll go $3,000 - $4,000.Definitely 93 octane pump gas (no e85 / methanol). If the car sits for 3 months I don't wanna be stuck screwing with injectors, etc.Goal...
I have a 93 tsi AWD 5 speed. Stock save for a K&N filter and 3" cat back.I'm wanting a good running, enjoyable, driver. Not a daily driver, but not a 1000hp race car. I'm not gutting the interior or caging it. Also, building the motor (other then ARP studs / MLS gasket), isn't an option at...
Bought myself a FWD laser (1993), haven't been on here in years. Are any of you guys running AWD cars (albeit with a FWD trans or AWD trans in FWD mode? (IE only powering the front wheels)?
Yes. I agree. It CAN be done. Just wanted the OP to realize it's not as simple as bolting on parts and moving some sliders... It definitely can be done, and has!
I seriously doubt your going to make 400whp on a 20g on straight pump gas. Not to come in here and be a thorn in your side, but unless you have a great setup with a very good tune, 400whp on pump with a bolt on 20g more then likely isn't gonna happen. It's not as easy as just simply bolting a...
Forget that piece of crap. The tubing might be stainless, but it's so thin walled it'll crack in no time. Punishment Racing is having a sale on one of there o2's right now for $100. It's a quality piece (unlike that one you linked to for $45 on eGay) and it supports one of our venders!
Not to jump in as a hater, but just to state that any dsm that ways ~2300 lbs and is built to the point Dave's car is SHOULD be running in the 9's with a large frame turbo. (built motor, dog box trans, caged, etc)This post is in NO MEANS to take away from what was accomplished, I'm just...
The only difference is one of the plugs under the dash. You need to swap 2 red wires. One is red with a black line, the other is red with black squares instead of a line. When you swap the 91+ harness into a 90 car, you need to swap these 2 wires on the plug, or the car will not start with the...
It's probably a safer bet to just pull it off (12mm bolts) and compress it manually. I've had a 6 bolt swapped 2g and that same tool didn't work for me either.
What are you trying to rebuild? The calipers? Advance Auto parts can get reman'd calipers next day and they are fairly cheap. Are you looking for the hard or soft lines? Or what, please be more specific.
Did you talk to FIC about the correct battery voltage settings? (I forget what the proper term is off the top of my head). Latency I think, I've been up for 28 hours... lolWhat's the base fuel pressure at? What idle RPM are you trying to hold?
Here ya go..http://www.rceng.com/technical.aspx?UserID=18970959&SessionID=vbz{BymC35RSpTRCil1TFor some reason it's not working, but if you copy and paste the link above, it goes to RC engineering's injector calculator.
The problem with the non turbo 4g63 entirely is that there is a turbo version. If they're were factory B16's turbo from Honda, you'd see the same trend the 4g63's follow. No reason to beat a dead horse, if you know what I mean. Same with the SRT's. If there were AWD srt4's (neon based) there...
I've had the following turbo's (all with td05h turbine wheels), big 16g (not the evo III), 18g, and 20g with the turbine clipped 7 degree's. The 16g and 18g are pretty much equal. The clipped 20g was a little lazy, but was a monster after 4K. I would recommend the EVO III 16g. Tune the car well...
It's the same as any other turbo. You need a manifold, downpipe/o2 housing, oil feed, oil drain, IC pipe and an intake pipe. Performance wise, more then likely it will be laggy and not make more power then a 16g could. GM4's sucked on the 6.5 diesel's and they more then likely won't do much...
